Too early to be getting worried?

When you spend 150 million and get two starting players, I'd say that's borderline terrible.

Shaw will be dynamite given time, I remember Neville saying he will be fantastic but he needs 12-18 months first.

Di Maria where alot of the money went simply had a bad season for all sorts of reasons, he is still a top notch player though and will hopefully prove it this season, if he doesn't we should set most of our money back.

Herrera is fantastic and could be sold for a profit now if we wanted.

Blind has his limitations but is a handy player and certainly worth his fee.

Rojo I'm not so sure about yet tbh.

Falcao was a disaster but at least we didn't buy him.

All in all it wasn't that bad a window, the main issue is we need so dam much to get the squad up to scratch so the impact of them was barely felt.

We only signed depay and we haven't even unveiled him yet!!! Lvg is on holiday getting a tan!!! Everyone is slacking off!! We haven't resigned Ronaldo yet!! Liverpool signed milner and Ings and we are just wasting time!!! It's already June 9th!!! Barcelona are buying every player!!! Madrid is signing the rest!!! What are we doing!!!!

Jeez,

We've signed one of the brightest talents in Europe already and the windows not open, I'm anxious for us to make some more signings because I love going into full muppet mode but the windows not even open yet.

When you spend 150 million and get two starting players, I'd say that's borderline terrible.

All five of the remaining players could well establish themselves as starters. Blind is the lesser amongst them, but even he will be a good squad player. Anybody who'd say it was a terrible window I can't help but imagine them not really having a clue what they are talking about.

I don't understand why anyone would sell a player this early. Why did they sell Depay?

Well actually I can understand it sometimes. If you have a £20m player and someone comes in with 30m to tie the deal up early then sure, sell early. Or ifa player has a buy out clause then if that gets triggered who could go early.

But in general, I don't really get it.

PSV and Memphis had a gentlemans agreement to sell him this year, after they already declined a 20m Euro offer from Tottenham last season. When PSV became champions Memphis had freedom to pick a club so he kinda forced van Gaal to sign him so he didn't end up at PSG. That's the reason that deal was done so quickly, van Gaal had to. I have no doubt the rest of the transfers will follow shortly, all except 1 or 2 will be on tour.

Lots of players are still away on international duty. I'm sure it will all start to kick off next week.

I think it's far too early to be worrying. However I can't wait for transfer season to really kick in, I enjoy the bullshit of it all.

Yeah, sorry, forgot about Herrera. Three.

Look, terrible might be overstating it, but when you consider the excitement it generated and the money that was spent, it did end up hugely disappointingly.

Blind will never be more than a squad player, and those shouldn't cost 13 million. Rojo will likely be fourth-choice CB and third-choice LB come August. Shaw has been okay but underwhelming and injuries are a concern in terms of realizing his potential. Falcao was a huge waste of money. Di Maria is on the bench and with Depay and maybe even another winger coming in, he could be on his way out or at least further down the pecking order. Herrera is great.

Gundogan apparently going to Barca
Alves now staying at Barca
Pogba apparently a target for Barca and Real
Nothing new on Otemendi
Nothing new on Schneiderlin
De Gea uncertainty still ongoing/won't be long till all viable replacements are signed up by others

At least we've signed Depay I guess

(Note this post isn't 100% serious, just 70 or 80%)
Gundogan still available
Alves dodged another Falcao here.
Pogba still available
Otemendi still available
Schneiderlin still available
De Gea uncertainty still ongoing/could for all we know be close to signing a new contract.

Thought the title said married for a moment. I'll have to rethink now.

The beginning of this June feels like the beginning of last August...

The window isn't even fecking open and plenty of reports say we have like 3 deals all be ready to go. And we already signed depay. Ffs.

Nah Rojo. CB and LB cover for me. Behind Shaw and Blind for LB. If we get a quality CB this window i'd happily see Roko on the bench every week.

LVG said he wants any business done early, before we go on tour. That departs mid July so we've got just over a month yet.

LvG might not even be interested in any of the players listed in the OP, would not surprise me at all. Woody needs to give another interview saying "watch this space" like last year.

I remember being a bit worried last year when we only had herrera and shaw signed up. then all of a sudden BANG Rojo, BANG Di Maria, BANG Blind, BANG Falcao. Was great. As LVG says, it only takes a day to sign a player.

