What exactly is the highest fee paid for a 34 year old? Hell go to 32 and/or 33? Defoe seems like a good buy even at £12m, but I feel insane saying it. But then again, I wouldn't have moaned if United paid £30m for two years of Zlatan.

Looks like it's Petr Cech for £11m @ 33. Goalies seems like it's cheating a bit there, but the list I looked would imply no outfield player over 32 has even gone for £10m. Sunderland are gonna change the market by taking West Ham to the cleaners with this one.

West Ham need a striker & Berahino is refusing to sign a new deal at WBA.

Seems like an easy enough match.

West Ham should go to the Spanish league etc and use their money to buy a good striker from a club who can't say no to a bit of Premier League money.
It seems their quest for a striker starts with 'Who scored last week?'

Holger Badstuber appearances (all competitions) in the last 3 1/2 seasons: 0, 16, 9, 3 (28 total)

All that hype about their academy, the amazing facilities etc and yet despite that youngster Toisin waiting in the fringes for a while they'd rather bring in a crock.

It has to be said though that afair every time badstuber DID play he played very well and didn't need a lot of time. Now considering it's only a loan i don't see it as a bad deal. If he stays fit he should help them a lot and otherwise he won't cost them a lot.

So is this West Ham fecking with other relegation-threatened clubs by bidding insultingly low figures for their best players in the hope that it unsettles that player and their form tanks, thus condemning the club to relegation? That's just about the only logic I can see in their actions so far this window.

That's city for you. They're dull enough to think Badstuber will stay fit too

West ham just bid for the sake of it don't they. Low ball bids to unsettle player.

Some managers love a transfer karanka and rafa benitez especially.

Tony pulis loves waiting until deadline day

The whole Berahino situation is weird. Surely he'll get a move this window.

West Ham are fecking idiots, I hate them. I'm not even sure I want them to beat City tonight, twats.

Lol at West ham's £3 million bid! From the club who thought Payet was worth over £50 million.

I wish someone would introduce the Tony Pulis who'd cry about Stoke and Spurs managers talking about Berahino to the one who currently can't stop talking about Schneiderlin.

for comparison sake, phil jones, who is termed as injury prone, has 11,13,24,39 in his last 3.5 seasons

The tiny difference you might be missing, is that we're not trying to buy someone with that record!
We already have him!

The difference between staying up and spending next season in the Championship, if you bounce straight back up, is about £100 million. Sunderland without Defoe have got no chance of staying up. And even if they got £99 million for Defoe, it is hard to see Sunderland finding someone better to replace him with, so they'd be bonkers to sell him at any price West Ham might offer.

I wish Woody would ring up Pulis and tell him every time he says Schneiderlin's name, the price increases 3m for West Brom.

The point was that badstuber is an even bigger crock than Jones, who most people will say is 'made of glass'.

Deportivo want Diego Capel, and it seems that Espanyol too
