"But as a football club we allowed ourselves to close the door on it, and this door is remaining closed. I can promise that to everybody."

I didn't like that part. Seems like next summer ain't gonna happen either, unless Muller forces it through which i highly doubt.

This move will never happen unless Muller pushes for it, for me it's totally dependent on whether Muller wants to go and while I don't think he does just now I can imagine he is flattered with the bids mentioned. It plants the seed as well.

As much as Bayern fans are convinced this guy won't go I wouldn't be totally surprised to see him decide he'd like to try a different league. Even the likes of Giggs back in the days were tempted with offers from Italy though they stayed. I think with the English league a lot bigger worldwide than German it might just appeal to him. If he decided he wants to go it will be very hard for Bayern to keep him.

Even if he fancies it, I don't think he'd ever try and force his way out. Doesn't seem the sort.

More likely to see him try a new league when he's in a similar age/situation to Schewini.

As much as I'd like to have Muller play for us, I don't want us to become like Real Madrid forcing similarly sized clubs to sell their best players. I feel like we should be better than that and would much prefer us to improve our own players or buy from smaller clubs than try to steal the best players from clubs that are just as big as us.

Apart from Ronaldo and to a certain extent Kroos, who have Madrid got off the clubs as big as them. The Figo and Zidane ones were ages ago and they had to pay through their teeth for Zidane. That is basically 4 players over 2-3 decades. Am I missing someone else?

That's football though, if it's not us doing it to them, it's them doing it to us. We can develop kids look at Ronaldo but we didn't even get him in his prime as Real did as we are now aiming to do.

I don't think he has to force a move just express his desire to leave.

Apart from the De Gea saga this year, they have bought Kaka, Beckham, Xabi Alonso, Van Nistelrooy and to some extent Robben, from clubs who would have been their main rivals in the champions league. Each of those was arguably in the top 2-3 players at the clubs. I'm not saying that they do it all the time, just that I don't think we should really be doing it at all unless the player is keen to leave and could go to a rival club. This whole unsettling players and tapping them up would leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

Kaka I would agree. RVN and Robben, both were getting sold by their parents club. RM just happened to be the best bidder and the players wanted to go to them. If you start taking those transfers into consideration, then even Madrid have sold Robben and Sneijder. Both top players but Madrid wanted rid of them.

Time for Woody to have an interview where he spends hours crying on air about this and insulting Bayern.

"Thomas dreamed of joining us, but ultimately the Bayern board didn't understand the mathematics of the excellent offer we sent them. I'm not trying to lay blame here, but if they had been less retarded this all would have ended differently. It's the same as when they tried to get Messi and Ronaldo, everything happens for a reason. I often talk with Heynckes on the phone and he agrees with me"

Apart from when they conned us into buying Hargreaves you mean

You mean the part where you turned a player's head with massive wages and the promise to play a massive role at Manchester United for the years to come. Leading to an ugly power struggle between Uli Hoeneß and the player until United raised their offer to an amount that made up for our loss.

Yeah we really conned you guys. :nervous:

It turned out a better deal for you than us though didn't it?

lot of reports saying lvg wanted bale or muller.

Out of the two i think bale is more likely. I don't ever see bayern letting muller go in his prime.

Although I agree with you in general, any nobility in your post pretty much went out the window with the bolded bit.

No high horse was intended. However, what I meant by small clubs is clubs that would not be competing against us for the same things (PL, CL, top four). It works for them as they can get good money for their players, the players will (in their eyes) see it as a step up and we get good players. The Depay deal was the epitomy of this and PSV were by all accounts happy with what they got for him.

It's different to raiding the best player from a club you are competing against. It's what we did with RVP, but Wenger seemed to be more than happy with the fee that they got and it seems there was no tapping up etc.

Fair enough.

He's a brilliant player, would have taken him over Bale any day.

easily in top 5 players in the world, ridiculously good.....put him anywhere in any system and he will produce his magic.

The funny thing is it's hard to imagine Thomas Müller being anywhere near world class in a 1v1 football game. In a team game though he really shines. Such an incredibly important player for Germany and Bayern.

He's superb. Instrumental in every German goal tonight. The sort of player who'd find a way to fit into any team.

I was at the game tonight. His movement off the ball is different class.

That German side at times were just a joy to watch. Him, Bastian and Gundogan were tremendous to watch.

Sign them all!

I agree Gundogan and Muller going forward were fantastic. Gotze was great upfront too. Never thought of him as a striker.

Agreed! If only.

I'm not sure what the real story behind the Gundogan rumours was. It seems clear that he was gettable, though. I, for one, was hoping we were in for him.
