Gaming Tom Clancy's - The Division | Division 2 announced

Looks good.
The update itself looks good - and like there being new weapons.

I do wish it wasn't pure chance to get them though.

I would prefer if the weapons vendor, for example, had one of each class of weapon for sale each week. Just so it wasn't TOTALLY random.

I do need to figure out a new gear loadout to aim for - I don't think 5x Sentry makes any sense. Some of the newer ones look interesting though.

Here are all the gear sets and their benefits (Sentry & Striker have both been updated):

Final Measure

• +50% Exotic Damage Resilience (2)

• +15% Protection From Elites (3)

Hunter's Faith

• +20% Marksman Rifle Critical Hit Damage (2)

• +20% Damage to Elites (3)

A couple of comments post-patch (not by me):

Barely notice the reticule change on the M1A - still feel like it's fast to fire

The DPS drop on Aug is hugely noticeable though

How are the heroic missions and what type of rewards are you getting? Did the HVT's reset? New blueprints in the DZ?

Tried Lincoln tunnel , it's easy, just like challenge missions,

Reward was 1 he armor, three 204 weapons

Ouch. My striker gearset and Aug really hammered. Must wait for the game to update to see if I can switch it up

B.L.I.N.D 2nd set got a big drop was going to be 100% Crit damage does 20%
The G36 is already going to be nerf by 2-3k dmg

What to make of it so far?
The missions are boring as usual  but to be fair, when you rank up, you can add extra frustrations to make it harder and to gain better rewards, so could be interesting.

My AUG still has a high crit hit chance so until that changes, I don't think I will change gun, but I've picked up an interesting one
Enhanced PP-19 - Sub machine gun. Has more DMG than the AUG I have and has some nice talents. It also has a 53 clip size as standard, so that jumps up to 103 with the attachment.

Shame about the G36 @paulscholes18, Picked one up and it seems pretty handy

For all you guys on PS4, worry not, the update is not as bad as I thought it'd be, it's actually pretty nice. And this is coming from someone wearing 5 Sentry gear set pieces and using the Vector. (Which I replaced for a 229 score SMG within the first hour of playing the new update )

Watched people play the new update on twitch and it does look good, he was using 5 set sentry with reckless chest, he was using a black market sasg 12 shotgun and a M1A,

What's reckless?

I think it's called reckless. A talent on the body armor which gives +13% extra damage but you take 10% extra more damage, so not really worth it, but as it is bugged again, you give 13% more damage an deflect 10% incoming damage so a win win

Oh yeah, I've had this before on something. Good to know, cheers.

I need to make a decision on what gear set to go with.

Firecrest could be so overpowered if used right, the problem is, finding incendiary bullets isn't always that easy if you are constantly using them.
I've picked up two 268 gear of them already, so I may give it a chance.
Always used striker, but with the nerfs, it's been really hit.
Alphabridge isn't to bad either if you get the right talents

Any tips greatly appreciated, if I actually bother playing it anytime soon :D

Haven't really been in the DZ, so cant really comment so far.
The underground is ok. Until I rank though I can only do short missions, which take about 15-20mins.
They are fun in the sense that they are short shoot em up missions with absolutely zero story line

Could be very difficult once you add a few of them things to make missions harder though.
I've got two weeks off, so thats probably the main reason I am playing it or I don't think I'd be back on it.

If you've paid for the DLC already, give it a go. If you haven't, I wouldn't bother to be honest

Nope, watched a stream and they tried reckless in DZ it's working the wY it should

I actually really like the underground. Some fantastic loot and the randomly generated maps keep it fresh.

How many hours would I have to put into this before I could do some multiplayer stuff and not be crushed by everyone?
Not too many like in other MMO type games. No idea but I'd say around 40-50 hours doing the single player campaign until you're level 30. You can do it all in co-op so it's cool.

For the PS4 lot, the Eagle Squad weekly HVT is probably best way to raise gearscore. Went from 209 to 228 after it, with me getting a 268 holster, gloves and other stuff including 229 M1A.

Cheers for that!

How's the finger holding up?

@paulscholes18 ah the perks of multiple characters. Just grinded my way to 58 intel on another char and did the weekly HVT again and got a 229 G36C.

My main now has 236gs and secondary has 228. Not bad considering I hadn't played properly in ages before today. Stats on gear aren't great but can improve them through time.

Hate the 1 month delay on content.

