Levy clearly likes to think of himself as a real hardman chief negotiator. Which is totally unrelated to his physical appearance I'm sure. And has brought Spurs tons of trophies during his reign.
While I do honestly think this will happen, at some stage this will bite Levy in the ass. Most clubs are more reasonable than he is in terms of letting players go where they want. It's just a job in the end, we're all allowed to not love it. Unless Spurs actually become a trophy-winning 'big' club - which despite some incredible years they still haven't - players on the cusp will stop choosing them as a destination.

That assumes Martial wants to join Spurs in the first place, which wouldn't make a whole lot of sense if he's after consistent playing time. I'm guessing he'd have jumped at the chance to go to Juve had they come in for him instead of Ronaldo.
Probably unpopular given the lack of other signings, but I'd be sorely tempted to wait til January if we can agree something informally with him. Assuming the Glazers are keeping the piggy bank closed, we still desperately need a bit of pace and invention on the right side, and while a genuinely good CB would make a big difference, it's mind-blowing that we're still going to start the season with Mata as our right 'winger'.

There was always a chance he'd be involved in the best defence at Ajax, do some research if you don't believe me, similarly at Atletico with the aforementioned Godin and Miranda taking most of the credit.....
He wasn't great at Atletico, I even thought he was a really bad defender there but that was what 5 years ago?
Now now, slightly different, he came to United when he was 16 and got homesick, and we didn't exactly want him to leave....

But he would get game time with us as Poch gives youth a chance and Son is off after first game to the Asia Cup with S Korea and they need to win that or he may have to do his 2 year military service.

He's not Phil Jones injury prone, but i've already mentioned he's only played 30 league games in a season 4/10, which suggest he misses a lot of football either injured or dropped.
Agreed. I think the RW position is a more obvious weakness in our team currently.
Alderweireld would instantly be our best CB, but I think a Bailly-Lindelof partnership has the potential to be very good for us and it would be nice to see the two of them get a run of games together. I saw a stat on Twitter that they've only played something like 15 minutes together in the league, which is incredible considering we spent £30mil on each of them in the past two years.
It's clear that a really good CB - like Alderweireld - would allow us to soak up more pressure, play out from the back and free up Matic and Pogba to collect the ball higher up the pitch. However, I think all of those positives are negligible if we don't have a genuine attacking threat at RW. Perisic or Willian would be a better investment of £60mil than Alderweireld at the moment, in my opinion.
Well considering it's an area of the team that least needs upgrading(Keeper excepted)of the three touted and the money involved i'd go for Mina, and even then i'd probably loan him out for the season as was Barcelona's original idea - the kid is a rough diamond.

Giminez is a very good defender. He can cry all he wants for all I care so long as he performs!
If he really want to stay then he would sign a new contract. All i am saying is that if Inter accepts a bid then he would probably move. The problem is that Inter will want ridiculous money for him, something more than what Real got for Ronaldo and alongside what Lazio is asking for the MS guy

I think he’s an excellent defender and he’ll instantly be our best cb. At this point feck the money, we need to get the players in.

Don't think he's that good a defender but is better on the ball than what we've got. Would compliment Smalling I guess but we'd have a weakness in the air if partnered with Bailly or Lindelof.

Pretty much. Would cement Smalling as our number 1 most important CB as all of the other CBs would benefit a great deal from his heading.
How do you figure that? Mourinho himself wants to strengthen exactly that position and when it comes to CB's his transfer record is almost perfect.
We have Bailly who struggles with injuries, Lindelof who isn't ready to be first team CB, Rojo who is a bit shit, Jones who is always injured, and Smalling who is also not on the level of the best CB's in the league.
As for Mina being a rough diamond you can't be serious based on grand total of three games that you've seen of him at the WC against a dull English side and inferior opposition.

Look I don't think we've got a realistic chance. Similarly to every Serie A club they think that all top EPL clubs are filthy rich and equally doubt so they would want to take us to the cleaners. It doesn't help the fact that we tried to pull a fast one on them regarding Perisic. For example at the beginning of summer Perisic was one of the players Inter were ready to sacrifice to strengthen the side. Things changed quickly the moment United's name showed up again and suddenly Perisic became 'Inter's answer to Ronaldo'. So that's the sort of hostile atmosphere we'll be facing if we tried to get our hands on Skinny.
Returning on the Skiniar both player and club had came out saying that Inter want him to stay and he doesn't want to leave. Having said that, if a big offer comes in and Inter accepts it then Milan would probably feel betrayed and pushed out from a club whom he had previously pledged allegiance to. That means that he will have to rethink his relationship with such club who had basically lied to him. We had something similar with DDG and Real. Real wanted him, David wanted to join them, United were willing to make his dream come true if the price was right but Real kept dragging it to the very last minute. That was enough to persuade DDG to rethink his move and to commit to a club who actually wanted his very best.

At United we'd analyse this stuff a lot more. Our CBs get trashed for less. He was a pretty average CB when he played last season

I’m a massive fan of Maguire, but Toby would be the ideal signing. He reads the game as good as any CB in the league, and he has a unique quality of making the defenders around him perform better (see Vertonghen) which is something I think players such as Bailly and Lindelof, who are yet to fulfill their true potential, will benefit hugely from.
Out of interest, who would you like us to sign before the end of this window ? You don’t seem happy with Maguire or Toby...
Will love it if we sign him. It will give us another dimension when attacking if nothing else. Really good distributor of the ball and makes right passes at the right time which is important, obviously.
He's a great target Some people forget that defenders get better with age and he's got a few good years left ahead of him. If it's 55m then so be it
I personally wasn't a big fan of signing him. Mourinho knows a defender though so hopefully, if signed, he'll have the type of impact that we all hope he'll have.
