It's like they wrote the tweet a couple of months ago when Mata wasn't playing much, forgot to publish it, then stumbled over it and thought 'feck it' and tweeted it anyway. He's shown what a class act he is recently (if we didn't know already...which we did!) and ignoring the fact that we surely wouldn't dream of selling him, to suggest we'd sell him for £18.3 is quite ridiculous really.

We bought Mata 15 months ago for 37m and are selling him for 18? I mean, why not try to make it believable.

We were interested in Roberts last year, I think. Fulham put a £10m price tag on him to push us away.

Mata was easily a £35m player when we bought him, we slightly overpaid but the extra £3.5m was nearly worth it for his personality. With his recent form he's playing like a player of his original price tag or even higher (in a market where Mangala goes for £42m). So there isn't a snow balls chance in hell that we'll sell him for anything less than £30m.

Not that we're gonna sell either way, I love me some Juan <3

 None of that is reasonable

But neither is £18 million for Mata now that he's found a place in the team where he's doing quite well. I could see £25 million to a Spanish club if he wanted to go... Having said that, we do usually sell for stupidly low prices so we cant rule it out

What does @GlastonSpur think about this? He's not even fit to lace Eriksen's boots.

It's all just media bollocks. Spurs aren't interested in Mata.

PS. You should be less hard with your comment - he is one of your own players after all.

Mata is not for sale. Spurs and Levy can feck off. As can the people who write up this garbage.

I read that as if you're insulted Spurs are even rumoured to be interested in such a player

Yep, not sure why Spurs would be interested in another #10, despite his obvious quality. There's more pressing concerns in that Spurs team than going forward.

What a bizarre comment, there's really not much between the two and one of them plays for the club you support and just smashed 2 goals past Liverpool, great time to have a dig at him. Unless you were being sarcastic and it's gone right over my head?

This summer should be more enjoyable. Last season was far too stressful. Last season was a major overhaul this summer just a few tweaks to the squad.
Yup, the wait for signing last summer was horrendous. Top summer though. still think they'll be some shock signings that no one could if imagined.

He's having a dig at Glaston's previous comments on the two.

Yes lads, it was just a (bad) joke. I absolutely adore San Juan. Would only swap him for a select few in his position and Eriksen is not one of them.

Ah. Fair enough, it's hard to tell on here sometimes.

I'm not keen on either but Alves as a stop-gap for a couple of seasons appeals more than wasting £15M+ on Clyne.

What if sign both Alves and Clyne? Would mean the end of Rafa though
I think its the end of Rafael anyway. Doesnt seem like Van Gaal fancies him at all. We are actively looking for a new right back if you believe the reports (and are currently playing a right midfielder there). That screams bad news for Rafa, sadly.

Wasting? He's a top young English talent and he's played very well for Southampton this season.

How could that possibly be a waste of money?

His nationality is irrelevant, and he's very ordinary, poor defensive positioning and not all that great technically, he's fast and athletic and has a decent cross but he's not worth United shelling out for, we should aim higher but there's nothing out there. Alves is a dick but he'd give us breathing room to see what happens with Carvajal at Real after a season of getting Danilo'd.

Why on earth would we sign washed up(Or close to being washed up) players like Alves, especially for the wages being thrown about? We ain't AC Milan.

Clyne is actually a good player and having a pretty good season, he is only 24 as well and can continue to improve whilst improving our starting 11 as well. For £10-15million it's a no brainer.

He is a waste of money. He isnt better than Rafael or Valencia. The little time i saw him, he was average. Looked shite for England the other day. Plus he benefits by playing in a system and team thats suits him well. I am not sure about his abilities, especially playing for United. He is fast, but his defending and offensive qualities are average. Maybe i need to watch him more often, but i really wasnt impressed.

I would certainly prefer Coleman to Clyne. Clyne is technically ordinary at best, and with Shaw already being a work-in-progress offensively, Clyne on the other side would blunt us a bit going forward.

Clyne has been pretty good going forward. I would be confident enough that he would add to our attacks more than Valencia. My worry, would be his defensive game. The jury's still out for me on Clyne.
