I've always wondered what kept clubs of actually signing him. Talented fella who has been at Dynamo his whole life i guess.
Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Dortmund chief executive, said: “In this moment this a total dummy discussion, because there is no offer. If one arrives, we will discuss it internally and make a decision. But this decision will only be taken by BVB.
“The situation at Dortmund is like this: We’ve lost one major player each year but we don’t stop playing football. To be clear: Mats knows his contractual situation, he described it in that interview himself. The decision where Mats will play next season will only be taken by BVB.”
If it were feasible, would you swap Di Maria for Veratti? Can't think of many signings that would top Veratti this summer.

You should never have signed him in the first place. He had a decent last season at Arsenal and looked a decent player. Now?Even though we have a transfer ban, they can have him.
This is probably the only thing you'll remember him for:Even though we have a transfer ban, they can have him.
He'll feel the move was worth it because of his league title win. This is probably the only thing you'll remember him for:

I've got to be honest i've never really seen him play, what sort of midfielder is he and what are his main attributes? Who would he likely replace in our midfield too?

I'd snap call on a swap deal of ADM for Verratti, or any kind of transfer fee they want. Can't see why they'd want to let him go though.
(+ )This is probably the only thing you'll remember him for:
How bad is his disciplinary records? I don't really want a bad character in the dressing room no matter how good he is.They want Pogba and I think I heard Veratti has often had a tiff with the manager over his discipline.
He would replace Herrera, he can be a Pirlo or a Scholes. He is beautiful.
They can coexist in a midfield 3 to be fair.
Verratti has underrated defensive awareness and toughness reminiscent of Scholes despite his lack of stature. With more work on his long passing, he could play the base possession rondo role like Xavi. Ander can be the more offensive central midfielder who plays a bit further up the pitch, links up with the attack and plays quick one touch passes on top of offering high work-rate and some goal threat. Behind them you can have a strong defensive midfielder who patrols the central areas and drop deep between the center halves as a blanket.
Would be a great complement of technique, vision and resilience. And very hard to break down too, because Verratti and Ander are quite similar in some aspects and spatially inter-changable, plus both have silent determination and can press very well too, creating lots of room for the more attacking players.
I agree with you, I just meant that he would play Herrera's current role. In a midfield three Verratti can play with anyone.

Oh ok then.
BTW Are there any serious reports linking him with a transfer in the French media ? Or is this just Deily Mirror/ Metro type tabloid guff ?
Not that I am aware of, I think that PSG will never sell him willingly, the only way I can see that happen, is if someone throw the bank at them in Verratti's last year of his contract. The same applies with Marquinhos and Lucas Moura, PSG aren't stupid.
