Didn't SAF drop Rooney and Evans for the infamous Blackburn game for going out a few days before as well?

Yup, When we had that delightful Rafael - Park in Centre Midfield combo, The game that also made Pogba's mind up about leaving us

Yeah, and they are both still here (Rooney and Evans). So I don't see why Vidal being fined for a similar misdemeanor means he would be sold. It's a non-story.
So that one isolated incident involving completely different players, at a different club, in a different country means the opposite couldn't possibly happen?

I'd take Strootman. He's younger, and with all the talent we have going forward we need a more disciplined midfielder - Strootman is that footballer.

No? That's just an example of a similar incident at United where a player went on a night out against the club's permissions and received a fine. I am sure similar incidents happen at almost every club, doesn't mean that the player in question ends up being sold, specially if he is as vital to them as Vidal is to Juventus. How often has a player been sold just because of an isolated incident where he stayed out late before the day of the game, specially a player as important as Vidal? If Juventus want to sell him, they would sell him irrespective of this isolated incident if they think the money they would get for him is worth more to them than having Vidal in the squad.

The original Tweet or the majority of the reports haven't speculated it is entirely down to this one incident either.

Knee problems, dropped from the lineup after being caught clubbing the night before a big game.

35m is too much.
Is his knee actually a concern any more? Surely less so than Strootman's anyway.

Haven't seen much of him this season, but surely however he comes back, he'd be more than worth it, it's a non-story though, but it doesn't stop people speculating, I don't see him or Strootman leaving Jan

I think we might have dodged a bullet not going all in for Vidal in the summer.. Herrera and Blind look good and if Vidal is really being frozen out at Juve then we could sign for a much cheaper price in Jan or next summer

Vidal in January would be ideal, he'd add the missing ingredient to our midfield and hopefully would signal the end of playing with two strikers.

We might have dodged a bullet not going for him full stop given his currrent behaviour problems

You do know that Falcao is a loan deal with an option to buy?

I do. If we have the option and want to buy him, he's obviously ours for keeps, which would make the idea of Rooney going the other way somewhat meaningless since we would at that point own both players.

Ah I see what you mean. With Monaco's interest in Rooney if they were willing to trade Falcao for Rooney I would be okay with that. I know everything Rooney has done for us over the year but as of now I don't class him as good a striker as Falcao, what I see Rooney as is a supporting striker.
We were linked with Cuadrado in the last window and it looks that we will be going in for Strootman in the coming window or in the summer. I do hope get both players and sign Falcao on a permanent basis.

I'm actually not particularly sold on Falcao. I was on the player he was at Atletico, but am not convinced he can return to that form after his injury. We made the right decision to look at him on loan with an option to buy, as opposed to just diving in and buying him outright. He may show flashes of his old form, but he turns 29 this season and isn't likely to remain in WC form for much longer, especially following a significant injury. I'd rather we buy Ronaldo next summer, who would imo provide us with a goal return equal to any two of Falcao, Rooney, and RvP combined. Plus he would work well with Rooney and Di Maria and contingent on a good defender, would instantly put us back in the mix in the league and CL.

Attention seeking cnut, but he's right.

The only thing that it is, is that we have an entire defence made up of injury prone players. He seems intent on calling out training methods but the reality is, is that it was no different under Fergie or moyes with the players we have out.

Bringing Ronaldo would be amazing no doubt about that. Rooney and Falcao are the same age and looking at both in physical terms I'd say Falcao will be better for years to come. I already prefer Falcao's movement as a striker to Rooney's even if he hasn't been fired on all cylinders. I do think Falcao would be better as a lone striker as would RVP be then in a strike partnership.
In all honesty I'm not a big fan of the #10 position and I'd rather have a DM + 2 CM + 2 Wingers and a ST. I wouldn't mind letting go off Rooney, Mata and Fellaini if we could acquire Strootman, Cuadrado and Falcao.

He's a twat.. I'd assume that our fitness coaches and sports science people are among the best in the business, so why don't he try to get a job at a big football club instead of doing seminars around the world?

Hardly a safe assumption, especially given our injury record.

Strootman seems a highly likely, but not Cuadrado imo, especially if we buy Ronaldo. We would obviously also need to buy a top defender so Ronaldo, Strootman, and a top defender in the Hummels quality range.

Agree

Don't understand why we'd want Cuadrado considering we got/want rid of Nani.

They're similarly frustrating and where would Cuadrado fit in the diamond? We'd have to play 3-5-2 and I personally never want to see it again, especially not to fit in an inconsistent, average player who'd cost the absolute earth.

Don't think anything will signal the end of playing with two strikers, other than getting rid of at least one of them.

I was thinking that selling one of the strikers next summer after spending the second half of the season on the bench would be the final piece of the transition to 4-2-3-1, if we keep this current system I think we'll get done by most of the better teams, it's too open.

Hopefully this will put a stop to all the 'Ronaldo to United' rumours we were bound to have this summer.

On the contrary, it will only feed into them. The only thing that will cool the narrative is if Ronaldo, towards the end of this season says he is going to finish his career at Madrid.
