Gaming Tom Clancy's - The Division | Division 2 announced

Just got an email from the retailer that my copy has been shipped
And now I have been informed that this message was a system error and they'll dispatch my copy today . Wont be able to play till next Monday as I'll be out of time whole week starting Wednesday.

That simple, eh?
Pretty much. The AI can be quite smart, however. Some will stay back and try to supress you, whilst others will rush or flank you.

It's essentially an RPG, so take not of the perks that your weapons, mods & gear give you, as well as just the base stats.

I'd also recommend playing with a friend or three. The game really gets better, the more you have in your group. It also helps in The Dark Zone.

Remember folks - do the security wing first. It gives you 10% more XP for every activity thereafter.

Some end game updates.

Gear Sets

  • Gear set equipment can be found by completing the most challenging activities in Manhattan.
  • Collecting and wearing gear sets grant powerful stat bonuses and talents.
  • Gear sets of varying gear scores can be found for many playstyles. Find the set that best suits yours.
  • “Tactician's Authority” – enhances electronics and support capabilities
  • “Striker's Battlegear” – provide bonuses for assault capabilities
  • “Sentry's Call” – enhances marksman capabilities
  • “Path of the Nomad” – provides bonuses for lone wanderers
Item trading

  • Items dropped by enemies can be shared with other players.
  • Trade items by dropping them as loot from your inventory, so players in your group can pick them up.
  • You can only share items for a limited amount of time after you have acquired them.
  • Items can only be shared with players who are currently in your group and who were also in your group when the item was originally dropped.
Daily and Weekly Missions

  • Global and Personal Assignments are automatically obtained when you log in and can be tracked from the map via the menu called “Mission Overview”.
  • Assignments are available for a limited time, after which, they will be replaced by different assignments.
  • Assignments come in four different categories:
  • Combat
  • Dark Zone
  • Crafting
  • Main Missions
  • Most assignments can be completed while playing alone but some will require enlisting other agents assistance to complete.
Supply Drops

  • Dark Zone Supply Drops are a global event where the Strategic Homeland Defense agency air drops multiple supply caches to assist Division agents.
  • Supply drops will occur multiple times over the course the day.
  • The supply drops will contain non-contaminated gear of all types that will be ready to use without the need for extraction.
  • These supply drops will be heavily sought after by other agents and enemy factions that roam the Dark Zone, so be ready for resistance.
Gear Score

  • Compare the Gear Score of the most powerful items in the game to know which one is the best. Increase your average Gear Score to gauge your chances against high end content and display your prowess in the Dark Zone.
  • Every non-vanity gear piece that can be found when your agent is level 30 has a Gear Score value. The higher an item’s Gear Score, the stronger the item.
  • The overall Gear Score of your agent can be seen in your main menu next to your player level. Gear Score indicates the advancement of an agent.
  • Other agents’ Gear Scores are displayed next to their health bars.
  • Improving your gear and increasing your overall Gear Score will grant your agent access to the most dangerous high end challenges. Your Average Gear Score can be found in the main menu and is visible to other players. It is the average value of all equipped gear pieces.
Challenge Mode

  • Play main missions in Challenge Mode with new encounter compositions and stronger enemies to receive high end rewards.
  • The challenge mode is now available in Lincoln Tunnel Checkpoint, Lexington Event Center, WarrenGate Power Plant and Russian Consulate.
  • You must have completed the mission once and have a Level 30 character before you can play challenge mode.
  • The encounter compositions are reshuffled to offer a new challenge and the amount of enemies is balanced for 4 players.
  • All enemies are now level 32 elites.

Also anyone interested in setting up a Redcafe Twitch stream for this?

Cheers for the tips, I didn't realise how much of a RPG element there was to it - definitely a bonus. I think I'll have to go the Destiny route with this one and look for a group of players on the Caf.

From from what I've been reading, people turning rogue in The Dark Zone can be a bit of a bitch.

The soundtrack to this sounds brilliant from the little I've heard on Spotify.

Good article on the graphics settings for console users:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-01-28-improve-xbox-one-image-quality-in-the-division-beta

The Division has graphics settings we're not used to seeing on console
UPDATE: Ubisoft Massive discuss further console settings that could improve performance.

