The mask does limit your peripheral vision, making you more susceptible to being blindsided or pick-pocketed.

He is a CM and is not responsible for tracking a Higuain who is a CF, that is the job of the CB.

It can impede your vision but not your decision making (Reference to second goal). And you should watch the first goal again and see how his negligence led to the first goal.

If the mask impedes your vision then it is possible you dont see the players around you as well as you would without the mask. For the second goal, it was Sidibe who was standing upfield instead of coming back to offer a passing option. The lack of that option made bakayoko turn back but was unfortunate to turn into trouble. There were two players on him (Dybala and Alves), and very few player can get out of that scenario. It easy to say he could have played the ball out, but that is not the first instinct, as he would be looking for a passing option to maintain possession.

On the first goal, the prime criminals were
- Sidibe, who was caught ball watching upfield and failed to run back to cover Alves or anyone for that matter.
- Jemerson, who was way out of position cos he followed Dybala into the midfield, which forced Klick to be dragged out of position to try and stop Alves.

Yes, Bakayoko could have tracked Higuain, who was behind him and probably out of peripheral vision, but then one can argue that Dirar could have closed in faster (Mandzukic would have been free nbut likely offside) given he had a more direct view of the build up. That does not make either of them responsible and would have been a great play if they had intervened.

Can you elucidate how many exactly? The one I know is Oscar. Seems I have missed plenty of others.

I have to say that what you have provided as evidence yet is close to zero so I'm curious what you will present. Media bullshit rumors without evidence don't pass the test, as we all know that many are invented by shady 'journos' and / or players' agents just as clickbait.

I mean Ramires, Oscar and Mikel all joined Chinese clubs from Chelsea, with Costa on their way.

The fees for Costa and Oscar don't bother me - its the continual business between Chinese clubs and Chelsea, when the Chinese clubs rarely if ever bother any other PL team.

It just seems to be Chelsea players all the time.

Unless maybe it's just they're the most high profile signings there so we hear more about it.

Either way, I don't see him being a good fit for United. He doesn't have a defensive mindset and his distribution is average at best which isn't what we need to galvanize our midfield of Herrera and Pogba.

Practically every Chelsea player has played in a "gimp" mask and they performed just fine. That mask has nothing to do with your positioning and decision-making. He was at fault for Monaco conceding both goals. For the first goal, he didn't track Higuain back and left him all alone. And in the second goal, not only was he dispossessed, he had the option of clearing the ball but he decided to try and outsmart Dybala and Alves which didn't work in his favor. Bad positioning and decision-making, those two are absolutely unacceptable in a semi-final and especially against a team like Juve. Either way, he plays higher up the pitch and does not fit our style of play. His mindset is more attacking than defensive which is what we need for United to release Pogba next season.
So because the Chelsea players wore them. That means everyone who wears a mask should be comfortable in them? I'd much prefer us sign Fabinho anyway but I think wearing one of those masks could affect a player and how they play. Depends on the person

I was just giving an example that Chelsea players managed to do fine. I did not say that everyone who wears a mask should be comfortable with them. I mean if you plan on wearing a mask like that, you would probably be aware of the drawbacks prior to the game and would be extra alert. I don't doubt it affects peripheral vision but that does not affect your decision making ability which is in question (Reference to second goal). If we plan on signing him up as a defensive midfielder, he just doesn't have that defensive instinct in him to track all the way back. That was my concern.

It appears to be a Brazilian thing (Texeira, Hulk, Oscar, Ramires, Paulinho and with Costa and Willian linked).

Brazilian players, and South American players in general are known mercenaries that's why. Football is a way out, and they come from nothing.

African footballers are similar, and many will end up there soon. African players don't grow up dreaming of trophies, or have a particular desire to play for one team. It's all about the money. And fair play to them.

What a way to stereotype two entire continents.

You would swear that being from the same continent makes everyone think alike.

Miguel Delaney. Take with a pinch of salt.

The Chinese stuff is total bullshit imo. I don't understand how the clubs there plan to make money off some of these players. Costa and Oscar aren't marketable nor do they have a big fan base. They're basically just buying "toys" since the owners are so rich they can just waste money.

Some players going there have a fan base, but the price of Costa and Oscar is just stupid

#Lacazette has chosen Atletico de Madrid!
Atletico handed to #OL a nearby offer 40 M €

It might be worthwhile mentioning that Barrios moved from Dortmund to China in 2012, long before Xi pumped up football in China.

@Fracture90 Since Mikel was a free agent, Chelsea made two deals with two different Chinese clubs. Costa would be business with a third club. Nothing shady, considering that the vast majority of players Damien kindly listed from Traansfermarkt are from South or Central America where players traditionally try to make as much money as possible during their career to support not just their wives and kids but parents, grandparents, sibblings and their kids, uncles & aunts.

Furthermore, if I'm not mistaken, a couple of South and Central American managers and staff are in the CLS, including Felipe Scolari. IMO hat's a much more likely link between coaching staff and players from that region.

Let me add that Andre villas-boas the manager who wanted to take Oscar to Tottenham and personally scouted him in Brazil after he was fired from Chelsea (and before he moved to Spurs) is the manager of the same Chinese club that bought Oscar. Definitely a player manager asked for

What a way to stereotype two entire continents.

You would swear that being from the same continent makes everyone think alike.

Let me guess, you did not believe I was aware that there are exceptions?

Would be a decent signing for that price point imo. Proper winger and is technically sound too.

Not really the level we want to aim for. Would be a good signing for Everton imo.

I'd consider Bakayoko as more box to box. I don't think we would consider him for defensive midfield.

I agree, I like him. Would not say no to bringing him here. He wouldn't be a starter but he'd be useful to compete with any current players not pulling their weight. Also, and I'm going to get in trouble for this, young English talent

Pogba already plays box to box and I agree with you that Bakayoko plays the same position. Hence, Fabinho is the better option if there's no one else to consider.
