Transfer Deadline Day

"They didn't give me written permission but when you are gentlemen you understand each other easily," said Odemwingie.

"I had to be in training that morning but when that was done I asked if I could go as I had to pack and start driving. I got the go-ahead from him as far as I understand so I went round and said goodbye to everyone and thank you. In my opinion everything was done right.

"I knew that it took two hours to drive to London and I had to be there because we were 90% there and then the deal didn't happen."
Seems like miscommunication between the player and club, should have waited for written permission before going down to QPR.

To play he would have to at least make a public apology and back down - instead he's out there making unauthorised interviews again today. There's no way he could be trusted to go out on the pitch and do his best, or worse, actively try and sabotage a game.

He'll go to Russia if the moneys good enough. He's going to get an absolutely horrific reception if he ever plays at The Hawthorns again.

The whole deal was a bit bizarre. If QPR were so keen on him, and seemingly they were, why only offer a maximum bid of 3.5m? Zamora who was also 31 they paid 6m rising to 7m last year, clearly the Samba deal shows they're not being prudent this year.

You are completely right in what you say.

I just feel that his agent / PR team, will have him issue some half arsed apology to the fans, who won't buy it, well hopefully anyway, but I feel it will happen. I would be amazed if he didn't play a single game for you's again. It's a sad indictment of player power in modern football.

It would be pretty despicable if he did go back to Russia, given the racial abuse he suffered from his own fans, whilst there. Money talks, I guess. Maybe a loan move to the Middle East might be in the offing, it seems the new done thing.

I'm surprised by his actions. He has always come across - to me anyway - as a decent chap who appreciated the chance that WBA gave him.

I don't see how what we will do with Begovic? Will we sell Lindegaard? Will Begovic be content sitting on the bench for most of the games? I doubt so!

They have no strikers. One injury to Defoe and their season is in big trouble. They have one functioning striker in Defoe.

Defoe - 10 goals
Bale - 10 goals
Dempsey - 5 goals
Lennon - 3 goals
Adebayor - 2 goals

This will be the reason why they don't get 4th spot this year imo. Although they are doing a great job of getting knocked out of every cup, so perhaps with the limited games they may stand a chance.

Two questions, what was the Diame stuff about? And who was the player Big Sam was talking about today who left a manager he was talking to to get some coffee then fecked off and signed for someone else

Stephen Warnock, I think.

DJ Campbell: Hull boss Steve Bruce unhappy at striker walkout

Hull City boss Steve Bruce has revealed that QPR striker DJ Campbell walked out on talks with the club to meet Blackburn Rovers after claiming he was going to get lunch.

Campbell remains with Rangers after failing to finalise a deal at Ewood Park before the deadline on Thursday.

"The way they handled the situation, saying they were going for lunch and then going to Blackburn, was shocking," Bruce told BBC Radio Humberside.
"I've never felt so disappointed."

He added: "We were left trying to find out where they were for the best part of two hours.

"I've got absolutely no problem with him going to Blackburn if they'd just phoned and said 'thanks for your offer but we've had a wonderful offer from Blackburn'.

"The lack of respect by him and his representatives left a bad taste in the mouth."

Bruce signed Campbell, 31, for Birmingham City when he was manager there and said earlier this month that he was hopeful of bringing the striker to the club.

The Hull boss was not present at negotiations with the player as he was attending a work permit for Egyptian signings Mohamed Nagy and Ahmed Fathi in London.

The Tigers, who are third in the Championship, travel to Millwall on Saturday.

Classy guys.
