When Woodward comes out every now and again and mentions an exact figure for the extraordinary amount of players we're linked with over one window, I can imagine it's rumours like this that get that figure so high.

Manchester City have submitted a new bid to Napoli for midfielder Jorginho. The Citizens have offered €47 million and 5/6 million in add-ons, but the deal could reach also the sum of €55 million..

Guardiola's club, however, is unwilling to wait more than a week for a response and they could have already an alternative ready, should the deal fall trough.

We were interested in Jorginho earlier in the year maybe we might jump back in if City aren't willing to pay up.

Can't see us spending over 100m on CMs when we have more positions we need to fill.

Napoli should hold out for more than that, he is worth more than that

City seem to rely on players forcing through the move as they lowball teams, even though they've got a bottomless pit of money. Tends to work for them though.

Who will they move onto? Thiago? Not really the same type of player, is he?

Not sure. Think they have previously been linked to Weigl, although I doubt he'd be substantially cheaper. Maybe Neves. I imagine we'll never find out as Napoli will probably cave eventually.

Our new scouting system seems to be working. No idea who he is but he must be rated highly if Jose went himself.
To be fair to the old scouts, we were linked with Dorin Rotariu from the same club a couple of years ago.

City will fold.

What buying from a position of strength does.

City are more than likely to walk away. They're trying to establish themselves as a team that won't be mugged off.

Be interesting to see who they'd go for though.

Wouldn't mind Jorginho at all tbf, he can play as the DLP while Fred does the cleaning up with Pogba in front of them as a #8-#10 hybrid.
That midfield would have everything creativity technique passing pressing.
He can even play as #8 with Matic and Pogba.
But I think City already have an agreement with him and he's going there

So did Sanchez

My bet is Thiago

Ironic, the club that helped destroy the transfer market by over paying players who never head of them all of a sudden won't be mugged off . This has Pep's self obsession wrote all over it. Will be interesting to see how well they do by trying to continue to work this way. It will most likely backfire.

Wouldn't be a bad option at all.

Was thinking the same as I can't see why it seems that he is not much fancied. The only fear I would have is that he plays like Aaron Lennon with electric pace and change of direction but looks like he is consistent and has an end product.

Edit: Should mention that the links are BS and are based on betting odds mainly.

I wouldn’t touch him after his early summer quotes. If city don’t get him he can stew on that whilst he remains where he is

Can someone care to explain:

What is the point of the transfer window "opening" when teams, including us sign players before the window actually opens. To me it seems like the only thing that matters is the Sep 1 deadline, AFTER which you cannot sign anyone until January.

Between basically May and September, the whole transfer 'window' thing doesn't seem to apply i'd imagine. Mourinho is someone who makes the best use of this ambiguity and signs players super early on

The Premier League window now opens and closes earlier than everywhere else in Europe. Think we have from May 14th until the 14th of August.

You can sign players anytime of the year, you can only register them within the transfer window period.

Prealare for us to be linked like crazy to Jorginho in the media to try and force City’s hand
