I do, Smalling especially, reckon we'd get £15 - £18 million for Smalling, and £10 - £12 m for Jones. Reported £25 million fee for Keane, 25 % cheaper for us as we have a sell on clause, so all things considered it'd be a good deal imo.
Just noted your fees for Smalling and jones and they are way off imo. Who would pay the minimum 15 million or 10 million for them? Neither one can stay fit for an whole season, Jones the worst. Neither one inspires you with any confidence when playing. I think anything around £6-7 million would be tops we would be offered for either one.

Nah, 12m Jones, 22-25 Smalling imo

In a sane league, yes. But considering this is the PL where some no name defender goes from Chelsea to Sunderland for £8m and Jordon Ibe goes from Liverpool to Bournemouth for £15m then those sums aren't far off.

Both English and relatively young, reckon we'll get £12-15m for Jones and £15-20m for Smalling if we were to sell them.

Plenty would go for Smalling, English CB, international player, good age, can defend, but just can't kick the ball very well, sure Wenger was interested not too long ago, but the usual candidates for a player like this would come out, West Brom, Stoke, Palace, etc, and they can all spend that sort of money nowadays, which just doesn't go as far as it used to.

Jones is different, because imo he is the better player, yet is constantly hindered by injuries, so this would pull the fee down a bit, but again a club like Stoke, or maybe Newcastle would take a £10 million chance on him easy, as he is better than they've got when fit, but of the two I'd rather keep him.

FWIW our first signing of the summer 2016 came on June the 8th. That's 3 weeks tomorrow. Once we play our game in EL final I expect things to start moving quickly.

OFFICIAL | Bayer Leverkusen full-back Benjamin Henrichs has extended his contract with the club until 2022.

Good for Leverkusen, I suppose. He's not going to stay long there.

As revealed in @lequipe Griezmann priority is to stay another season. The arrival of Lacazette would consolidate this idea

But Lequipe were adamant that he agreed to move to us only a while back. which one is it then?

Real, United, Chelsea will all be in for that Spurs squad unless they start paying them superstar wages. Kane and Alli could demand top wage after the last two seasons they've had.

It's interesting that the Griezmann transfer seemed to be close to being done a while back, but it seems more unlikely lately. The Rodriguez rumours start to make a bit more sense too if Griezmann changed his mind.

Also, Griezmann's been saying the same thing for months now. This shouldn't change anyone's thoughts on whether he's coming or not. Even though I personally feel he isn't.

As great as Griezmann is, getting James for feck all off Madrid in exchange for De Gea instead of dropping a record fee on Griezmann wouldn't the worst thing in the World as far as I'm concerned. Spending that supposed 200 million on other more pressing areas of weakness in our first team would really strengthen us. Some might even say... "Missing out on Griezmann could be a blessing in disguise":wenger:

Although I would welcome Griezmann, I tend to agree with this. He's not the sole way to improve the team. Even without giving up De Gea, we could likely buy James for half the price of Griezmann. That would leave a lot of "extra" funds to put toward other players. Tack that difference onto an already massive bid for Mbappe, for instance, and we could possibly secure what appears to be the best young striker in the world. More realistically, it would go a long way toward paying for a Fabhino, Dier, or some other badly needed midfielder. You get my point. Our needs are significant. Investing too much of our transfer budget in one player is risky when so many are required.

I can't see us blowing half our nut on another record signing with the amount of players we need to bring in.

I don't know how that guy keeps doing it, but people continually over rate him and the fact he might be getting 110k a week is borderline criminal. When I was watching the Hull game, the commentator was gushing about him, but I fail to see how he's done remotely well this season.
7 goals and 9 assists in the league and you fail to see how he has done remotely well?

I don't agree. I find it hard to believe we will get James for feck all, we will most likely get fleeced. Secondly, we need a Griezmann more than we need a James imo. We can't fecking score, signing one of the World's best finishers would be a good start to remedying that.

One is more a striker, other is more a playmaker. That being said, we need both.

That's the point right there. We need both. James scores and creates goals. The amount of times we've tripped up versus teams that park the bus, I think James would have been a game changer in those situations with his shooting from distance. It draws teams out to close him down, thus creating space behind. He's a world class who's suffered because of a surplus of quality at RM and the system. Mourinho loves a number 10. And this guy is a cut above Mkhitaryan and Mata. Personally I will be delighted if we sign him.

If we sign a top DM too, we will have a ridiculous midfield along with Pogba and James. Whatever the prevailing Caf logic says, Pogba is the perfect number 8 in my book. The more he plays there, the more he'll excel too. For my money he's become a more rounded player just based on this season. Mourinho likes specialists, which is why we need a special no.10 and a special no.6. I like Herrera a lot but he and Pogba should be competing for the same spot IMO. While a new DM like Fabinho comes in and has Carrick as his backup. And James comes in and has Mata as his back up. The wide roles are fluid and you have Mkhitaryan, Martial, Lingard and Rashford to fill them. But I'd beef that up too and bring in a mega talent like Bale. He's everything I'd want in a United and Mourinho player.

Up front we need a top quality well rounded forward. Any of Mbappe, Kane, Lukaku, Griezmann, Lewandowski, Aubameyang, Icardi or Belotti would improve us immeasurably. I've listed those in personal order of preference. I think only Kane and Lewandowski are out of reach. The rest, is just a question of money.

My DM knowledge is quite weak as I've not watched a ton of football this year, not like previous years. But specialist players I think which would improve us significantly are Weigl, Dier, Fabinho, Matic. Excellent system players. Fees are largely irrelevant to me, as I'm more interested in what they'd do for the team.

For me the perfect summer would be:

Out (105m): Rooney (15m), Fellaini (10m), Smalling (15m), Mata (25m), Ibrahimovich (free), Mensah (loan) - plus the 40m we got for Schneiderlin and Depay

In (330m): Laporte (40m), Fabinho (35m), James (45m), Bale (90m), Mbappe (120m), Andreas (loan return)

Net spend of 225m.

Laporte on smalling type money.
Bale on Rooney money
James on Mata level money
Fabinho probably on less than Fellaini
Mbappe on a third of what Ibra makes
And we've still saved on wages of Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, and Depay.

Fees amortized over the duration of contracts. If we win Europa and get CL, this is easily affordable. Even without we could do it.

Dream big.

Now do your worst Caftards.
