Honestly never heard of this Palmeri guy, does he play regularly for Roma?

Everytime I've seen them their fullbacks have been Florenzi and Kolorov.

Seems a huge amount for a squad player.

Dzeko's a good pick up though. Been excellent at Roma and we know he can score in England from his time at Man. City.
Yeah I don't get it either, I'm a follower of Roma on the side and Emerson hasnt even started a game in the league this season only been used in the cup.

He's not a young raw talent either at 23! The must be something they have seen in him. Dzeko on the other hand is clinical and will get goals (scored tonight and had one disallowed) but his age is an issue in such an incredibly physical league. I love Italian football but Quagiarella has scored 16 in Italy this year and I doubt he'd even get into any premier league team. It's a completely different kettle of fish.

Madrid will try to sign de Gea for the third time. The operation has already been launched ()
David knows it, Mendes told him last week.
Price around 100m€

Madrid have such bigger problems than a new GK. Ridiculous club.

Feck, if Madrid are going to pay 100m for a GK, when they have literally every other position on the pitch to worry about, they're going to continue to struggle.

100 million pounds and I’d say it’s a fair price. Doubt they do it since it will eat up their budget for Kane and hazard and they’re not city or PSG who will go for the aforementioned if they’re available. Also they’d have to consider that we’re probably going to offer him insane wages for a keeper which I’d assume Mendes would want them to match.

Real Madrid are the institutional manifestation of that fat German kid from Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory though. They'll be back for him every year.

100 million for the best keeper in the world when someone not even the best at his club, coutinho, went for 140? No fecking way is that a fair price.

Coutinho had like 5 years on his contract (and was still Liverpool's best player despite Salah and Mane having one good year there each). De Gea has 2 (when his +1 clause gets activated). De Gea is worth more to us - there's no doubt about that - but time left on contract makes things tougher for us from a negotiation standpoint.

£100M would still see the transfer record for a goalkeeper smashed and unlikely to be topped for some time. Oblak's clause is €100M so we can just put most of the money into that with the added bonus of stopping Liverpool from getting one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Who was/is better than Coutinho at Liverpool? :wenger:

We should ask him flat out if he wants to go. If he doesn't then offer him a long contract with whatever amount of cash he wants and that's that.

If he does, then sell him for £100m sterling and use £20m of it to buy the most promising young keeper around. Romero is plenty good enough to do the job for a couple of seasons until one of Pereira or the new guy have proven them the real deal.

Madrid aren't spending 100m on a fecking keeper. If they did they would already have David.
My take on it is Madrid are putting pressure on Courtois for the summer.
Neymar / De Gea seems like names thrown out there to bide time. Lose v PSG and we'll see realistic players start to emerge as in new manager targeting different players.
Perez will be seen to step away from signing players that he could sign if he wanted..totally.. he just decided not to.

Yeah, this.

Not sure about the Cnutinho not the best at Liverpool bit, but agree with the rest , the price was ridiculous, and David being the best in the world (not just a great player) should be a bare minimum of £120m in this crazy market, I don’t care what the previous numbers are, hes the best so they need to go stupid on the price, hes 27, so has many years left, so if you want him Madrid dig fecking deep!

Romero isn't actually good enough. If de Gea leaves we need to sign a top keeper like Oblak.

Neymar is a whole different matter, but if De Gea is open to move, technically we could sign him. We do have the money to make it happen. It just doesn't make sense to make it happen at that price given our current situation

I've seen nothing from Romero to suggest he isn't good enough and little from Oblak to suggest he is significantly better. This is a keeper who started the last world cup final and who has kept 21 clean sheets in 34 appearances for this club. He's played throughout a winning Europa League campaign and has stood in admirably whenever De Gea hasn't been available.

I get this incessant need for shiny new things all the time but if we were to lose De Gea, letting a sure thing walk out from right under our noses just so we can gamble on a new player from another league would be the height of stupidity.

The delusion. If he was actually good enough to be first choice for a top team he would be. He isn’t on high wages either, someone would have taken him by now.

Signing Oblak to replace de Gea would not be the height of stupidity. Receiving 100 million for de Gea and not bringing in a top keeper to replace him would be.

This is like the kid that used to be cool coming out with the same jokes/phrases that made him cool 4 years later.

Nobody's interested anymore. Boring.

For almost 5 fecking years AS or Marca or fecking Madrid biased media touted this story that DDG is long overdue to come to his mother home fecking love yummy land. City is disgrace to football but Madrid is disgrace to human race. Couple with Cristiano love story every fecking years, they are behemoth of football but inside they are fragile child.

You're judging Romero by some preconceived notion of what he should be because he is second choice. I'm judging him with my eyes and by seeing the saves he makes, the clean sheets he keeps and the influence he has from the back.

Oblak is on about half of what Romero makes at United and as of yet, none of the big clubs have made any serious move to try and buy him. By your reasoning he can't be much good either.

The only big club looking for a goalkeeper is Real Madrid and they're more focused on De Gea. Hardly any club would be able to afford €100M for a keeper which is what it'd take to trigger Oblak's release clause.

You seem convinced that this is the year.

Everything adding up:
  • Courtois avoiding signing his contract (expires 2019)
  • De Gea putting off signing one too (expires 2019 with option of further year)
  • Madrid not signing Kepa
  • Spanish media going into overdrive
It'll be either Courtois or De Gea and I think you want De Gea more. Despite him being more expensive, he's the Spain number 1 and having that for the next 5-10 years would be a dream for your club.

Yes, I think the same. I don´t know why there are no rumors with Donarumma too.

My guess is that teams don´t rate him high enough to pay his release clause and deal with Raiola´s BS. Okay he´s young, but is he really world class or will be?

to be honest I have no idea about his season but with so much hype I expected Raiola to speak publicly, although as you say they would have to deal with him.

Let's see how the "operation" goes if Real end up qualifying for the Europa League next season.:)
