we will need someone active like Gio/Balu to step in really even if it is for temporary basis. Someone else can take the team from them later on
 
Or get @antohan back? I don't agree with his tactics, because of the risk. If it backfires he ends up with so much fines and we end up with a team less. But in all fairness to him, it still is a valid strategy! I do not agree with his 'kicking out' if that's what happened!

Nesta is the best defender in the draft so let's see if anyone outbids him. Thuram for 40m is also a steal as is Rivaldo at 60m

I almost put in a bid for Pep, issue is having him restricts the formation badly. You need a midfield 3 to play him and I would prefer going forward with some flexibility.

Agreed about the rest, very good price if it stays like that.

He was insane at his peak, for around 1.5-2 years but went downhill pretty badly. His story would always remain of "what could have been". I have a few of those and might use them as bargains later on. :p
 
I must say that EAP/Rpitroda/Kps are my round winners. Too much money getting wasted here and nobody has money left to compete with these three in the future.

As long as they remain smart and don't push each others players too high. If they are smart they make a deal on which players they want and avoid getting in each others ways. Then I can see a Robben/Ribery combination going for 35 m each when they in this round would go for 50 possibly.

Adriano at his peak is an absolute world-class player, but I think Nani falls under the same category. Everybody defines the word peak in these drafts differently and at least 40-50% will define peak with a 2-3 year period - which makes these players fall short.

He was but that peak lasted one season IMO. He will get little credit for record in Brazilian league as well. I don't think he was good enough to be picked here. I can easily think of 16 strikers better than him who qualify

12-18 months yeah. It depends though on how people define peaks and in which system they want somebody. Can you name 5 strikers to be bulldozing the front line physically who top Adriano?

For example I'd have Adriano ahead of Drogba if we were just talking about pure peaks. Similar players and Adriano tops every aspect in comparison.

I find it hard to take a 12~ish month peak too serious though in comparison to the rest of the players. A wasted career.

I watched him a lot during 2004/5, even at Confed cup since I was in Germany at that time. That was when he was getting Ronaldo comparison. He feel off steeply from that peak though. As I said one wonder season does not a great player become.

It is not me you have to sell him anyway. I would suggest making him the 12th man because I don't see him getting much credit with most of the voters especially if you run into a strong defense

I don't think the first two you were listed were great at all. Only 2004-5 was great one. Plus he was compared with Ronaldo version 2.

I don't agree that his peak was as extended as you are trying to make it out to be. He wasn't at his absolute peak in 2003 for example, he was still a work in progress by then who had massive talent.

Indeed. I thought this draft would be Zidane's to shine in as well considering he is the outstanding AM. There are more options in the wide areas I'd say, Ronaldinho/Ronaldo/Messi/Nedved at that very top level. Up front you got Ronaldo/Messi but for the AM position it is basically Zidane then quite a big drop for the Rivaldo/Iniesta

Riqueleme and Zidane simply can't be in the same team. It would never work. Giggs is fine with either.