Slightly annoyed I sold this game as I wanted to try this out but oh well. These bullet sponge rpg's get boring very quickly.

I think if I hadn't bought the season pass when I pre-ordered the game, I don't think I would buy it now.

This game is feeling like hard work - after getting to a weapon / gear set combo that I was happy with, I am now back to square one in trying to get new, better gear items and weapons.

This is partly because they have introduced new, higher score weapons (which is fair enough). But also because they have nerfed the crap out of what I had been using. Sentry gear set now needs 5 pieces to achieve what it used to do with 4 (which means no secondary 2 item gear set). The Aug has had it's damage drastically reduced - which just means it takes longer to kill NPCs, and more ammo. This wouldn't really be an issue, as I had been using 2 x Lone Survivor gear sets for their +100% ammo capacity - but now this is not really viable if I want to keep the Sentry benefits.

I could also move to a different build combo - but the first step is figuring out which combo would be best for your play style. Once done, you then have to wait on RNG to actually get it. And now there are more items, the chances of getting a particular pieces have shrunk drastically.

So the only solution is just to grind through the weekly HVTs / Challenge missions until you accumulate new gear set items. All the ones I had acquired are now essentially useless, as they are mainly 214 level (with a few 240). My M1A and Aug are both 204 score weapons - and both have had nerfs applied to them, so not sure how effective they would be on Heroic mode missions.

Will give it a bit more time, but it seems as though the only way Massive knows to increase the challenge is to simultaneously reduce the fun.

@swooshboy - In the exact same boat. I don't even know why I bought the pass on release, but now that I have it, I just feel like I have to play it.
The game was fun at first. Especially when gold items were so hard to get hold of, but now it's become a tedious cycle.

The game doesn't really have much to offer. You get so addicted to getting the best gear you can, you forget that you log on every day and do the exact same thing

Happens with pretty much every MMO, swoosh. The new dlc isn't bad you'll see. You'll forget about your sentry set pretty much instantly once you do a few runs. Was using it aswell but have much better gear now.

Nice comments all!

I actually love the base mechanics of the game - and having different builds within a crew.

Yeah - will be good to give the Underground a try when it releases for PS4 next month, and good point about the Sentry.

I think I just need to try a new approach - have had the M1A / Aug combo in green, blue, purple and gold weapons!!

Am going to give Skill some love and attention. The only 229 weapon I got yesterday was a pistol...but I did get a 182 Caduceous as well. Granted, 182 weapons are fairly low individually, but I think I will try for 4 x Alpha Bridge and 2 x Lone Star Gear:

AlphaBridge
• Set Bonus (2): +2 Medkit Capacity
• Set Bonus (3): +100% Health Regen
• Set Bonus (4): Talent | AlphaBridge If your Primary and Secondary Weapon is of the same category, they both gain all of the unique active talents.

Lone Star
• +100% Ammo Capacity (2)

or

Tactician’s Authority
• +4000 Skill Power (2)

So the Caduceus has the Coolheaded perk - where every headshot reduces your skill cooldown by 5.5%. Not headshot kill, but each individual headshot. This talent is mainly found on marksman rifles but having it on an AR means more warheads on foreheads.

So if I equip the Caduceus, and a 229 AR (have to find one, obviously), then I will be able to benefit from the Coolheaded talent on my primary weapon also. The downside of having both your primary and secondary weapons be of the same weapon type is that they share the same pool of ammo. Having the Lone Star will help offset this - although will also try to add ammo capacity to gear set items as well. If possible, then would be good to have 2 x Tactician's Authority items to bump the skill power, but need to see how long the ammo lasts. Actually, since you would be able to have pretty much 100% upkeep on your skills, then you could use the Support Station with Ammo to be able to constantly replenish ammo...

At least this will bring some variety to how I play it - and means you can switch up which skills you use - Sticky Bomb, Turrets, Seeker Mines, Pulse, First Aid etc based on the mission.

What talents has your g36 got, I rolled stable and got Deadly, so now it's Deadly, responsive & the bottom talent is on all G36. But mine is a 204

All the gear from the weekly HVT 268gs were loan star

Bet the 230+ DZ is a waste of time 35l golds, no chance for solo players

Tempted to pick this back up, once I have finished Witcher 3.

Having not played since before the second Incursion, it'll likely take me quite a while to catch up, I'm guessing.
