Ironic, the club that helped destroy the transfer market by over paying players who never head of them all of a sudden won't be mugged off . This has Pep's self obsession wrote all over it. Will be interesting to see how well they do by trying to continue to work this way. It will most likely backfire.

Pure media spin. They have had such favourable reporting over the last few years, especially on transfers. They backed out from the Mahrez deal then paid £57m for Laporte within a week. He's not even been capped by France yet and was more than they wanted to bid for Mahrez.

Can someone care to explain:

What is the point of the transfer window "opening" when teams, including us sign players before the window actually opens. To me it seems like the only thing that matters is the Sep 1 deadline, AFTER which you cannot sign anyone until January.

Between basically May and September, the whole transfer 'window' thing doesn't seem to apply i'd imagine. Mourinho is someone who makes the best use of this ambiguity and signs players super early on
Transfer window opened for the Premier League on 17th May. Technically players can be signed outside of the window, however they cannot be registered so if a player signs 2 minutes after the close of a window, they then have to wait until the next transfer window in order to register and be eligible to play for a club (see: Adrien Silva as an example).

what did that bizatch say? Sorry, I don't want to give the dross sites clicks.
When United were linked to him he came out and said he didn’t want to go anywhere where the football was not expressive. Actually it was a bit more blunt than that but I can’t remember the exact words. A slight on United

I am not a conspiracy nut, but that favourable reporting in the media with regards to City isnt just a coincidence imo.

Jorginho is the type of player Spurs should go after if they’re setting up a new transfer strategy and have some money to spend. They are a bit lightweight in the middle of the pitch, especially as Dembele is leaving (and injured a lot), Wanyama is limited on the ball and Dier is pretty average at everything. Winks is young and hasn’t really shown much at all.

What are they quoting? 55M? That’s the price for a good player these days, and unlike at City he would walk into Tottenham’s midfield. City have Fernandinho, Silva, de Bruyne and Gündogan already... Jorginho would take a place on the bench for sure.

He didn't say anything wrong whatsoever.

He just said he likes to play with the ball on the ground and pressing the opposition whilst moving the ball quickly. He even said its common in the Premier League and his style fits most teams.

I think people just assumed he'd be a Pep player as a result, because City are obviously interested so it made sense. But if City dont see him as worth 60m we should be all over him.

"I think that I could fit. It depends on who else is around me -- I need players with the same characteristics that I have"

"There are English teams with this style of play, ball on the ground, quick transitions, high pressure.

"If one of those teams wanted me, I could fit and the other way round. My football way is not an usual one."

One has to wonder about these types of quotes. Unless you see /hear them come out from someone's mouth and in context, I would dismiss them. We always assume that quotes are genuine and don't question them.

If this is what he actually said then the response would be "well you could help us express ourselves better" or alternatively "go express yourself" in that small pond you play in.

Bit of a big head for a done nothing player to be honest.

He’s a better player than Fernandinho & Gundogan. Doubt he’d go to City without the assurances of being a starter.

How is Jorginho a better player than Fernandinho?

I think they are just different types of midfielders. There are very few players better than Fernandinho at what he does.

Yeah, Fernandinho is vital for City to play the way they do. I'm not sure Jorginho would be able to do the things Fernandinho do better than Fernandinho himself. Apples and pears, really.

Jorginho wouldnt be able to do the job Fernandinho does, nor would Fernandinho be able to do the job Jorginho does. But Jorginho is overall the more talented and skillful player, much younger as well.

Two instalments for £3.5 million? Surely Leicester could afford that in one go.

His release clause is £3m, not £3.5m. I'd imagine this is Leicester throwing West Brom a bone in order to allow them to split the cost over a period of time.

3,5 mil paid in two installments, this is Juventus kind of transfer work

You are probably right but that often sounds subjective to me. People often tend to rate 'flair' players higher than 'grafters'. But I always try to rate players within the context of their roles. I do get your point though.

Talent and skill is quite low down on the list for a no.6. Kante, Casemiro, Matic and Fernandinho are all not particularly talented or skillfull but they are premium defensive midfielders.

I would think that if Fernandinho was not at the end of his career City would not want Jorginho.

What's this about?

Guy on reddit said he was working on the Kohler sleeve deal and that Griezmann was mentioned in it and that we'd still be signing him. Said to wait for the Kohler announcement to prove he wasn't bullshitting.
