Seems he's about to join Crystal Palace on a season long loan. Even though I think this is a good move for his development as a footballer I would have rather seen him here at the club if we need to rest Valencia, Matic etc. I think he was excellent in pre-season.

Either we are signing another right back or Axel Tuanzebe to be used as a back up for Valencia. Either way, TFM getting first team football is always a plus and hoping it tears it up at Crystal Palace and Mourinho can take notice of his growth.

Hope his loan's as successful as Pereira's was, naturally eading to him playing a part for us from 2018/19.

Great move for TMF. He will get playing time and experience while he is playing at Palace. He would have just wasted another season getting a couple of games if he stayed at United. Tuanzebe and McTominay need to do the same.

I must say, I find it a little bizarre this move clearly, he doesn't think Valencia can play 2 games a week.

But a really good move for TFM. He will come on leaps and bounds. Only 19 too. Has plenty of time.

Even if we have to rotate, Mourinho seems to much rather favour one of Darmian, Bailly, Lindelöf or Tuanzebe at right back over Fosu Mensah. I think de Boer is a very good coach for him, I hope he finally nails down a proper position as his first preference and nails it down at Palace for a season.

You can afford to have 2 very young unestablished players in the squad, looks like its going to be Pereira and Tuanzebe for this season.

thought he would be our second choice Rb this season and given valencia's age he could get more playing time. plus he looks excellent in pre season.

anyway a loan move to a PL is a good move. hopefully everything will be fine , he gets more playing time and perhaps nail down one fixed position for himself.

He needs the loan as at the minute he's at that stage of needing game time but we can't give it to him. Hopefully he steps up at Palace and comes back ready to at least push for a place on the bench next season.

Agreed and both seem more ready for the 1st team than TFM.

Bench won't do him good. Loan is a good move if he plays regularly.

I don't see him breaking into the Palace team straight away, Ward has been a stalwart for them at right back and they've got a lot of experience in midfield with Milivojevic, Cabaye and McArthur. Hopefully the Dutch connection with De Boer means he becomes a favourite and the loan isn't a waste of time.

It's a weird one. Ward has been out of the team at RWB in pre-season with Townsend playing there and Milivojevic has been playing as a CB, with Puncheon, Loftus-Cheek and Zaha playing in CM in their recent game (Cabaye's injured). Due to Tim's versatility, I can see him getting quite some game time this season at Palace, but not necessarily in 1 position.

I've heard they've been playing 3-4-3 all pre season. Looks like he'll be an option for CB/CM.

Didn't realise De Boer was so obtuse with his line ups, definitely a potential starter for at least three positions then.

Sounds like he is interested in playing with a 3-4-3, where Fosu-Mensah would fit a lot better than any of those players mentioned. Explains why Riedewald was such a big target initially too - he's quite similar in that he can play CB/LB.

Not surprised with a decision, to bad he aint 26, he might stand a chance then and being worth of getting minutes over other senior players who are out of form.

I think he's just experimenting in pre-season. Zaha will likely accompany Benteke up front come the start of the season and potentially that'll open a space either in midfield or defence for Fosu-Mensah, depending on where Milivojevic plays.

I felt like last season was wasted for him so this is good news. Tuanzebe can cover the same positions Fosu-Mensah can and I think it's more important that the latter gets a full season at this point.

Good move. Of all the young players in the squad, I think he most needed the loan this season.

With a Dutch coach there, hopefully this is one that'll benefit all parties.

Does that mean Jose rates Tuanzebe higher? When is the last time he played him on the right? I think Darmian is back up for Valencia to be honest.

Agree sounds good for his chances.

Also how can you know so much about Palace's pre season exploits?

Nope, it just means that TFM needs to go out to get more experience and will possibly come back to become a Valencia replacement. It actually depends on where De Boer plays him. TFM and Tuanzebe are pretty much the same when it comes to the right back position, although TFM's first instinct is to go forward. I would like to see Tuanzebe play at CB and TFM play as CM which doesn't seem to be happening irregardless of which manager takes over at United. Darmian has been used primarily as a LB this pre-season and so I'm assuming that Blind and Darmian will be fighting for that position.

I just keep up with pre-seasons games. Mostly so that I know which players play in which position for my fantasy football team.

Think we kind of need him for cover but if he went there and player most of their games, I'd be happy with that.

hoping De Boer stays true to the Ajax way and gives him plenty of games

Pereira's loan last year was the best we'd had in years and it's pointless sending a player anywhere they won't play

Who'll be the back up right back now that he's going.? Darmian? jones ? Tuanzebe? Or a new purchase?

Darmian is a RB.. so he should be it. Lingard and Young are still around... we can go to a back 3 with wingbacks.

Ashley Young when fit, was back-up right back after Christmas, though Darmian was playing left-back much of the time. We have tons of options for those matches that Valencia doesn't start.

TFM going out on loan for a couple of seasons then returning ready to be first choice right back for us, would be a logical path given Mourinho's reluctance to use youngsters. If he performs brilliantly this season, he might even be in contention for us next season.

He's raw enough that I'm a little surprised we aren't just loaning him to a Champo side to get 40 starts in. Though if Palace are indeed playing 3-4-3 they'll need CBs and I think only Tomkins, Dann and Riedewald would be definitely ahead of him there.

When Van Gaal was the coach, he didn't look out of place for the first team. He was impressive. Good that he is getting PL loan, now up to him to impress his new coach in the training.

I think he's a very impressive athlete and has skill, but at RB, at least, he seems raw, especially on the ball, in a way that Tuanzebe for instance isn't.

If we think he might be able to replace Valencia in a year or two, or at least Darmian as the backup RB, I'd rather see him get 40 games in the Champo or a Ligue 1 side as an RB for a team with nothing there to learn the position rather than maybe end up not playing much at Palace.

Just seems like an unnecessary risk.

We need player to be ready for PL, there is a big gap in quality between championship and PL. Playing in PL and training with PL team will improve him a lot than playing in championship. Facing good quality wingers would be a very good learning for him.

I guess that's another promising defender we'll never see again. I thought he had some really good games

Why not? Periera did good while on loan and is being given a chance. If TFM plays regularly and shows enough progress to deserve a shot at United then I have no doubt Jose will give him a chance. He needs to develop positional sense and discipline, he certainly has got the physique to be a Mou player.

It's a moronic move if we haven't got someone lined up to replace him,