UPDATE 7/2/16 12:15pm:
A recent Q&A session with Ubisoft Massive reveals that final PlayStation 4 and Xbox One builds of The Division could feature even more graphics settings. A developer revealed it's possible to tweak the game's lighting to improve frame-rates. In theory, this will let users balance the visuals and performance as they please.

"It's actually great that we're given the option you can actually disable certain lighting aspects to improve frame rates in the console versions. I don't know another game that does that. So if you want to choose frame-rate over visuals, you can if you want."

It's an interesting development if true (and not simply part of the team's debug tools), and also a departure from the plug-and-play ethos that usually goes with console gaming. This lighting option is not available in The Division's recent beta - where only toggles for chromatic aberration and sharpness are shown.

Given performance is also a capped at 30fps on console, it's unclear if this will unlock the frame-rate somehow to achieve higher rates. Assuming that frame-rate stays capped, performance profiling of the beta suggests that gains here would be limited: PlayStation 4 is already locked at 30fps, based on the beta code, though freeing up GPU cycles could smooth out the small dips in Xbox One performance, or perhaps lessen the impact of thedynamic resolution scaler.

Original story: The Division beta on Xbox One is a gorgeous beast - bringing some of the most striking volumetric fog effects we've seen on any platform to date. But before you get started, you might want to check some of the options Ubisoft includes in its "Visuals" menu [UPDATE 29/1/16 2:20pm: We can now confirm that the PlayStation 4 beta has exactly the same settings menu]. Image quality can be improved quite visibly by tweaking two settings in particular: chromatic aberration and image sharpen.

The first is a toggle. Chromatic aberration is a post-process effect (much like bloom, HDR or motion blur) that's enabled by default on this Xbox One beta. To date, the effect has appeared in a raft of high-profile titles, from a rather heavy-handed use in Bloodborne and The Order 1886, to the light dab applied in Grand Theft Auto 5. It's designed to mimic the properties of a camera lens, taking the high contrast points visible on-screen, and splitting them into their red, green and blue constituent parts.

The result gives a slightly decayed look The Division is going for - but it might not suit all tastes. The good news? For those who don't fancy it, Ubisoft has you covered, and this toggle cuts the effect out from all gameplay, and also the The Division's unique augmented HUD.

It's an option we hope to see from more developers in future on PS4 and Xbox One. This calls to mind another extensive post-effects menu included in console versions of Project Cars (featuring a whole range of toggles, for god rays and vignetting too).

However, whether enabled or not, this will likely have no affect on your frame-rates - only image quality. If you're not certain, it's worth experimenting with this toggle, and seeing how the results hold up for you. Curiously the 'sharpen image' slider also has a big impact on image quality. It directly controls the strength of The Division's anti-aliasing method on Xbox One - a post-process technique. Sliding this up to 75 creates a noticeably clearer horizon as you sprint down New York's ruined, wintry streets. It alleviates some of the residual blur we get with its AA approach, but there's a catch.

Veering towards 100 per cent on the scale, a white halo effect is apparent on stair-step edges - and the overall balance of this setting ultimately comes down to personal preference. It's unusual to get these options on console, and it's great news they're added this time.

More so than most games, there's a way to get a better look out of The Division on console if you're willing to experiment with each. For more technical info on The Division, Digital Foundry will be looking at Xbox One, PS4 and PC versions (where the beta starts Friday at 12pm GMT) very soon. Stay tuned!

So it seems that setting Chromatic aberration to Off, and the Sharpen Image to around 70% will give the 'best' look (depending on personal preferences).

Some really interesting stuff there. I really like how they've done the whole loot trading thing. Allows you to give loot back to downed squaddies, but not just give your gear to anyone.

Gears sets sound great and will hopefully encourage role-based team-play. The missions will also need to somewhat demand that, of course.

Supply drops are going to be carnage.

I'd actually forgotten about the whole crafting side of things, as it wasn't present in beta.

There will be many people to group up with. Add me on PSN. Brocky36. Mention The Caf'.

