Gareth has a short memory, he forgot how quickly and easily Di Maria was discarded for James....and Di Maria is a superior player.
His role was a lot more specific, too. Di Maria was the box-to-box, catalystic force that worked wonders for the 4-3-3, Bale doesn't really suit the current 4-4-2(?) that they're playing, and is far easier to replace.

I think Madrid want Reus (and Reus wants Madrid) so Bale is out, simple as that....not to mention the stupid amount of money we are apparently willing to part with to bring Bale back to the EPL.

I'm not even sure why Madrid would want Reus over Bale. He's not comparatively more marketable either if you go by their shirt selling logic.

The Di Maria situation isn't the same as the one Bale will be in.

I don't think Bale will leave Madrid.

This. They made him a world record signing, rest assured they won't be selling him anytime soon.

But this time last year, would you think Di Maria would've left in the summer?

Yes, there were rumours already they wanted to sell him, it wasn't a sudden thing, it was happening from the previous summer.

Like there is rumours about Bale now, you mean?

No. I could use this logic on every single player in world football.

Hardly. There is already plenty of rumours about players leaving their clubs in the upcoming summer, Hummels, Bale, De Gea, Balotelli, to name a few.

You wouldn't be overly surprised if any of those players had left their current clubs by the end of the next summer transfer window, I wouldn't imagine?

That's completely different to what you said before.

I say go all out for Reus as the attacking summer signing. £20 million would be a massive bargain.

Strange one.

I can only hope this has legs. Spurs could do with getting him off the wage bill and freeing up a place in the squad ... hopefully for Danny Ings.

If someone has made a bid and the other club ate happy to accept, why has it not been accepted?
I've just read the sport witness article and the Austrian reports are quoting a guardian article which doesn't seem to exist. Very weird.

Would be shocked if that turned out to be true. Would take him though as we need another boss goalscorer/attacking option.
