On the contrary, it will only feed into them. The only thing that will cool the narrative is if Ronaldo, towards the end of this season says he is going to finish his career at Madrid.
It's very unlikely that will ever happen, he loves playing or should I say using, United to get a better deal at Madrid.

Ahh that old nugget. He's already got a great deal at Madrid. The question is whether he wants to continue given an allegedly eroding relationship with Perez, and the fact that he has won his share of trophies there.

Maybe, the only thing that would tempt him back to United would be money. I don't believe for a second that he would come back for any other reason. His dream was to play for Real Madrid and he seems to be very happy there, even with his relationship with Perez being on somewhat shaky ground.

I don't think he's interested in money as much as some might believe. After all, top players these days can earn far more through endorsement deals than by way of their actual salaries. At this point its all about where he wants to play his football on the backend of his career. I'd imagine he could do a few years at OT and maybe one or two final years at Sporting or the like.

That's fair.

When he's constantly competing with Messi? No chance, he'll spend his final days at the highest levels for as long as he can.

He's not competing against Messi though, and nor does he have to play in the same league as him to excel.

Don't understand why we'd want Cuadrado considering we got/want rid of Nani.

They're similarly frustrating and where would Cuadrado fit in the diamond? We'd have to play 3-5-2 and I personally never want to see it again, especially not to fit in an inconsistent, average player who'd cost the absolute earth.

LVG has already changed formation to improve the team, I don't think he would have a problem changing the formation again to further improve the team. As LVG has stated that this is the best formation for the players we currently have. If and when LVG decides to buy more players a change in formation is not doubtful.

Strootman seems a highly likely, but not Cuadrado imo, especially if we buy Ronaldo. We would obviously also need to buy a top defender so Ronaldo, Strootman, and a top defender in the Hummels quality range.

I do agree with you on all of what you have said. We do need a defender in Hummels quality range but I'm not quite sure on Hummels himself, he does have quite a bad injury record over the last few years. I do think he is 1 of the best defenders around and if we can keep him fit he would be an excellent buy.

Cuadrado is nowhere near good enough to change just for him though.

Ronaldo in the near future is not happening I'm sure he'll come back maybe in 2 or 3 years but soon no way.

Reasons: He will obviously want to break the Madrid goalscoring record and Madrid are currently the best team in the world.
He is banging in hat-tricks every week and by next summer he be 30 and would still cost about 100m as Madrid wouldn't sell him for less due to the money he makes the club. I'd say when he is 32-33 he will come back

I was thinking that selling one of the strikers next summer after spending the second half of the season on the bench would be the final piece of the transition to 4-2-3-1, if we keep this current system I think we'll get done by most of the better teams, it's too open.

We don't need to sell any strikers if we move a 4-2-3-1 formation.
ST - Falcao > RVP (sub) > Wilson (back up)
#10 - Rooney > Mata (sub)
RW - Di Maria > Januzaj (sub)
We need top quality in the team and as long as we can satisfy the players with enough game time we'll be okay. We would however need to buy 2 right footed Wingers and buy 1 more CM. I agree that the current formation is too open.

Don't think he will ever come back, does not make sense financially for us. He had his chance last summer, and flattered his eyelashes and played us till the very end to get a far better contract at Madrid.

Which right footed Wingers are good enough that we can buy?
Ronaldo - not going to happen
Reus - BM bound
Ribery - ?
Hazard - no chance
Moura - no
Sanchez - not now
Pedro - ?
Neymar - ain't going to leave
Navas - no
Nani - given up on him
Cuadrado - possible
Depay - possible

I'd like to see UTD go for both Cuadrado and Depay, 2 top quality player.

i wouldnt dismiss Moura and Reus, maybe even Pedro. Why should Reus be Bayern bound? Yes they probably want him, but i dont know if he would go there.

Enrique doesn't seem to rate Deulofeu. They have Messi, Neymar, Suarez for the front 3 as things stands and even Munir seems to have superseded Gerard. Wouldn't mind chucking £30 odd million in Barcelona's direction, the transfer ban now-withstanding. Was good at Everton and has been playing at an extremely high level on loan at Sevilla and I reckon he'll become one of the leading attacking midfielders of his generation. His ceiling is incredible. Don't rate Cuadrado that highly to be fair.

In a perfect world I agree but I am not sure players like RvP and Mata will be content sitting on the bench. As far as needing two right footed wingers, I think these days with wingers cutting in more and fullbacks providing a lot of the crosses, it's less important which foot they use and Januzaj is two footed as well, plus I still hope for Lingard to be able to make a case for himself as a wide attacker in that kind of formation.

As regards the Ronaldo rumours, he is probably one of my favourite ever footballers but when you factor in the prices that are being touted combined with his age then I don't see it as a viable move. I would prefer we go for someone like Reus or Bale if we are going to go for a superstar attacker.

I honestly don't see Reus going Bayern, Barca or Madrid... sadly if it comes down to us and Chelsea next summer they'll be league champions.

Wouldn't be a bad signing IMO. Looked decent enough in the world cup but he would be a good squad option for any of the positions in the back 4.

My only lasting memory of him is when he had the freedom of the right flank as Baines was scared and kept coming closer to the middle to get help from the CB, and Rooney completely forgot his tracking back duties.

hopefully this time is for real... quality defender with his peak years ahead.

Him + Rojo/Smalling/Blackett/Evans, etc etc at the back

This way Jones is free to go back to midfield, where he can be himself with no restrictions.

HAHA garay, christ 3/4 seasons now?

Am I missing a tweet or something?

What?? Jones sees himself as a CB and always has done. Smalling will be gone by next season

thats why i put the etc etc...

Phil Jones might see himself as a CB, but he certainly won't argue or refuse to play in midfield. He loves to be that versatile player able to play whenever he is most needed. He will be captain someday and he leads by example.

Also, he clearly has a weak spot for midfield (not so much right back, but wouldn't argue of course).

Our best football for the last 3-4 years has been no exception with Phil Jones in midfield. In Europe and in the league. Every time he gets injured, we pretty much have been fecked.

So yeah, i want Phil Jones back in midfield. asap.

Surprised to see Garay linked again given he just moved to Zenit in the summer. Certainly had a decent WC and has the experience we are missing in defense.

Not a transfer related tweet but still one none the less and I didn't know where else to put it but look at this it's just ridiculous considering the amount of money he must earn a week. It's no wonder why many footballers get called thick.

You think only poor people gamble?

I'm baffled as to why a Premier League footballer who would be on no less than £20k a week is buying lottery. Just damn right bloody greedy if you ask me.
