That's what I thought. Do you think that a Kroos deal might happen this window and would he suit United? Is he a bit slow btw?
He isn't slow per say, but he isn't fast.
I don't think a Kroos deal will happen at all.

Note... I don't watch a lot of Bundesliga football.

Don't see how any deal for Kroos could be done before the end of the window.

I know deals can be done quickly but just don't see a major deal happening this quick with us.

We seem to have bucked up our ideas though... the Aeroplane has awoken.

Get him snapped up Woody !!

I thought it meant transfer request or something.

Kevin will apparently be absolutely thrilled if he doesn't come here. It'll be a scintillating non-signing.

I have the feeling he might do a Yaya Toure and decided a move to where he'd the superstar bull in the midfield Kraal might suit him best. In that event Id only like Bayern to lose him to us.

He's not going to be as influential here as Toure is at City though, is he? Bayern aren't that stocked in midfield when you think about it either so he'll play a lot there.

Hm, I think you may be right with how long United have taken historically to finalise transfers. That said, if Moyes really wanted Kroos and was prepared to sign him before the summer AND Bayern relented, then two days is plenty of time.

Of course, Kroos could have a stonking World Cup and then his fee would go up, even if he could start talking to clubs in Jan15.

Personally I'd love to see him at OT for the remainder of this season, because realistically we only have 4th place in the PL to play for.

I think most importantly, we need a box-to-box midfielder who is perhaps stronger defensively than offensively to build our team around. Something like Essien of old. Or Fletcher of old. Put someone like that next to a player who can make more of an offensive contribution, but not quite a 10, so with some degree of defensive/positional discipline - and we are back. Kroos would be perfect for that second role I think.

I don't see how we cannot gain an advantage by acquiring Kroos. Our centre midfield remains poor, even against Cardiff. That 4th place is critical for United (& the Glazers) and if it means blowing some money now instead of the summer, then so be it.

Remember, with the WC in the summer, signings will be an absolute bastard to transact.

What does the thread title mean? Has Guardiola said something?

Apparently Pep said 'here today, gone tomorrow' when asked last night of Kroos's future. I think that Pep was probably just having a Catalan hissy fit after Kroos had a Bavarian hissy fit by throwing his gloves at the coaching staff when substituted.

We need more of a Carrick of old to play with with Kroos, than a Fletcher of old. I serriuosly think Kroos could emulate or get close to Scholes one day.

I agree. Kroos is a top player. I must admit though that, especially after adding Mata, my main concern with our central midfield is the defensive side of it. Carrick is on the wane I believe, and even at his best didn't really put himself about. Adding a floaty Spanish midfielder for instance would be nice, but I think our biggest weakness in that area now is the ease in which teams can play through us. You look at sides like City with Toure and Fernandinho - they give little away. We're too open in there.

Kroos would be a great start, but a more defensive partner with physical strength and dynamism is an absolute must in the summer.

I rate Kroos highly. He rarely gives the ball away, a vital thing for a CM. And he scores too, which is more than can be said for our current CM contingent.

Carrick and Kroos is still too soft for my liking. We need some power in there, or at the very least someone with the ability to close down and tackle aggressively like te old Fletch. I'd take Alex Song alongside Kroos personally.

Excellent. Chopper on the way with Mata and De Gea?

1. He'd be our best midfielder by far and he is young plus retains the potential to be the best midfieler of his kind in the world! He IMO could easily do for United what Yaya has for City. 2. Playing time isn't his issue. Its status and wages. Bayern are actually quite stoked in midfield. Javi Martinez, Schweinsteiger, Lahm (holders), Goetze, Thiago and Mueller all play where he does. As do emerging young talents like Hjogberg and Weiser. And with Sebastian Rode arriving in the summeq and a buy back option on Emre Can, they can actually sale Kroos. Right now he plays regularly because Pep rates him, he consistently does the business and he is in the hierachy's good books due to his enormous potential and being a youth product. However that might change dramatically. It remains to be seem if the board think him worth the superstar pay raise he is asking for. If they dont, they are known to be ruthless. They'll ship him out.

You can say that again...

Moyes just needs to give him a copy of The Proclaimers greatest hits and a can or Irn Bru and he's ours. Don't see why this deal has not been done already.

He plays a certain role that few can though, only Lahm actually and Rafinha did yesterday a great job in reminding everyone that we need Lahm at right back as soon as Martinez and Schweinsteiger are finally fit again to play. The idea that for example Müller can play instead of Kroos is like saying Pedro could replace Xavi at Barca. Makes no sense at all.

Well, it was Müller who replaced Kroos last season after his injury, wasn't it? In a 4-2-3-1/4-4-1-1 Müller can do a great job ahead of the two central midfielders. I realise that's not how Bayern play under Guardiola but the option is there.

It then became much more a 442/424 than the 433/4231 we played with Kroos. Robben and Müller played way higher than Ribery and Ribery's selfless play saw him stay deeper and move inside to take over a lot of what Kroos brought to the team. We also became a much more reactive side than we were before. It's not about the position in a formation, it's about the tactics and style of play. Müller played Kroos' role a few times this season, it was far from great though and a waste of Müller's abilities. We certainly don't sell a player to force us into options that have nothing to do with the manager's ideas for the team. Rode is also the wrong replacement for Kroos. Pretty sure Kroos knows, how important he actually is, which makes it so easy for him to put pressure on the club at the moment.
