Transfer Deadline Day

Liverpool have signed U18 striker Villyan Bijev

What a shit day it has been. Arsenal and Chelsea fans are eagerly awaiting and talking for news of new players while we are here discussing that has no concern to us. Even the dippers have Craig fecking Bellamy to talk about

Right so Arsenal are now after Arteta and Augusto. This is turning into an interesting deadline day for us. Must be boring for the caf though.

I'm pretty sure pete's said he didn't think Arteta was good enough for you before, so on that basis it's keeping me interested. It's almost like Arsene is trying to spite him.

To be honest I much prefer getting our signings in before pre-season. No complaints here.

What are your thoughts on Arteta Al? Decent midfield stopgap?

Damn you Ferguson and your presence of mind. Completing all your transfers months in advance, you bastard!

I think it's fair to say Pete's summer shopping list would not have comprised 'Sack of Merde', a Brazilian fullback, Arteta and a bloke named Park...

Have you seen what Pete thinks about Mertesacker?

For what it's worth, I don't rate Arteta that highly - think he's a bit over-rated to be honest, but as a squad player he's more than good. (answers Mike's post too now I've just seen it).

I know I'm watching Sky Sports News for free, but I want my money back.

Aye, I can't help feeling that little Jew kid is having a shit Christmas.

Can't speak for the other members here, but I get a vicarious thrill watching Arsenal sell their best players during the Summer then replacing them with inferior ones in a mad, last minute Supermarket Sweep-esque rush.

I rate Arteta... he was proper good 2 or 3 years ago, haven't seen much of Everton recently though.

These 4 or 5 signings are definitely a step in the right direction though, if only for a bit more squad depth. If Wilshere, Ramsey, Chamberlain and a few players really kick off this season you could be in the fight for 4th place after all, and in a position to build from there.

Well whoever we sign will be inferior to Fabregas to be honest. I would have preferred us to 'do a United' this summer, but now's better than never.

I worry about United without Fergie. I'm not a transfer muppet but we've needed a fecknig midfielder for 2 bloody years and it's only through the absolute genius of Sir Alex that we're in the position we are. Would any other manager in the world have been able to cope with an obvious lack of funds being made available?

We've spent money but we've made some of it back, have saved a shit load on wages through released/retired/sold players wages and as a club we make £300million revenue a year so I'm not entirely 'wowed' by the money spent on our 3 all be it excellent signings this summer. It wouldn't be enough for any other manager in the world I don't think.

Jack Wilshere trying it on with Georgie. Check for a cock, Jackie boy.

Wenger bringing Arteta in for experience.

Who knows better about horrible starts than an Everton player?

My fear for you is that it's all way too late. It'll take time to hit the ground running as you can't simply take 3 or 4 players and chuck them into the team and expect it to automatically click. By the time it starts to come together (if it does and these signing make a difference) your rivals for the top four could be long gone - you're already 6 and 8 points off as it stands. One saving grace I suppose is that you've already played two of your so called rivals for the top four.

He'll leave us with a midfield quartet of Anderson, Cleverly, Morrison and Pogba when he retires, and everyone asking for a midfielder right now will be saying "thank fecks SAF manages united and I don't"..

Our start has been ludicrous - it'll be easier from here. I still think we're better than Liverpool when it comes down to it. They'll struggle to beat good teams away whilst we were fantastic away from home last season. I'm also convinced the new signings, whilst not being astonishing themselves, will at least show the rest of the team that we mean business and will hopefully give everyone a lift.
