The fact multiple papers have this story suggests it has been briefed. A few possibilities:

Sterling's agent briefing it, trying to flush out the more realistic suitors of Chelsea and Man City?

Liverpool briefing it, so his eventual transfer to City or Chelsea won't seem that bad?

United briefing it to stir some serious shit and wind up Liverpool?

Jones, Smalling, Rojo, McNair, Blackett.... im not worried if we dont get a CB.

Priority should be right back, left back and CM. (and a striker if Falcao/RvP leaves..)

I was actually looking for the white text.

I bet Evans got your POTY award.

Worth noting that it's Tony Barrett reporting it for The Times, he's their primary Liverpool correspondent if i remember correctly?

Seems like an obvious leak but not really sure who gains much from leaking this, none of the people reporting are United covering journos

Lads this must be a Woody leak with the widespread coverage. We are engineering here!

@Kraftwerker

Or we have had some encouragement from the Sterling camp, we want to sign him and now is the attempt to unsettle him.

Liverpool would let him rot in the reserves rather than sell to us.

The fact Barrett has it suggests it's a PR move from Liverpool to soften the blow of eventual sale to City/Chelsea.

The details in the articles make it seem like a Liverpool brief, that they're not going to give in to the predators at Manchester United. We might as well have some fun and go as public with it as we can though. Hopefully it comes up in the press conference

Personally think it's a PR disaster if it is from Liverpool but considering how they handled the Suarez fiasco I am not surprised

This thread has exploded :lol: Otamendi, Hummels and Sterling updates all within the past half an hour or so.

There is zero chance of us signing Sterling. There would be more chance of us signing Messi, literally.
