I'd be fine going into next season with Jones, Smalling, Rojo and Evans as the primary CBs with McNair as backup provided someone could guarentee that the first 4 would stay fit for the majority of the season.
Unfortunately with their record that isn't the case. So we need to sell Evans and get another CB in. Mcnair isn't ready yet and Blackett is championship level.
We start the season with that collection of centre backs and we spend another season scrapping for a top 4 place.
So we went from no Hummels to no Ottamendi, to Ottamendi agreeing a contract and Hummels also being back on?

Zorc quote sounds more like him saying Hummels is thinking about leaving and they are trying to persuade him to stay.

Honestly, no. I actually typed out 'stirring' at first but realised I had a pun on my hands.
