Nothing really to see. Slow day but it sounds like Atleti aren't expecting to keep Griezmann long term.

Yeah. Gervinho is joining the same club I think.

These moves don't last, though. I expect both of them to be back in Europe on loan in the summer.

I might be imagining it but seems like China is hoovering up a lot of talent at the moment. Would not be surprised if this sort of thing started happening more frequently

Has he regressed this season? Had been one of their most dependable players since he joined them
Don't think he's ever been all that good. He's a grafter, plenty of energy, foul machinez but felt he's always lacked any real quality.

He's scored a lot of important goals for them though, he was basically what Park was for us. Worked his socks off, and came good in big games and very underrated. Didn't realize he'd fallen so far down their pecking order

Good lord. Chelsea have to be lying about this.

Why?

The Chinese clubs have absolutely shit loads of money but no one to spend it on because no one wants to go there. Not hard to believe they can bung it all on one player if they've found someone to splurge it on.

I am sure Fellani would like to play in China. If not, there is always the horse's head in his bed tactic.

If that £20m is the fee, Chelsea have done it again. Bravo.

Guarin is going to China as well. Apparently Shanghai Shenhua have beaten Jiansung to his signature, who've turned their attention towards Ramires.

China may be on the way to becoming a major player in football. Their new $1.3 billion TV deal is second behind EPL. Along with the signings from Europe they also have been signing many top talents from Brasil.

If they manage their business well they will have to be taken very seriously in the future.

Europe will still have the glamour but they might be able to attract some second hand players who have either failed to make it at top clubs or are not good enough to earn huge wages in top European leagues. Guarin and Ramires are good examples actually.

What's the most popular sport in China? I can understand India being shit at football as they're pretty good at cricket, but can't think of any team sport China excels in.

Their league is growing, they're signing good players and have drawn quality managers like Marcello Lippi before. Why can't they produce at least one player who's above average? It's pretty weird considering their population number.

Table Tennis? Badminton?

This whole Chelsea set up seems very fishy. The Russian is probably kidnapping and holding someone's extended family in some gulags to get that kind of money in return.

I don't see them competing with top10 clubs anytime soon but they could easily outmuscle most Europa League level teams who barely have £10m to spend on a single player. They could also grab a big share of the football related business in Asia.

Sports youth development in China has been overwhelmingly targeted at individual olympic sports in order to maximize the olympic medals return. And they've been very successful.

Yes, but I'm talking about sports with teams of more than two players.

I think they're pretty decent at basketball (at least by the Asian standards), but that's about it.

Women's volleyball ; I believe women's football too.
