Tour de France 2010

Vinokourov just dropped Contador, strange.

Hushovd wins, great second place for Sky's Thomas.

Armstrong's about 2 mins behind.

Think Contador had a puncture and Vinokourov didn't know. Very impressed with Thomas today, can't wait for this to get into the mountains though.

Perfect day!

Hushovd wins, and Cav doesn't take a point.

A. Schleck, Wiggins and Cadel get time on Lance and Contador. And the beast Cancellara gets to ride in the yellow tomorrow.

Apart from the injury to F. Schleck that was a perfect race.

Also a good example on the difference between Cavendish and Hushovd. Cavendish is the best in a sprint, but relies solely on this team dragging him to it.

Hushovd on the other hand can win stages like this, he can take points in the mountain as well. That will win him the green I think, injuries permitting.

Couldn't agree more!

Oksen fra Grimstad gjør det igjen :D

Spot on. Being the best sprinter doesn't always win you the green jersey. Hushovd has the power and stamina to get himself in good positions in almost any type of stage.

These finishes when Hushovd is up there are bloody nerve-wracking though!

More importantly for today, Hushovd is a great cobblestone rider. Always does wel in Paris Roubaix and other cobble-races.

Today's stage was perfect for specialists like Cancellara, Hushovd, etc. I'm kinda surprisded that Andy Schleck and Contador did so well today. They're physically not exactly built for this kind of work. So they did a great job today.

Too bad Boonen missed the Tour. He would have won this one.

All the blow in Miami wouldn't have been enough for Boonen against Hushovd today.

It's a points jersey, not a sprint jersey.

Brilliant race yesterday. Can't wait for this to get to the mountains. Will be interesting to see how Andy copes without his brother in the mountains. And just how good is Armstrong at the moment? Can he compete with Schleck and Contador?

Cobblestones screwed up Armstrong. He's lost what 55 secs on Contador?

Contador did surprisingly well tbh

Petacchi wins. Cavendish was in a great position but dropped off, Petacchi was too quick.

I had money on Petacchi to beat Cavendish, so I'm chuffed Cavendish is a bit rubbish this season.

I also had money on Cavendish to beat Husvod, that didn't turn out well. Cavendish just gave up while Thor had to fight for a couple points.

As I understand it, Lance was in position to make time on Contador then got a flat, fell behind and ultimately lost ~ a minute.

That's a pretty big handicap to be giving up, I had a feeling that Lance could be a bigger threat this year since last year was his first back at a competitive level in like 4 years. Giving up a minute could be bad. I'm guessing Lance will pull some time back in the team time trial but he was probably counting on that to gain time, not make it up.

This could be a really really good tour if Lance has improved over last year, and he should have.

A bit of strange sprint today.

They started too early it seemed, and Hushovd and Cavendish both fell tired at the end. Will be interesting to see if Petacchi can make it to Paris this year, if he can then he will be dangerous in the fight for the green.

Happy about Boasson Hagen today as well, third place is good for him.

Cav got his victory today, great finish from him. He will be tough from now on.

Nice to see two Noggies among the first five, and also nice to see that Edvald gets his second third place in a row.

Absolutely.

Even I felt some sort of sympathy with the guy today. Nice interview too, really praised his team and Renshaw in particular.

Still the guy to beat in a mass sprint, but I don't think he will have the green in Paris.

Renshaw and HTC in general have been pretty brilliant yesterday and today.

That said, I don't think anyone beats Cavendish when he has a good day.
