I've seen a discussion once I believe when he was used as a wing-back, that he wasn't suited to it as he was primarily a defensive giant rather than the complete full-back he actually was.

Of course if they scan-vote they may believe so and just vote against it thinking Amoros is a bit off as a wing-back. Just a theory, I wouldn't blow Amoros of yet before I've seen him get on the short stick in a 4 man defense.
 
Any suggestion or offers to solve for X (no TP points)?

I could also play Suarez as a left-winger and use a 9 as long as they were mobile enough to not get in Messi`s way. Lots of them around. But against quality opposition, I prefer more 2-way players out there.

Well, that's hard to tell - but I'd think...this: the old school brigade, who knows anything about Amoros, would've surely given you credit for him. Casual voters would've failed to recognize him, possibly - but I can't believe anyone would have positively let him count against you. That would indicate sheer ignorance if so.

He and Costacurta are the best non-TP defenders around, so the bidding has been large. Nowhere else to really spend the money for most of us anyways.

Did you pick up Tresor? Otherwise he is available and absolute top quality of a CB. One of the best non-TP rated ones, would look good with Amoros there later too.

I agree, I would add Lizarazu up there as well and I'd have Jorginho sniffing for a top spot as well. Is Koeman available? He is the best then, the only stand-out really but of course a huge vote-loser.

Ronald is up for grabs. The problem with him is a) that he seems to be underrated as a pure defender (unfairly to an extent) and b) that he needs to fit into a certain set-up (which is fair enough, in my opinion, because he is more of a specialist and less of an all-rounder).

He is horribly underrated here as a defender. By far the most underrated player on the CAF. If you have a great 4 man defensive line, then add Koeman - suddenly you have a really weak defensive line which is prone of conceding random goals.

Play Suarez as an inside left, Messi as a false 9 and look for a right winger would be my suggestion. There's no player that makes sense where that x is in my opinion.

I know - but them's the breaks. His undoubted offensive qualities somehow mars his defensive ones - as though he's some sort of fish out of water considered as an "actual" central defender. It seems you have to be Beckenbauer himself in order to escape this stigma - and it's quite ridiculous.

Agreed. You can't have your cake and eat it with Messi in there. Either you trust him to do the business as one of the very few in football history who can actually pull it off at the highest level as a so-called false nine - or you go for a different set-up altogether.
