Incredible how he has had to take a 15M hit on what would otherwise be two cracking deals for Del Piero and Raúl. Those two for the same money as Pirlo/Scholes. Goes to show how much people prioritise their "midfield battles" over genuine quality and class upfront.

Neymar is bar Silva and Ribery the best LW performer in an extreme high press/high possession football who plays there week in week out. So even if he is not the best individually he is one of the best for my tactics. I'd rate him above Ronaldinho/Cristiano in the high press for example, even if they of course are much more talented going forward.

Neymar in Barcelona doesn't interest me too much except his proven partnership with the Barca trio, what interests me is his defensive brilliance in Brazil and how he combines it with lethal counters, goal-scoring and creativity when in possession.

Neymar has played for Brazil for 3 years now and his goal-scoring ratio is world-class there.

it also depends on what one values in a defender.i don't rate the vidic/terry school of defending much, so i guess whatever you do it isn't going to change my outlook. especially i am not sure hyppia is the right partner for him.

as for tevez, i think it would have worked better if the striker was someone more mobile unlike RvN. I am not sure this formation is really going to help him. of course having beckham definitely helps on that front, but not sure how successful you are going to arguing the case for tevez/ aguero/RvN attack.

That's fair play. I think that that type of defender has a role in football. I don't think Ferdinand would be as recognised as he is without someone like Vidic next to him.

Regarding my attacking players, in the right system I think that can certainly work.

Aye, its functional but I do feel you were so well-placed to come up with something a bit more exciting. I think of Deco as being better suited to playing a bit deeper, so I'd have loved to have seen Totti or Kaka at the tip of the diamond instead.

But then that's what the draft matches are for. I might well be wrong about Deco's position, and there's a good chance I'm underrating Malouda's peak form. As ever I'm open to persuasion in the match threads.

Malouda is a natural left footed player. CL winner. Operated under the same left of diamond for Chelsea. He is capable of drifting to wings and has a very good work rate. Contributes offensively and tracks backs defensively. 19 goals and 20 assists during his peak 2 seasons at Chelsea. I agree that he will be underrated here, but he can do the job and quite good at that.

As for Deco, this is the same formation he played for CL winning Porto side in 2004!
