Can't believe they forked £30m(!) on him in the first place

Probably means Pato medical has failed
or they saw this

Why'd they want Pato? They've been going for big names but Pato hasn't been that for years.

I wouldn't normally believe this crap, but it would seem like a great move for all parties involved and probably the only way we are ever going to shed Wazza's 290k/wk in wages.

Don't believe it just for the small-minded opinion that I don't see Wayne Rooney moving to China.

He's currently a £300k a week 25 minutes cameo player. I don't see how that's a sustainable situation for both player and club. He needs to leave but I can't see him going to China.

Nowhere is it mentioned us getting a fee? Surely we won't let him go for nothing as a gesture of goodwill? Actually thinking about it, that would be kind of classy. But even so hope we squeeze a few quid out of it.

To be fair, he wouldn't even have to learn the language, alot of Chinese attempt to learn English (ironically learning from Wazza would be something) hence why so many English students pick up Teaching Jobs, the area he'd live wouldn't be very affluent and i'm pretty sure the people he'd surround himself would all speak English, it would be amazing for all parties considering the wages on offer, he can say he's "done it all" now with nothing left to prove.

Smells like clickbait BS. Arse would never pay that much for a player and that's not taking into account his wages.

I don't get how Arsenal are that 'unlikely' either. Dress it up like they're linking him to Southend United or something.

Sound like misdirection since I can't see both signing this late with their clubs have no time to recruit replacement for their league ambition & CL campaign.

Would love Bakayoko though. That would give us a great option than Fellaini

Most already speak better English than Rooney. ;)

Interesting. Would make sense and be in line with what most of us have been saying. In CB surprisingly we are ok now so don't really need Lindelof anyway. Disappointing but not surprising that Monaco don't want to sell Bakayoko. So that leaves us with the obvious point that we need a CB who is available. Shame the article didn't suggest or know who that might be. Expect us to be linked with a fair few names soon.

I do think we need "something" , we have ground to a halt again seemingly.

But, January and all that.

The top 6, which sell the papers and get the clicks, aren't doing anything this window so the journos are panicking and have to write something. A rehash of the Rooney to China story is a good way to go. Either that or a £5 voucher for Aldi to get our interest.

(I've looked at this post from every angle and don't think it can be misconstrued but who knows on this site).

I haven't watched much of Villareal this season, Has Pato been crap? Strange he looks like moving 6 months after signing for them.

If Rooney is receptive to playing in China, but only after the 2018 World cup, would it be better to keep him for another season after this, just to sell him to China for more money (fee+£10m wages) than we would get if we sold him to say another PL club this summer.

Arsenal breaking the world transfer record
That would not only break transfer record, but also twitter, the internet and every arsenal fans home. They wouldnt know what to do after being such tight arses all their lives.

Be honest, he isnt remotely good enough for the PL anymore.

He ,literally, wouldnt get in 15/16 of the teams.

That's a stretch to be honest he is not good enough for us but would play for quite a few other teams! Rewind a few Months and he's playing for England.

Agreed, he's not good enough for us anymore. But I was asking purely from a financial point of view and for Rooney's perspective he remains as the United captain for another season, boosting his chances in England's world cup squad.

We should do everything we can to get rid of him in the summer.

As for England he could spend a year sat on his arse eating pringles and he'd still captain them at the world cup.

That may be true, but then again with Barkley back in form, I wouldn't bet on it and I'm fairly sure Rooney wouldn't either (especially given that he was recently dropped from the team for sporting reasons). So from United's point of view, it'd be whether we push him out and he moves for a low fee to a PL club, or we keep him for another year and sell to China for considerably more. Saying all this, the decision will likely be solely down to Rooney to make.

This is the crucial aspect.

You can't have a player on as much as Rooney contributing as little as he does. It's just not the way to run a football club.

I just don't see Rooney going anywhere.

I can't see him in China, especially with his family, unless they stay here.
America is an option at a stretch but thats about it, until his contract runs out, then he may just have a year or 2 elsewhere
