Tour de France 2010

Once early on, once just before the climb to Col de Ramaz and then on the class 3 hill summit before the climb to Morzine when somebody fell at a food station, Armstrong didnt fall but was hampered.

Ok, I only saw the to last ones.

Armstrong is out of this Tour, but I feel he was never in it.

Horrible day for Lance, and to be fair it's been a horrible tour for him. It's a shame considering he was looking at perhaps getting on the podium at the end. However, he's probably used all his luck up in previous tours and it's catching him up.

Wiggins dropped at the end, perhaps Sky's tactics weren't to clever, but they'll learn from that and so will Bradley, this year was always going to be tough for him.

Contador looked a little rough towards the end of that stage, but I guess they put a lot in knowing tomorrow's a rest day. Can't wait to see what happens over the next few days in the Alps, as how they leave the Alps will determine how the race is going to unfold.

No luck, he's always been the best.

Well this time was always going to be harder. Shame though the way he totally lost the race today.

Evans Shleck Contador is going to be fascinating. Hope Contador does not win it though.

I agree with all of this.

Looking forward to the rest of this week.

The real question for Lance now is whether he can come back and grab a few stage wins. He's out of the running in the tour, but I think he's still got one good stage left in him. Something to remember him by.

Contador shouldn't be too worried. Evans couldn't keep up with him proper on some of those sprints 'which pains me' although Schleck will be interesting. I like Andy so it would be good for somebody other than that pompus bastard 'Contador' to take the title.

There have been times when he's not been caught in falls, times when he's gone off road as well to avoid crashes. He's been the best for sure and I'm not taking that away from him. What was meant was that the times when he's taken that bit of good fortune, has caught him up this year. You need a bit of luck here and there to win big events like Le Tour, but 2010 has seen zero for Lance.

Evans has dropped totally.

Shleck/Contador is a good battle, they're going to destroy each other if they keep attacking. One attacks and the other follows. They've blown the peloton apart. I came into this Tour disliking Contador but he's growing on me.

That was a great stage. Contador and Schleck brought themselves right to the front at the end.

Poor guy.

He biked with a fractured arm. He really did not stand much of a chance on a stage as punishing as this.

Absolutely shattered for Cadel...really did think this was his year. The stars were lining up, but rotten luck.

Fractured elbow and he still kept going...no way he was going to survive this last mountain stage...

It's sad to think maybe the Tour is simply beyond him for whatever reasons. :-(

Compare it to all the pussy footballers who dive and act as if they're dead when tackled hard.

Yep. And cycling still gets an image as a 'pussy' sport, but the amount of hardwork that goes into something like the Tour is amazing. Surviving it and making it to Paris is one thing, but to contend for the yellow jersey is another. Amazing athletes.

It's gotten to a point where I wonder how some can manage to not use drugs. It's a crazy sport

They all use something or other to help that's why so many Cyclists are listed as Asthmatic.

Though the battle Schleck/Contador reminds me a little of the good old days when Ulrich and Armstrong were battling it out for honours.

Yeah that used to be class

Basso was good at times as well.

Andy Schleck, my pre-race favourite, is looking really really good. He will need to attack Contador in the Pyrenees. Contador will gain time on him in the time trial. I really want Andy to win it because that sets the tour up for exciting battles over the next few seasons with two riders at the top of their game.

Agreed! He's got what, 40 seconds right now? I think he'll need to gain at least another minute on Contador to stand a chance on the time trials. Pyrenees will be insanely exciting!

Boring stage today, I wish the all were mountain stages :smirk:

Renshaw is quality, I love him. His headbutt was great

Renshaw thrown out of Tour according to SSN :(

Race official Jean-Francois Pescheux confirmed: "Renshaw was declassified immediately but we have decided to also throw him off the race. We've only seen the pictures once, but his actions are plain for all to see. This is a bike race, not a gladiator's arena."
