Top 4 van Gaal stays or no top 4 van Gaal leaves?

I've wasted enough time already watching this guy suck the entertainment out of us. OUT.

I'll save myself some money if he's here next season though.

I will take top 4 tbh. I hate being out of the CL. Although we don't even have a snowball's chance in hell to win the trophy but not even being in it will hurt more. Maybe we can get a few top players and they could help us win the PL title in spite of the plonker that is in charge.

GONE, what good is top 4 and getting to watch few European games next year, if when you sit down to watch them they make your eyes bleed?
I can't believe how many people are saying they'd have top 4, Jesus, nothing is worth another season of his philosophy, watching us under him is destroying my love for football.

I care about the long term so no top 4 and Jose in, scraping into the top 4 and letting the clown have another season, missing out on Jose and ending up with the puppet manager after him would do more harm than missing CL football next season.
Completely agree. Have to think long-term.

Although Guardiola being forced to slum it in the Europa League would be some silver lining.

Jose is 'long term' now, is he?

JM's short termism is in fact the exact reason the United board have overlooked him for the job.

We'll get 3 good years out of him.
Pretty much what you'd get from the other 2 A-Listers (Ancelotti and Guardiola).

Re: LVG:
LVG is targeting 4th place every season, so he is not improving us. And I don't think any fan wants to see us play long term, the way we are playing right now.
Aiming to score 1 goal per game, is not only boring for the fans, but must be soul destroying for our players.

if that's the reason for us not hiring mourinho then it was stupid to hire LVG in the first place

His position has become untenable now. Has to go no matter what.

It's really annoying seeing this thread on the front page (I realise I've just bumped it). As if we don't have enough real frustration we have this frustrating question :(

If top four guarantees him his job for final year I honestly don't want it.

I cannot stand this man at our club, that's how strongly I feel about it.

Top 4 and he goes. Simple.

That's not happening in my opinion. If he gets top 4 he stays, he's too arrogant to realise he should leave on that high (which in itself is sad if we consider scraping into top 4 a high)

Regardless of if we manage to make it to the top 4 LVG has to go.
LVG has made viewing MUFC games just tiresome of me.

whatever ending that we see him leave. If missing out on CL then be it. Just want him gone, can't handle the thought of him being around next season.

I don't think 4th should be some sort of achievement to be lauded but accepted that last season's finish was progress because of the mess we were in when Van Gaal took over.

Accepting another 4th place finish this season as a success is a big mistake in my opinion, especially with Mourinho there to be hired.

I agree. He is not bringing us forward at all. He had 2 years now and we are competing for 4th plays with the lowest points and scorelines. Its just not good enough - there are some reall great managers around which we should look at

Since in reality it's not an either or situation, the answer is LVG has to go. Period.

Needed to go after Stoke on Boxing Day, even though since then we've had a few decent results and players emerging. He'll take the credit for Rashford, CBJ, Fosu-Mensah and the rest but his hand was forced, and they have been the only shining light since the new year. The football has still been pretty terrible and the results not much better. This club needs more.

Six extra CL games are not worth having the soul destroying LvG at the club one minute longer than this seasons duration.

another season of the torture we have endurd?

please no.

Exactly, 6 drudgery CL group games before elimination is not worth it, LvG needs to be gone no matter what but I don't trust our board at all and worry they'll keep him if we scrape top 4 despite that utter shit on a stick football.

Van Gaal has to go no matter what. If that means that we don't get top 4 and don't win the FA cup, then so be it. I think (hope) that Woodward will get rid of him regardless of how this season pans out and bring in Mourinho. After all, his contract is up in 2017, while Mourinho is available now. Telling him to retire 1 season early in order to get a manager of Mourinho's level is more then worth it even if you are Van Gaal's biggest fan.

They seem so bloody cowardly or indecisive. What's the betting they'll get the season over (so any potentially booing fans are safely out of the way), and say nothing in the summer while we wait for the anticipated news that LVG has been fired? It'll take next to nothing - even 5th place, or one or two consecutive wins at season's end - for them to 'justify' keeping Louis.

that would be exactly their standard operating procedure.

err you have not heard anything have you :nervous:

Palace were terrible but this is the kind of home game we should have had over and over this year under Van Gaal, pegging weaker teams back with our width and conservative possession.

Good thing is, I don't think we'll make top 4. With 3 wins on the trot, we're due to stumble badly again in the next game or two.

And yes, LvG should go regardless.

We're going backwards and the signings he's made aren't contributing their worth (other than Martial who came from Giggs' recommendation and Shaw who was scouted under Moyes).

LvG has to go.

No, I haven't, chief. I just expect the worse, because the club only seems bold and decisive when their targets are deemed expendable (the unpopular Moyes unceremoniously sacked; Rio being told in the dressing-room that he was finished at United etc etc).

I know you are no fan of Mourinho. But we do need the ship to be steadied for a couple of years.

You know that Spurs chapie may not be a bad idea after Jose...should he come here.

would like to hear the story about Rashford being played so quick. I mean someone must have said. yeah the boy is ready. what a gem we have on our hands. Please dont screw this up. sign the lad up to a top contract.

Despite my reservations about José, Giggs etc, I'd even take one of those two over LVG, mate - I pretty much have to force myself to watch United games these days. The cumulative effect of Moyes and van Gaal has put me off the sport in general.
