That also seemed the case with Memphis until suddenly we "swooped" and now he's a United player.

It's a bit different, our interest was known. I don't remember any reliable journalists linking us with Pogba. City, PSG, Madrid and Chelsea are all rumoured to be in for him.

Pogba taking over the role of Fellaini with Herrera and Carrick playing deeper would be not too shabby.

Herrera is not a deep lying midfielder. Good further forward. Useless deeper. Him in that role for any team wins nothing in my opinion.

Burt fits into that category.

He's decent but not great, he got some things wrong last summer. English journos have been in the dark since LVG took over. They didn't know about Herrera, Rojo, Blind or Di Maria, or even Depay. They got Shaw right though.

I could see Chelsea signing Godin, but not Koke. Atleti aren't going to give up both, especially as they are gearing up for another league and CL run next year.
Koke has a 42million release clause and godin has a clause as well for...I think 28m? Chelsea could easily stump up that amount if they want him. Hopefully Koke/Godin have a sense of loyalty for Simeone and decide to stay.

Ffs, I didn't want this to happen, he deserved a chance or at least a preseason to show us what he's capable of after the season he's had. I hope there's a buy back clause in the agreement, if not, Dinamo are laughing all the way to bank with this 1.

Juve have already said he's not for sale and given how they dug their heels in over Vidal last summer I'd be surprised if that's not the case (with us at least) with Pogba this summer
We never even bid for Vidal, despite them gagging for it.

Pogba as a number 6 would be a monumental feck up. I hope van Gaal sees him as an 8 if he wants to buy him. Kondogbia would be great for us, cheaper option.
Well you've to remember that a LvG number 6 isn't a pure destroyer, but a proper all round midfielder

Can anyone explain to me what a number 6 actually does to a number 8? I'm a little bit baffled as to why football players get judged on their jobs by their shirt numbers

#6 is more of a DM while a #8 is closer to a box to box CM. Carrick would probably be considered as a #6 where as Herrera would be a #8.

Any rumored price? 31 goals in 31 apps, could be special!

From the article:

There's said to be an offer on the table from PSG for €30m but Le10 suggest he could also go to Manchester United for that amount with the Premier League club willing to put their money forward.

It'd be hilarious if we pip PSG to another of their targets. Would serve them right after that cnut Leonardo stole Lucas Moura from us.

I'm sure if this story is true then Lyon would be far more willing to sell to a club who isn't a direct rival of theirs.

Lacazette is the striker signing I really wanted, hope there is actually something in that

I don't understand why we are being linked with strikers who would be starters.

Rooney is a starter. RvP has started every single game he has been fit to start. Falcao is still not certain to leave. That's 3 strikers for one position already. Not sure how another helps us.

Even if Rooney was our only stiker, I would expect any other striker signed to just be rotation.

Maybe Van gaal doesn't like his current options.

I would have nothing against signing him, but he would be a pure striker. That means either him or Rooney up top. A bit of a waste, because both deserve to play. Thats why i would prefer someone more felxible, like Dybala, who could play on the wings too (in a 4-3-3).

Lacazette can play wide, the real problem is that le10sport is totally unreliable, that's basically a fiction magazine.

Wasnt it when he started at Lyon that he played wide? Read the express story, absolutely bullshit. PSG to sell Verratti :wenger:

But how much would Lyon want for him? 30m?

Can't really see Rooney being dropped or sold. But we'll see.

I don't think he'll be sold, but I don't think his place is exactly guaranteed anymore (as a 9) maybe he'll play as a 10, infact I think him playing as a 10 next season is more likely.
Having listened to what LVG has said this season, he's already said Rooneys selection as a 9 isn't guaranteed, also Falcao and RVP have played a lot when available this season.
Add to that the fact he has gone on record to say we don't have a 20 goal a season striker, I think he'll make a purchase there.

Thats a bit of a shame, would have been the perfect signing

Do we reckon Jason Burt has a point or is it interest bait to drive traffic to the Telegraph because the Depay news is done and they need filler?

Lyon need money, they will do what PSV did and accept all good offers, I think that they can't refuse offers around 25m.
