Television Top Gear

There would, in the UK and in the short term. They'd still make bucket loads of money abroad. And how do we know the other two bell ends would jump ship? They've both got great relationships with the beeb and host other shows on it.

I'm abroad and there would be no point in watching Top gear, if Clarkson wasn't there, we all have our own motor shows, but we do not have Clarkson, May and Hammond.

I was talking about Clarkson not Top Gear. He is a drop in the ocean. Top Gear presumably makes most of it's money through syndication abroad and by selling the format to other countries. Why would that money be lost? You really think mr. or mrs. general director of a TV channel in Lithuania or wherever gives a shit whether or not he still works there and will cancel the show?

Problem is Clarkson, May and Hammond are Top Gear. It's not really a car show anymore, more of a entertainment program based around cars. I would suggest most people watch it for the entertainment provided by the hosts during the challenge segments, less people watch it for the cars, and even less people watch it for car reviews.

Sure they can sack Clarkson, replace him, get another guy in, but i think the show will go seriously down hill with ratings and syndication's being lost.

There is one problem with your argument. You dont actually know for certain what the actual facts are for this situation at this point. However you like many others on both sides of the debate have come up with a clear opinion on what should happen.

Actually, I don't care about what the facts are in this incident. The facts from all the other previous incidents, in which either he or the BBC have been forced to apologise, are more than enough reason for him to be sacked. I am disappointed that it takes an alleged assault for him to be suspended, as opposed to all the previous blatant racism. If you notice in my post, I didn't reference the latest incident once.

The thing that most annoys me about Clarkson is that he's actually a very capable presenter/journalist when he puts his mind to it. If you've ever seen him talk about something he has a passion for its genuinely good to watch and he can produce some very articulate pieces.

Hence his laziness with some of the shit he puts out is very frustrating. It's too easy to cobble together some half arsed scripted nonsense and throw in the odd controversial comment knowing it'll get viewers.

The Senna piece he did a few years back was a genuinely incredible piece of TV

He should be sacked, it's racist gaff and bigotry controversy after controversy and then all explained away as 'just a joke'. How many times does someone have to make jokes of a similar ilk before people think "Actually, this bloke might be racist"? My Facebook feed is awash with country bumpkins from Cumbria all ignoring the facts about Clarkson's behaviour and demanding people sign the petition to have him re-instated as it's against his human rights, or 'political correctness gone mad'. It's like arguing with the people who deny climate change, much of whom I imagine signed the petition as well if they are not indeed the same people.

Them dirty Cumbrians don't care about equality, they're half-viking you know.

Sadly no. I work for a TV station. A reporter dragged an editor outside at a staff party and kicked his ass. The editor sued and gave the station an ultimatum. The station did nothing so the editor quit. Guy isn't even a good reporter, he's dull as hell, is not a nice man unless you're a female and has anger management and alcohol problems. Companies can be so scummy.

In the UK an ordinary person would have been sacked many times over for the things that Clarkson has done. A physical attack on a colleague is about as bad as it gets

Never knew he was a Chavs fan, I thought he hated football.

He did hate football but his son pestered him to take him to watch Chelsea and he became a convert.

What did he say? No sound at work.

That Clarksons a knob but he likes him, that he didn't see the incident because he was blind drunk and then finished by saying he has no further comment to make.

He's entertaining enough and I enjoy watching Top Gear but for the life of me I don't see why he has such a cult following. It isn't like they spend the whole show displaying their personalities either, just the same scripted stuff most of the time. He has no real stand out quality to really justify such a fuss, only that we have got used to seeing Top Gear with him in it.

His Tory mates will all rally around him now. He will be alright. If however he does get turfed out I imagine May and Hammond would go with him to another channel and make a new show.
with them owning the production rights... could be very lucrative for them
Expect to see them on Sky next year (probably with the mclaren p1 vs la ferrari vs the porshe as a starter along with a return to argentina)

He's a bit not-nice but dim and not particularly articulate, just another minor public school boor.

Not far off, but fair play to his parents:

Clarkson was born in Doncaster to travelling salesman Edward Grenville Clarkson and teacher Shirley Gabrielle Ward.[3] His parents, who ran a business selling tea cosies, put their son's name down in advance for private school with no idea how they were going to pay the fees, until at the last moment, when he was 13, they made two Paddington Bear stuffed toys for each of their children.[4] These proved so popular that they started selling them through the business with sufficient success to be able to pay the fees for Clarkson to attend Hill House School, Doncaster and later Repton School.[5][6] By his own account, he was expelled from Repton School for "drinking, smoking and generally making a nuisance of himself."[7] Clarkson attended Repton School alongside Formula One engineer Adrian Newey.

There are less and less personalities on TV every year. Soon there will be no one left other than generic robots who only say nice things about everyone, like those insufferable twats on the One Show.

So it's all because Clarskon didn't get his dinner?

just watched that outraged family.
If there was one person from the TV who would shout out a string of four letter words if in a bad mood would be Clarkson, they asked for a selfie, he did not swear at them , he said no because of the day he had , dont see a problem to be honest.
Top headline news and fake outrage just because a self confessed pratt has a meltdown when in a bad mood, not really that newsworthy is it .

 I thought that too, they he said he was there forlorn and pondering his future, I doubt that very much, its not like he is going to struggle is it.
How many think he will be sacked , I may just quit before the outcome is publicly known.

Why would you quit your own job over what Clarkson has done?

I would not , but there has been rumours he would quit the BBC anyway , maybe he would use this has an excuse to do it.

Swoooooosh.

;)

So, the story of him assaulting someone appears to be now just him telling someone he'd have him fired?

The 'assault' was supposedly on a producer.

I doubt the producer was the one he was yelling at for having not prepared hot food.

He was yelling at a producer, threatening to have him sacked. Not sure if it's the same one he tried to hit....
Not that it matters, he has made himself look like a massive tit to most sane people whether it be one producer or ten....hopefully the staff at the place didn't have to put up with him.

Evidently whatever he did was bad enough in his view that he felt the need to report his conduct to the BBC himself.
