Sold in a couple of years? Sold? Mate, Fellaini couldn’t find a team to match his United salary while available on a free. You think two more years of being on the bench and at the age of the 32 he’ll be sold?

It’s more likely we’ll have to pay him to leave when the time comes.
how do you know they wouldn't match his salary? More likely he wanted a big bump to leave. Lots of stories from different clubs saying he asked for 200k etc. If it was just a case of matching his salary he might be far more likely to find a club willing to pay 70 or 80k or whatever

So Phil is swimming upstream. Let's see if he knows anything. He seems to think Fellaini is leaving.

Guess the one bright side of Fellaini signing a new contract is some people might stop treating him as some all knowing gospel just because he has had former United players on his radio show and got some things right a few years ago.

Summary of Fellaini facts

1) he gives everything for the team
2) Mourinho rates him as a squad option
3) Every other manager that has managed him has rated him / played him. incl national team
4) He clearly wanted a wage rise this summer
5) United left an offer on the table for last few months that clearly wasn't as much as fellaini wanted and obviously thought he could get elsewhere

If he signs it looks very much to me like either he has accepted the offer we gave him (mourinho wants to keep him) or maybe we met in the middle. No evidence we 'caved into his demands'

Sometimes everything isn't good enough though. I'm sure there are millions around the world that would give their everything to play for United. Should we sign them to a contract too?

Similar to Martial (right footed left winger/forward, good dribbler, likes to cut inside, good finisher too).
But, but, Martial visited their WORLD CLASS training ground. What happened?

On a serious note, was going to ask what's he like. 16 goals last season - pretty decent.

Porto has signed ex-red Saidy Janko as their RB this season!

*That's exactly the point I made, we can't be held to ransom as a team on his whims and desires on when "he decided to turn up". What kind of strategy is that?

** Again the exactly the point I made if you read my post, why would he be afforded the luxury when he has not earnt it like Sanchez? Sanchez has been below par but still contributed more than Martial has for the team. I just hope you are not going to argue now that Martial has ever been the player once that Sanchez has.

Also, I did not mean he should be a "defensive workhorse" but should actually apply a respectable amount of effort after making a mistake or supporting the team. This is what I wrote in my post so your assertion is the opposite of what I said.

You can call it vitriol if you like but like you said we are discussing opinions on a discussion board and if you think that critique or arguments against your post then it is Ironic that you should insinuate that I implying people aren't allowed their own opinion. This is a classic comment made by those who want to say what they like but get upset by responses which shows that it is they who think their opinion is beyond reproach.
Nobody is holding us to ransom. Its all about giving chances to improve consistency. And also I suppose you know how much effort martial puts in training?

How do you justify picking Sanchez over Martial when the latter was finally showing signs of good form under Jose? He was shafted to the right, underperformed (against spurs) and then was benched. How has Sanchez earnt that luxury to start every game? He wasn't even Arsenal's best player last season.

I am not getting upset about any post on this forum. Its about keeping a decorum which I believed your post lacked. Anyways don't really want to make this thread about Martial so lets hope for the best. I want him stay and prove everyone wrong next season.

Generally accepted that he works hard for the team

Even if that were true it wouldnt be a fact.

He works hard at certain things, sometimes. In his good spells he's worked hard at winning the ball for example. But certainly not every match and with every aspect

No. This is the Swiss RB we signed. Think he was the second official signing we made under Moyes.
Never heard of him before. Seems to have some pace in him and still quite young. Is he any good?

He was good but not great at United youth teams, and never excelled when on loan at Bolton. He was pretty poor at Celtic when they signed him on a free.

He's average. Quite surprise that he has progressed so much that he has signed for Porto.

What and you do? No didn't think so...

You just threw a baseless point out there again which you don't have the answer to yourself but what is more important is that we were not even talking about his efforts in training because that would be idiotic to claim to know that.

What we can see however is the effort he puts on the pitch which we all agree is nowhere near good enough on most occasions and not really adequate in other times as well.

At the end of the day, players who show it on match day will be rewarded and its not just about when the going is good its about how you react when you make mistakes or things are not going well which Jose has shown countless times for players who made mistakes but put the effort in and did not let their heads drop.

Knowing your argument is self-contradictory and has been refuted you have gone down the "decorum route".

I honestly believe that no one here wants him to fail, from what I have read people want him to succeed but add the necessary maturity and less selfish behaviour on and to an extent off the pitch with these media stories if we are to believe they are true. I can tell you now that in no way that anyone here including you wants him to fulfil his potential here at United than me or any of the other posters here. I just want it to be for the right reasons and not just the "I told you so" or "prove you wrong" crowd. People are just sick of the Martial FC proponents and how none of this is on him and how we have to build a team around him. The media leaks just add insult to injury and leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

I thought the same, who am I thinking of then? the name El-Fitourri or something like that comes to mind.

Exactly. We don't know what efforts he puts in training and we also don't know about our priorities (like you pointed out earlier and I acknowledge that). He lacks full effort but the circumstances were really not fair for him.

What we know is how a young in-form player was unfairly treated when a superstar was signed with no form whatsoever. That's on the manager. The same manager wants to sign an average midfielder who is not good at things what a midfielder needs to do.

Sadiq El-Fitouri. Plays in Romania now or something. Has more senior international appearances than senior club appearances.

Relative to the pool of players. Nobody works hard every match at every aspect such a ridiculous barometer. It is generally accepted on this forum that by a relative measure he is a hard worker

Actually they do. Some players make their name on being a hard worker alone. Fellaini is definitely not one of them

i said it before. the only reason for which United would want to keep Fellaini is to protect value of the team. He can be easily shipped out for 20 mil next summer.
If we can't get rid of him now on a free transfer, how are we going to get 20 mil for him next summer?

United are ready to make a move for the Italian international, according to Premium Sport’s ‘market expert’ Claudio Raimondi.

Wolves are trying to find a deal to avoid a bad relationship, or even legal action, with the Lions.
Newspaper Jornal de Notícias claims that Sporting are ‘analysing the situation very carefully’. The club are said to be aiming for the amount of €18m

Very good deal for them - much better than Tadic

Highly, highly, highly disagree. Tadic is a seasoned Premier League-player with a trick up his sleeve, he is much better than Elyounoussi - who's hardly every had a good game for our national team. Having players like Tadic would instantly make Norway much better, something which cannot be said about the other one. You can't understand why you would rater Mo higher than Tadic. Our best attacker is Josh King, and he's pretty limited, perhaps not even better than Tadic.