The only problem was that they arrived close to Sept 1st. By this time, they'd missed out on a pre-season (and the first 3-4 games) and I think we scored 1 point from the first 3 games (or something very weak).
We cant afford to be cutting it close again. We need to get business done early, a strong pre-season, so that this time when the season starts we dont let Chelsea get a huge head start, which then results in us playing catch-up for the whole season.
What Mourinho did last Summer was get business done early and then he worked with his players during the break, so that by the time they started the season, they were well drilled and firing on all cylinders.

Theres a lot more talk in the past week of us signing otemendi amd schneiderlin than there has of DDG leaving, so you're clearly a pessimist

And every summer we're sat here towards the end of the window complaining about our lack of action in the market, after people saying week after week that we'll jump into action any day now.

Not that I'm bothered or concerned, but that's generally what happens.
You might actually want to look at when our signings are made. We are not waiting till the end EVERY summer. Even last summer we had some work done early and some done late.

Far too early to start panicking. The newspapers would have you believe that we have missed out on several targets already, but they always do that whether we are interested in the players or not.
Last summer's window demonstrated that the club were prepared to invest heavily in the squad. With the new kit deal now starting, there is no reason why we shouldn't be very active in the window once again. Ed isn't briefing as to who we are after, so all we can do do is sit tight and enjoy the ride.

Last year we had some issues due to LVG not coming until after the world cup, that slowed us down. Plus some players only really seemed to come on the market late.

The summer of Moyes we were slow.

But it also takes three parties to make a transfer happen plus complications when other clubs are in for a player.

Too early to whine

You have a typo: should have been 7 or 8% respectively I feel, otherwise I have no words for this...

I no, most of those signings didnt exactly set the world alight but at the time it was brilliant. And also illustrates the point that even if we had only 2 weeks of the window left, nobody should worry. Not until LVG comes out with Fergies favorite line ''Im happy with the squad i have''

I never worried then and i wouldn't if a top manager like LVG said that now. If he thinks he has the right players then so be it. Better than spending 100m on rubbish like Spurs and Liverpool.

It's very simple.

This is an important summer for us, one we need to get right. LVG has said he wants business done before pre-season. Thus our business should be largely done within the next month if we're doing things properly.

If that doesn't happen then we know things aren't going to plan and it's fair to start getting agitated. Until then we might as well assume everything is under control and whirring away quietly in the background.

Well every team wants business done early. But the real world gets in the way. All the things that can delay a transfer getting done easily can and will happen at times. Getting three parties to agree to a transfer, dealing with having to outbid other clubs, waiting for other deals to get done before the trigger gets pulled on ours, etc etc etc.

You can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need!

Obviously De Gea leaving - for likely under half of his value were he signed to a longer deal - is a blow.

Signing Memphis looks like a great move. Looking at players under 30, after Neymar and Hazard, he's probably 3rd in the world among left wingers you would pick and he has age on his side being 2 years younger than Neymar and 4 younger than Hazard.

I was hoping Dani Alves was coming here; I think he'd likely give us 2 seasons of excellent play at RB and who knows who we'll end up playing there?

Nothing else of consequence has happened. Basically, we've taken a step forward in signing Memphis and a step back in losing De Gea. Crucially, we've also failed to do something stupid like losing Pereira on a free, signing Milner or whatever fresh hell would constitute a Falcao sequel.

Try to give one or two more weeks to the players so they can come back from vacation. It's the only time where they're free from enduring this whole media circus directly.

Play it like De Gea, cool and simple... and enjoy the summer.

You mean like DDG shitting all over your fans by jumping at the first opportunity to leave?

Yup. Will wait till next month before going mental, though I'm at the 30% mark now.
IMO, Not signing a right back - can live with it somehow.
Not signing a CB - more concerning, and unless we miraculously stay injury-free, or our defenders hit great form, we'll be shitting our pants with Evans and co and no DDG to bail them out.
Not signing a CM or two - would most likely be crippling. Unless Pereira or Pearson step up and immediately turn in top notch performances, which is bloody unlikely.

Not going to deny that I am a bit antsy. Our best and only world class player is most likely leaving and there is very little noise regarding our signings in the press. Well except the Metro, who have linked every mother f-er to our team.

This is a very very important summer for us. Another feck up and we could see the repercussions for years.

It's probably fair to think that the longer it goes on, the less likely it is that we're getting our No.1 targets and we're having to convince players to join us rather than them actively wanting the move.

Yes. Way too early. Nobody here knows full details of who LVG wants so could be worrying for nothing. Season finished on Saturday, doesn't start for two months and tour doesn't even start for another. Even then, LVG may have best of intentions and still not get who he wants when he wants. That's real football life.
