This sounds like the kind of thing Castles has made up to cover all bases for Mourinho if we don't make top 4 at the end of the season.
I don't know why he's still pushed as being reliable. He spews shite all the time. Remember when Blind and Mata were certain to leave? I'm sure he has some links to Mourinho/Mendes - which explains his constant arse-licking, but I doubt Mourinho has him on the line every time he considers a move for a player.

He gets fed shit, but he also gets fed real scoops. That's the nature of football journalism.

Club officials use reporters for their own ends. There's no such thing as a reporter who gets it right every time, because they can never know when they're being lied to.

That's the beauty of the move and he will probably have a big wage too, for at least 4 years.
I can see how it's good for him and West Ham but not so much Marseille. It's pretty much him dining out on the back of one good season. They sold him to West Ham 18 months ago for around £12.75m and buy him back a season and a half later for more than twice the price when he's closing in on 30. Crazy.

So can we at least ground him on the same level as everyone else? He seems to have grown in status for some reason despite getting very few things right since Mourinho has joined.

If I was managing Marseille, I would have raided Toulouse for Blin, Lafont and Diop. Young french players with big potential and better than Marseille's current players. Also someone like Berahino would have been a good gamble.

Agreed. I'm not against bringing in an older player altogether. We had a very young front line coming into this season and the addition of Zlatan gave the younger players some guidance while adding the consistency of a proven goalscorer to the team. It's just I don't think that Payet has the physic or metabolism to be playing at the top of the game well into his 30's. also I don't think a player who refused to play for his current club is the type of player I would want guiding my younger players.

If they have no idea about the veracity of their 'news' they shouldn't report it imo. Anyway Castles is just an idiot. At the end of last summer he was still insisting we were signing players when Mourinho had said over and over again that our business was done.

Re: Payet

Hilarious. Last season you couldn't settle their fans down because "they had Payet", this season the same star player they idolised has let them properly know their standing and state as a club. And what he thinks of them too.

Well I must admit I was wrong on this one. It seems he was homesick after all and not interested in moving to China. He's made the move for the sake of his family so good on him.

The first Brexit-related transfer then? Uhm.

Based on what we've seen so far, he has no intention of using Young. It's just a negotiating tactic, which works very well. We've got Martial, Rashford, Mata, Lingard, Mkhitaryan, and Rooney for 3 positions. And that assumes 4-2-3-1. If we go 4-3-3, it's for just 2 positions. I'd like us to sign a CM though. Carrick, Pogba, Herrera, Fellaini and Schweinstieger on paper looks like good coverage, but Carrick is 35, and we can't know what to expect from Bastian in high pressure PL games. Normally I'd be good with it, but we've got so many games between now and the end of the season, and virtually none which are "easy".

He was on the bench today and if he really wanted to use him he would've rather than changing the goalkeeper.

Get rid of him, and promote Angel Gomes. He's old enough because he's good enough.
Angel Gomes is nowhere near ready enough for the first team and consistent playing time. What's this obsession everyone has with promoting youth players when they're not ready?

West Ham fans thinking they're a bigger club than Marseille

:lol::lol::lol:

Don't know what you mean with "bigger". West Ham definitely has the better squad, more income, more fans coming into the stadium, way bigger audience world-wide. Marseille has a bigger history, but that's it. Payet moving back to Marseille has nothing do to with this nonsense. It was rather the other way round, he clearly believed West Ham is the bigger club, hence the move to them, leaving his family and all behind.
Guess he realized it wasn't worth it anymore to abandon his family for a little more money and better league to play in. Let's see how much joy he'll show at Marseille now.

If by worlwide you mean west London then yes. He went to West Ham to play in the Premier League and kick on because his career was stalling in a shite Marseille side at not because West Ham are a bigger club than Marseille.

Marseille have the biggest fanbase in France and are also very big in Africa. West Ham have no fanbase outside West London so please stop spouting nonsense.

Far from nonsense...West Ham matches are being watched all over the world, which is true for the whole Premier league. I myself are not from West London, or anywhere near that. But i see plenty of West Ham games, and analysis like MOTD from absolutely all West Ham games, and a lot of people all over the world do the same. There is a PL programm analysis in pretty much any language there is, every country there is. There aren't even the possibilities that so many people watch Marseille regularly..who the hell shows the Ligue 1?? France and a couple of low populated African countries.

When you do good in the PL, no matter the club, the whole world knows it. Well, the whole football world. When you do good in the French league, noone knows apart from a few connaissairs, because bloody noone is interested in the league

He's in charge of the music in the changing room, Mourinho values his upbeat selections. Not the best way to spend 120K a week though.
