Easy: they saved Chelsea £20M by pulling out of a deal in the summer, so they got more agent fees as a sweetener.
That would be one massive assumption. Was it really the agent that stopped the deal going through in the summer. If so, have to question whether the agent is acting in self interest (for fees) rather than the players interest.

Nah, would have been a mix of both player and agent - agent making deal on behalf of player that would see Barkley get slightly better wages/signing bonus if they hold off until winter window. Either way Chelsea saved money by being able to hold the deal off until this window.

Actually kind of glad if Sessegnon stays. I'd like to give Shaw the chance for the rest of the year before we go for a replacement but I don't want Spurs to snatch him up in the meantime.

Sanchez on the bench for Arsenal tonight

Ozil not even in the squad

You can feel the ire building in the Arsenal Fan TV boys camp already!
The only small glimmer of hope they had was their big 2 had been "saved" for tonight!

Not really. A fecking tax bill can’t be added to a player’s transfer fee!
The Chinese FA have recently introduced a new rule where all Chinese clubs who buy foreign players have to pay the FA the transfer fee again in tax. The money then goes into grassroots football.

Yea I’m familiar with the rule. Not Sure that makes Bakambu the most expensive African transfer though. A tax bill is not part of a transfer fee.

I think you’re being picky. They still have to pay the money.

If you’re only thinking about highest transfer fee nobody else is.

I wouldn't say it's part of the transfer fee as the selling club aren't receiving it, think of it as a business transaction. Business buys any asset and has to pay the tax on top, they're two different payments to two separate businesses etc.
