Really mature performance.
Unfortunately he came to United when he was already 18 so fails to meet the criteria for a youth player.#251
Congrats, Toby!
Yes, I thought that when I saw him being billed as academy graduate #251.Unfortunately he came to United when he was already 18 so fails to meet the criteria for a youth player.
How many Kylians were top level, before Mbappe? Heck, how many Lionels, before Messi? His name. Nobody called 'Toby' is making it as a top level athlete in the 20s, unless we're talking the 1920s.
Never heard so much dross in my life (not from you but from the club)…you can’t keep changing criteria to suit agendas. It’s so inconsistent when comparing to previous eras…If you’re 21 you are hardly a youth…that just doesn’t make sense.Yes, I thought that when I saw him being billed as academy graduate #251.
Though there was an article on the official site explaining it, where it said...
While being signed from Brighton in 2022, Collyer qualifies as an Academy graduate because United conducted a review in the summer which determined that the methodology to decide which players are deemed graduates was to change.
In 2023, the Premier League announced that Premier League 2 teams were to switch from Under-23s to Under-21s.
Therefore, Our Academy's graduate-determining criteria has been backdated to 2012, when the Premier League's Elite Player Performance Plan - the last major change to the regulation of the Academy system - was introduced.
The historic academy graduate methodology for all players signed before 1 July 2012, is as follows:
- Signed for Manchester United before turning 18
- Never played senior professional football for any other club
- Played fixtures for an academy team
For any player signed after 1 July 2012 (Introduction of EPPP and creation of PL2):
- Signed for Manchester United before turning 21
- Never played senior professional football for any other club
- Played fixtures for an academy team
Yeah, I agree with you. Signing a player in their 20's shouldn't count as an Academy product.Never heard so much dross in my life (not from you but from the club)…you can’t keep changing criteria to suit agendas. he will be a good back up to whoever we buy as a DMYeah promising performance. I thought that his performances improved as the pre-season went on, which is a great sign given that the quality of opposition also progressively improved.
He definitely has some really good attributes to work with from a defensive stand point and seems to have a good engine. I think his ability on the ball is going to be the biggest question and will determine how much of a factor he can be for us. Seems to mostly go for the safe option when passing and even then he had a couple of sloppy passes when he came on. But hopefully we'll see some development in that area and he could definitely be at least a decent squad player in the future, if not as early as this season.
Oh yeah. Just thought of him playing for the U18s and went with that.
"I can’t put it into words how grateful I am (for being able to share the field with seasoned pros such as Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes).
"Without them, I wouldn’t be able to reach the level I’ve got to at the minute. I think as much as I’ve done hard work, they’ve worked hard with me as well to help me and give me tips, like I’ve said previously. It’s massive for me.
"[When you play with them] you learn so much, just little things: them speaking to you during the game about your positioning or certain things to look for when you get the ball, certain areas to pick up.”
"But everyone in the group is really massive for my development and they’ve all helped me improve so much already.
"[I want to] just to get as many minutes as possible this year.
"Honestly, just get as many minutes, just keep improving and just take each day as it comes. Don’t look too far ahead, just stay in the present."

I read a gossip rumour 2 or 3 days ago that Ruud is interested in having him on loan at Leicester

Feels like a strong fit. Skipp and Winks is a hilariously bad combination, so so lightweight. Ndidi looks a shadow of himself too.Hmm, would he play? They have N'Didi, Winks and Skipp and I don't see Ruud using N'Didi as a #10 like Cooper did sometimes. If any of those 3 get hurt before January, though, seems like it might be a good loan. They also have 2 loanees already in Buonanotte and Edouard, which is the maximum?

He lacks a physical young CM that gets stuck in with pressing and winning the ball. I think Collyer can be a good fit for Leicester.
I dont think they would (potentially) prioritise Collyer as a singing of they werent fighting for relegation. He would be a straight forward low risk move with a high payoff. And if he did well in the PL wed be able to get good move for him.If it's a permanent deal, sure. Long-term, Skipp and Winks fighting for one spot as the passing CM while N'Didi and Collyer compete for the ball-winner spot next to them with a plan to sell N'Didi in a year or 2 and Collyer takes over when he's 22 or so makes tons of sense, but for a relegation fight, I don't know that he'd get enough minutes to help him. Probably makes more sense for him to start 20 games in the Champo to some team suffering from injuries in their midfield, if that team exists.
Back in the squad, it seems. At least he arrived to OT with the rest of the team, so he’ll probably replace Mount.
Isn't he more an Ugarte type player?
