Transfer Deadline Day

BBC ran it too - from all accounts we offered £10m but they want £15m.

Sounds about right, i'd say he's worth about that in the market the way it is. Arsene seriously needs to realise that this late in the day you're going to need to pay a little over the odds, especially from another premier league team.

Spurs are trying to fill their team with players who have underservedly won player of the year awards.

The Stoke fans are back, complete with pitchforks and torches.

Seriously, what the feck is up with their faces? Is this some sort of performance art thing?

Mertesacker's quote upon signing made me laugh. It was the sort of thing you say when you join a middle ranking, stepping stone club. He talked about how London and the Premier League was always an aim. Nothing about Arsenal...

Anton Ferdinand deal being held up.

Mark Ogden from the Telegraph:

'It looks as though the last person to leave Old Trafford has turned off the lights and put Manchester United's transfer window to bed. As of 7pm, there have been no takers for Darron Gibson or Tomasz Kuszczak, while Newcastle's apparent loan move for Federico Macheda has failed to materialise.

Meanwhile, Wesley Sneijder will join the likes of Patrick Kluivert, Ronaldinho, Marcelo Salas, Miguel Angel Nadal and Alan Shearer (remember him?) as going through an entire summer as a United transfer target, but ending up choosing against a move to Old Trafford.'

Desperate stuff from Arsenal.

Best thing was on his personal homepage where he stated that Arsenal desperately needed cover as they sold Samir Nasri and defender Cesc Fabregas.
