Really surprised regarding the bolded parts.

I know he's had his problems off the pitch, and he played for Arsenal, but I thought he always came across as an ok bloke.
He couldn't do worse than Gary Neville, could he? That suit must go though.

Oh dear, this will not end well. I remember a few years ago when he made the claim that he was to become Celtic manager only for the club to come out and say he wasn't, embarrassing.

Poor Spanish bastards must hate us. First Brexit and now this, im not sure which is worse

Gaizka Mendieta and Gerry Armstrong on Sky....
'What does Tony Adams know about La Liga?'
'He should have started in Segunda Division'
'Why have Granada appointed a foreign manager?'
'It is a slap in the face for young Spanish managers'

If he lasts any longer than the end of the season I will be surprised, doubt his stay will be extended any further. Nothing against him, he seems quite a likeable guy and does a lot of good work with his clinics etc.

It wouldn't surprise me if they appointed him to get more attention and revenue as a result. They're doomed and Adams definitely doesn't have the resume to suggest he can fix that.

"Managed" my other boys Wycombe in an absolutely disastrous spell.

Turned up in something like October, with us struggling in league 1. Basically chose to write off the season as finished, and pissed about bringing in Premier league teenagers like Steven Taylor and a young Villa striker on loan. Lovely to see them, but completely zero impact on helping us long term.
I vividly remember him declaring that he had "done his budget" mid season, going ape sh!t when a player "ate an apple" pre game, constantly talked their level down, and then pissed off when it all got a bit tricky, telling the press before our own club.

I also remember him treating our youngster Roger Johnson awfully, picking him at left back at times, and saying he "might be a striker", and completely demoralising him. "not good enough as a centre back". Few years later he was in the Premier league!

Absolute grade A plonker.

Bizarre appointment even with his links to the owners. This should be interesting...

On a side note: Wtf was with those clothes?

Strange late season change, TBH. He was already the sporting director, but now he's also sticking his neck out as the manager, so gotta figure it can really end badly for him (i.e. being out of 2 jobs). Maybe the owner wanted a change for change's sake and couldn't find another candidate to save them from relegation, so Adams stepped up and might have the director job after the season, no matter what. But if he helped put the team together (as director) and then can't get them to gel, he's got egg on his face. As it is, Granada's position is very precarious.

I misread this news as Adams becoming coach of the Grenada national team which seemed random but for him to be put in charge of a team in La Liga is just insane.

Terrible manager and a very strange man.

It's a bizarre appointment obviously.

He doesn't have much to lose with Grenada 8 points off safety. In some ways, I admire his unusual career path in management. Given his status as a player in this country, he could have taken the typical route of hovering around English football like a bad smell complaining that they won't give him a job before periodically flopping at desperate Championship clubs. He could easily be a Talk Sport or BT regular. But no, he's spent time in China, Azerbaijan and even spells at Utrecht and Feyenoord's academies.

Maybe the years since his Portsmouth spell have been good for his development. Also, he's got more years of sobriety under his belt. Although that suit he's wearing in the presentation picture hardly screams sober :)

Hope he does well.