The Dark Zone is a hugely interesting dynamic. It's not impossible to go solo in there, but it definitely helps to have friends....and your wits about you. Trust nobody. Except me. ;)

Who'll be online tomorrow during the day? Have the day off as had to do some work over the weekend, so should be able to get online first thing.

I played a bit during the beta, but haven't really done anything in the DZ, so still a noob when it comes to levelling up and the different gear options etc.

Let us know when you get the game - have a feeling I will be left behind the sprinters too!

Actually, I would be up for working through the game with the same (or roughly the same) crew - rather than feeling like I am rushing through as fast as possible.

I'll be on during the day,on nights this week

Well I just got a dispatch e-mail this morning so hopefully it'll be here by Wednesday.

Why don't you weirdos just get digital copies? Less hassle and you'll be ready to play as soon as the servers are up.

It's €70 on PSN. Feck that! Got the physical version for €54 plus €6 worth of player points. http://www.365games.co.uk/player-points

That sounds rather ominous :nervous::lol:

Cheers for that, I'll add you tomorrow once I get going!

No.

Were you asking which version people have got, or which you should get?

I have both. It looks and plays miles better on PC but I have a group I play regularly with on PS4 and so decided to get both.
oh right, fecking hell :lol::lol:

how old are you? how do u have so much time to be able to get the game and play it on console and then pc

So I have been hearing a damn lot about this game, decided to take a look at a couple of twitch streams earlier today and almost instantly decided it looks like something I will enjoy. It is now bought and preloaded, despite me knowing virtually nothing about it (other than about 10 minutes of watching a stream).

Can anyone fill me in on some tips (like @FC Ronaldo said earlier about doing the security wing first)? Also is there going to be some sort of Caf team/squad/whatever for the multiplayer/co-op functions (assuming these exist)?

I've not looked at a lot of what FC Ronaldo has posted. He's getting some hardcore, potential spoiler shizzle and I just want to play the game and level up naturally.

It's essentially an open world RPG that can be played solo but, imo, is much better played co-op. Main missions are repeatable and have different difficulty levels for better rewards. You can play through the missions as a group, but your own 'story' unfolds via your Base Of Operations. You have three wings in the BOO and advancing the story will unlock upgrades for each wing, subsequently granting you access to better skills and such. You will only really see other players in the main area if they're in your group.

Then there's The Dark Zone. It's a separate area with PvE but also other players. Loot has to be extracted out of DZ by chopper, before you can use it. Players can choose to attack other players and take their un-extracted stuff, however, doing so turns them rogue and they can then be freely killed by anyone for a bounty and XP boost. There are five levels of rogue and dying as rogue makes you lose DZ XP & DZ credits. The higher level rogue you are, plus the more you have in your wallet, the more you lose and the more your killer gains. The DZ makes for a really interesting game dynamic.

There's also crafting, but that wasn't in beta. Being an RPG, modding your gear with different perks plays a big part and, hopefully, means that individual roles within a squad do as well.

Did you get it on PC? I'll be on from kick-off. 05:00UK

Christ there's some recoil on the M249 B

@Brocky yeah got it oin PC. It reminds me a bit of Hellgate London - which isnt necessarily a bad thing. Definitely looks like I am going to spend some serious time on this game, which is funny since I knew virtually nothing about it until a few hours ago.

I doubt I will be on at 5AM (presumably that is the launch time) - will head on tomorrow morning most likely, unless I can really be convinced to pull an all-nighter.

Well, Steam is now showing launch in around four hours....but it still says 06:00 CET on UPlay, which I am pretty sure it has to run through when you run the exe.

So I dunno.

Ubi seem to have adopted the philosophy approach to game launches on this one. Loads of info but nobody knows what the feck is going on.

Been playing The Culling over the weekend to tide me over, its awesome, I kinda wish this would be delayed now.

I had it confirmed by Ubi Support that the Uplay version unlocks at midnight CET - the same time as the Steam version.

That was shortly before the Tweets confirming midnight CET were pulled, however.

Just sent them another message but they haven't replied as promptly as they did with the first one...

Feck amazon and royal mail. Still not left the royal mail National distribution center.... Got bad vibes about tomorrow. First time I've ordered a game from amazon and may let me down.
