I laughed at City spending £150 million on full-backs and now I'm praying we do the same.

The state of LB and RB are a fecking joke.

The funny thing is, they really aren’t. There are better full-backs out there for sure, buth Ashley Young has been one of our best players this season. Valencia too has been ok, although he hasn’t provided enough attacking power. As a defender he has been more than ok. Our defensive unit is one of the best in the league, we had the most shut-outs didn’t we?

It seems like people think our attack will be revamped completely when we bring in new defenders, but trust me - it won’t!

I’m hoping we get some great players in, but I’m not expecting big differences.

Wish him well in Milan - nothing but respect for him from me, and glad he’s leaving the league. Go on Fella, be free

Please sign pre-agreement with Sarri to take over Jose in 2020 or 2021 if United activated the option but on condition, he must manage the Napoli until 2020 or 2021, I don't want to see Chelsea getting attacking managers, we are going to be left behind other top 5 who are playing so attractive football.

Can you imagine if Chelsea end up with him? We'll be the only anachronism in the top six

This is actually what I feared when I first saw someone here mention Sarri and Chelsea - Chelsea playing better attacking football than us really would be the last humiliation  :(

Unfortunately that's not enough in our current system. We play inside forwards and rely on our full backs for width. If either one doesn't provide that width then our balance is shot. Valencia has been a great servant to the club but I don't think he has enough left in his legs to play the role we require.

Woodward doesn’t have that kind of foresight unfortunately.

Good idea but probably much easier said than done. Unfortunately, I feel like we are heading to becoming a dinosaur of a club

Mourinho has informed Ed Woodward of his summer targets, which include Tottenham and Belgium centre-back Toby Alderweireld.
His midfield options include Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred, Jorginho of Napoli and Nice’s Jean Michael Seri.
United are also weighing up a summer move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial are all set to be offloaded, with Marouane Fellaini also poised to leave on a free after failing to agree a new deal.

The midfield targets just sound like they've thrown a list of names together, they are all quite different players. As far as Bale goes, if it means no Willian then feck it, I'd go for him.

Really not feeling it this Muppet Season; hopefully just post-final blues :nono:

I'd say there are similarities between the 3 midfielders mentioned. All technically sound, can pass and can operate as a CDM. Agreed on Bale. I was initially against signing him earlier, but I'm warming up to him if the fee is right. I can't see any better available RW's than a fully fit Bale. Assuming he's fit of course.

I really hope he doesn't go to Chelsea or anywhere else. He really is a special manager. I was watching Napoli today and was mesmerized at times. His football can rival Pep's when it gets going.

I always thought Bale was a left sided player. Didn’t he start at LB then play LW at Spurs. Only reason he plays on the RW is due to Ronaldo? Is he suited to either side equally? Not that I want us to sign him. Think he’s beyond his best years and injury prone.

Sarri to Chelsea would be killer. He's elevated Napoli's play immensely - they're amazing to watch in full flow, one of the most fun teams in Europe to follow as a neutral.

He can play on either side comfortably, yes. On the left he takes the ball out wide often, while on the right, he likes to cut in and shoot. If he joins us, I'd like to say he'll play on the right, but Mourinho did chase Perisic all of last season to play on the left.

Just feels like throwing good money away at this point. I'm not convinced that Mourinho will get the best out of anyone we buy, and I can easily see Martial going on to become an incredible player if he leaves.

Exactly; I can’t think of a single player we could sign that would get me excited as things stand.

John Cross: Jack Wilshere has indicated he is ready to sign the new three-year contract with a 12-month option he's been offered to stay with Arsenal.

Does anyone know any AC Milan forums? How are they taking these news?

If you don’t think revamping the LB and RB positions will have a huge impact on our limp attack, then I don’t know what to tell you. You’ll see how transformative it’ll be. People have got way to comfortable with dross.

I'll never understand why clubs sign players when they don't have a manager. Not saying that this rumour is true, but things like that has happened.

Maybe they already know who the next manager will be, and been told by him who he wants?

Figured as much. I wonder what Jose really sees in him, by now it should be obvious that he's only really good enough to be a Plan B when shit hits the fan. That's something that a whole host of other players could provide with something more on top.
