If you get chance, read a book called Iron Coffin. It’s about the Uboats. What a story.I need to get around and watch Das Boot.

Damn. The Titanic still claiming the world’s richest as victimsSky saying a UK billionaire Hamish Harding is reportedly in the Sub.
And be alone. It's haunting. You can smell the inside of the submarine.Ah do. In the dark and silence. It's visceral.

Helicopters, small airplanes, submarines, space shuttles... These things are not very safe when you consider the number of accidents compared to how little they are used. Surely the number one risk to wealthy people? Kobe, the former Leicester City owner and now this guy, just from the last few years.
Shouldn’t really butYou could say that the equipment was sub-par
You should see the movie though. One of those threads with wild inconsistency in the level of gravitas deemed appropriate.
Not true, they're very safe based on the numbers
Not sure about submarines, but helicopters and small planes have a significantly higher chance of crashing than commercial planes (if you look at death rate it''s not much separating the two, but that's because big commercial planes have significantly more passengers on board).
Maybe you're thinking about cars? Although I remember reading that Kobe increased his chances of dying by 20 times by choosing a helicopter over a car. And that had nothing to do with the weather that day, just pure statistics.
They’re very safe overall. Not as safe as commercial flights though, which is actually one of the safest places you can be at any time.Helicopters, small airplanes, submarines, space shuttles... I've read das boot, with Iron Coffin are you referring to the McKinna/Mannock book?If you get chance, read a book called Iron Coffin. It’s about the Uboats. What a story.

The stats for helicopters vary a lot depending how they are used. Good weather sight-seeing routes are extremely safe. Using it like Kobe did, in bad weather, in mountains and varying routes is very dangerous when done as often as he did.Kobe dying was such bad news for the helicopter industry because most people can’t process stats.
Also this is a submersible not a submarine. I don’t have any stats but the former is almost certainly a lot less safe.
As evident in your contributions to the Lindelöf performance threadThere’s no depths I won’t sink too

With the Virgin Galactic flight scheduled soon, is that where we'll see the next major accident gone wrong with billionaires on board?
2.5 miles underwater as well!they do know it’s likely to be under the water? fecking stupid yanks.
2.5 miles underwater as well!
maybe they’re just ruling out it being missing due to its cruising at 30,000 ft.
