We should have done the same with Tuanzebe, sending him out on loan to a shitty PL side where he gets plenty of minutes. We have so many defenders, he wont play more than 5 games this season. Glad Mensah is doing well

Our defence has been a hospital for the last 8 seasons - Carrick's played there numerous times - There always is that crap streak of injuries.
I think its safe to say that we need some backup like Tuanzebe and there are still question-marks over Lindelöf. It might be 5 games, but it would be terrible to lose vital points in those 5 games due to a shaky academy player having to play.
Tuanzebe and shaky doesn't add up. Cant remember him being shaky anytime when he played for the first team.
Bit hard to gauge how the rest of the season will pan out for Palace, but Mourinho might well be thinking he should have sent TFM elsewhere if they are going to be anchored to the bottom of the League. On the other hand, it might be a case of sink or swim for TFM if he can still manage to look good playing in a poor side. Either way, I doubt TFM will learn much from Hodgson.

I've watched Palace quite a bit this year and TFM has been one of the few players I think who has been quite solid.
Played really well. So far, this loan move looks quite good.
Wasn't refering to Tuanzebe, but the next player in line from the academy. Tuanzebe is part of the first-team afaik.
Williams is an exceptional player as well and before his injury impressed me more than Axel. Wouldn't mind Axel going in January but plan looks like Tfm loan this season and maybe Axel next.

Eh? He's no Fergie but the guy has been in football for years, managed all over the place, got right to the top and had some decent success along the way. At the very least he knows how to organise a defence. TFM should learn plenty.

Better than Lindelof. We should work with what we've got much more than we do.
He has really bulked up for this season. You just need to go back 18 months and he was a relatively lean lad compared to the boxer physique that he has now.
Hope he gets a spell in midfield at a point this season.

I agree & the high hopes of TFM for me is that we can mould him to the way we want due to his flexibility. I don't see him as a CB which we don't particularly need; neither do I see him as a RB. If he plays CDM or even CM and learn how to approach the game from there it would suit him an United much more.
He seemed to struggle with the pressure in his 2nd season, but I think this loan move will help him really concentrate and learn. it's good that Hodgson seems to be giving him a chance too, he could end up being a good successor to Valencia if he can work on his crossing/passing.

Well he didn't exactly play loads in the first either, but when he did he looked solid. I remember his debut against Watford he was really good, away at Tottenham he was outstanding.

His first season appearances were also close together and he was playing u23s football to stay fit. His second season he played 300 minutes of football at all levels stretched across the whole season. He was going months without stepping foot on the pitch, frankly it would ridiculous to expect him to have match sharpness.

Fair enough, but some of the games he had were pretty awful. I remember a home game against a lower cup side and he just passed it back and square 5 yards everytime he got the ball, then got subbed at HT.
I'm just saying it was a big fall from his previous performances, but looking at that video of him against Southampton he looks very, very good. Let's hope he can continue that and stay fit.

Watched him play live tonight, not a good night. He looked very aggressive, but was generally let down by how utterly shite Palace are, losing 4-1 to Bristol City. I still personally don't like seeing him at RB, but as I said, the Palace defence were generally shambolic.

Watching those clips, there’s definitely a player in there. He’s got all the attributes you want from a modern player. Shows a bit of rashness but that’s to be expected from a young player looking to make his mark. The more he plays, the more he’ll realise he doesn’t need to/can’t win every ball and he’ll be a lot better for it. Love his aggression in the tackle tho!
Just gotta hope that there’s a plan to progress him into the United team and he’s not another one that falls by the wayside. Would be genuinely upset if the big fella doesn’t come back and establish himself...

The best players are the best from a very young age.
I don't see it personally in TFM, really poor decision making a lot of time and as you said, very rash. Hope he can make it but only a very select few can make it at Man Utd. Saying that, Jesse Lingard can so anyone can.
That's really not true but he was actually playing for United as a teenager. Way ahead of most his age.
