It does, you're right. But I think our defense over the years (well, since Vida left) has seriously lacked an inspirational figure at the back and I'm just not sure Maguire does the trick. Probably more so than what we currently have, but I'm not sure he'd command the respect of our backline as would Bonucci and maybe even Alderweireld. But he's probably better than Jones, Smalling, Rojo and Lindelof (and better in the air than Bailly, but so is everyone).

I doubt it. He was available before Chelsea and we weren’t interested. Fellaini just signed along with Fred. We’re busting at the seems with midfielders. It’s the wing and fullbacks we need to be going for.
When Bale eventually has this meeting, I doubt they are going to say anything other than that he will be guaranteed minutes. No way will they say that he may as well go because they’ve got a Hazard/Neymar lined up. Hopefully they do though and he packs his bags for Manchester
If Perez thinks it's the smart business move to sell Bale now, Madrid will hold back from guaranteeing Bale game time thereby forcing him to initiate his exit. And why wouldn't Perez consider that? They have just won three CL titles in a row, their team needs a revamp, Ronaldo has just left, a new manager has been hired etc. It all looks and feels like it's the perfect time for Madrid to rejig things and start a new era by bringing in new galacticos who are younger and hungry. Bale has been worth his price but seriously injury prone. Why not sell him for good money now?
If the best player in his position in the world were to be attainable we'd make it work. It's a headache we'd welcome. I would certainly prefer Kante to pretty much any other player we've been linked to over the last year.
Harry Maguire has plenty of Phil Jones vibes about him to be honest, not sure I’d want him.

Kante isn't even in the top 5 in his position for me. Matic is a much better option, Kante is massively overhyped on here.

No one would take Matic over Kante. They also don’t play the same position.
Yeah, I think it's very unlikely. Would think Real would be willing to get rid for a decent price and clear him off their wage bill and great as he is, spending huge amounts on him does represent quite a risk with his injury record. But he's clearly desperate to stay there. Good luck to him (although, not Madrid).
We should stay away from Bale, his injury record is so bad that we can not plan anything and count him in.
Why are people so sure Bale isn't interested in us and not the other way around? Or that the disagreement between him and us are related to salary, position, his injuries...Most details are never known and most see through City's Pep or money thing but are ready to jump on this type of info.
