Using Blind and Lindelöf to fund a good portion of De Ligt's transfer fee plus wages would be good business. A super talented player like De Ligt under Mourinho's tutelage would be world class for 10-12 years at United. De Ligt should be right up there with Dalot on Ribalta's list of quality young prospects United should be buying at value prices.

Prior to us signing him lindelof was regarded as a super talented player who can lead our defence for 10yrs under Mourinho..........

De Ligt may not be the answer.

We are heavy on cb's and if we dip into the market for one, a youngster wouldn't be the way I'd go. We need some experience in there. We have Bailly/Lindelof/TFM/Tuanzebe who all need to learn further.

Ditching a player after a year to swap him with someone who may encounter the exact same issue's makes no sense. Lets develop what we have first and foremost

Is that the case with all players or just free agents and players with expiring contracts?

Could be for any player, it's no different to any asset, you can agree to sell it anything you own to anyone you choose, at any fixed point in the future.

So here the two clubs will agree to the sale, but at a fixed date in the future (the 1st July).

Is it me or is Serie A one of the leagues where transfers between top clubs is ridiculously common? The teams are constantly improving their rivals' squads, it seems. Cases in point: Bonnuci (Juve-Milan), Higuain (Napoli-Juve), Pjanic (Roma-Juve), El-Shaarawy (Milan-Roma) from the top of my head.

Think it could be something about them not really having a culture of exporting a lot of players to other ligas. Makes trade between the clubs more acceptable, as it's necessary if the clubs need to get their financials straight. Bad or strange financials within the clubs has been a thing for decades in Serie A.

It isn’t entirely uncommon, but Pjanic and Higuain were release clause deals. Roma and Napoli had no say.

Fekir to Shaqiri, seems a bit of a downgrade.
He'll be used to add to our squad depth, it's a good option to have from the bench imo especially at only £12m. I'd guess we're looking into a Lemar quality kind of player to replace Fékir.

Is he not even better than Shaqiri? Genuine question since I have seen very limited of Kluivert
His contract runs out next year, otherwise he'd be (far) more expensive.
That being said we keep hearing that the deal is basically done and then it isn't because they still haven't agreed on a price yet so.. let's just wait and see if that really is the final price.

He is.. And he has loads of potential. That being said, atm he's not much more than a young player with some (really)good moments. And...only one more year on his contract.

Apparently Ajax rejected a bid of 40m for de Jong this weekend and told Barca he's not for sale.

Wouldnt sell him either. He will cost more next year. They should pay more if they want him and maybe loan him back. I am not sure he would want to leave desperately now and kick up a fuss.

What a great bloke Romero is. Always gives his everything and his attitude is fantastic.
