We massively overpay our squad players - this is no secret, and it's the main reason we find it so hard to offload anyone we actually want to sell.

And the reason why we rarely get good prices for them to boot. We are not a particularly well run club in terms of player recruitment/procurement etc. Some of it is naivety from Woodward (running his mouth and signalling selling clubs to rinse us), but the salary thing needs to change. There is absolutely no reason at all to have squad players earning almost 100k, let alone more.

Jesus, that takes me back to my teenage years. When the internet was a simpler place...

When was the last time United announced a signing before anyone in the press linking us to a player, completely out of left field?

We’d been linked to him before (like every other player on the planet) but Lukaku escalated quickly, it had all been about Morata up unti then. The media (British at least) generally don’t seem to know much about us until we are ready for them to know.

Lukaku was quite sudden wasn't he? The media were still saying Morata was imminent the day before we announced him

According to Spanish public tv Madrid offered Neymar a contract for 7 years, 45 m€ each (I guess that before taxes)+ 310 m€ to PSG

We reportedly didn't even believe Lukaku was a possibility until a matter of days before we actually signed him. Everything changed when we got a tip-off from Raiola at the beginning of the week saying a deal with us could actually be done. A week later, he was our player.

Who should we believe, Lukaku himself or a Chelsea mouthpiece hmm....

In light of information broadcast tonight by TVE regarding an alleged Real Madrid offer to PSG and their player Neymar, Real Madrid C. F. wishes to state that this information is absolutely untrue. Real Madrid has made no offer of any kind to PSG or the player.
Real Madrid are surprised that the Spanish public television network would choose to broadcast entirely false information without anyone from the outlet having first contacted any of the parties concerned to corroborate the supposed information, which would have been quite easily discredited.

do real usually come out and deny transfer rumours? Seems an odd thing to do when you're a big club and will be linked with all sorts

Real Madrid vs Spain media war. Burned bridge some where re:head coach situation

Did the same thing when they were linked with Verratti a few windows ago IIRC. Flo doesn't want to mess with Qatar.
