Initially, PvE with a bit of DZ. Mid game will be more DZ, as that's apparently where the best loot will be found. Late game, it's going to depend on what kind of events are added and whether they give you the best loot, I reckon.
Destiny, for example. You have the weekly reset where you can re-run raids, PoE and Nightfall for a chance at the best loot. Then you get Iron Banner every month, or so. That's really what kept it interesting.

@Brocky has pretty much nailed my view on it as well tbf. If there aren't many superior drops in PVE then that will force people's hands to interact more with the DZ.
I will be logging on, doing the first 3 missions to unlock the wings and then going straight to the DZ.
I'll likely run a fair bit of the story missions first but hop into DZ every now and then. It'd be cool to get a team mate or two running the missions and leveling up at the same time, actually.

When I just started playing I was a bit disappointed but once you get used to the controls and UI it was surprisingly good. Really worth getting if you like squad based shooters. The graphics are pretty sick.
