This is just not happening. First we miss out on Otamendi chasing Ramos and now it will be Pedro because of this.

It's quite clear we weren't keen on Otamendi at all. Numerous journalists tweeted about our interesting being exaggerated.

As much as I found out - it is still the talk about last weeks offer. Sportbild - the print magazine - is a weekly paper coming out every Wednesday (the articles probably have Monday night as a deadline). They talk about an offer from last week - Rummenigge's reaction on an offer (or answer to the journalists question on a BILD article - that is a daily magazine - from Wednesday) was Wednesday last week.

The different figures - BILD to Sportbild can be gross, net, special clauses - you never know. A sales tax would make 85 to 101 - and you can withdraw it with incoming sales tax so normal people pay it - people that buy and sell can substract it in the books. But I know nothing about what kind of taxes etc. would apply.

See it differently. We all think there was a bid - in what form or way is a questionmark. The reaction of Rummenigge last week just showed that it was not just paper talk but that there has been something officially.

But a lower bid would have caused just laughter from Rummenigge and he would have really ridiculed it. Like this he just called him stubborn or persistent. Could be that there was a lower offer some weeks ago. During the China tour BILD knew about an 80m EUR offer - Rummenigge told about a flying duck but it was the first time he emphasized again this season that Müller is not for sale - Müller told in an interview that there was a lot turmoil the recent two days about it. Turmoil just because of paper talk...

-------------------------------------------------

I just try to organize what I believe was true... Stories in English papers about talk of friends... - that is bullocks.

Müller... - my feeling is he stays in Munich as long as he can play a good role there (and that means a lot playing time - nothing that is in danger right now) and that is appreciated by the club. When he was asked in the recent years about that topic he always said that the FC Bayern is his club and that he stays when he has the class to play a good role in it - and that you can see foreign countries in your holidays or after your footballing career.

I think Schweinsteiger's leaving, the transfer rumours about him and the reaction on the local fans showed the club officials how important he is for the club - the tour to China where he got superstar reception has shown how important he is for the international market for Bayern. It is the market Bayern has pointed out as the market they want to rise big in - and Adidas recently told that the Chinese market is already the biggest market for their FC Bayern products outside of Germany. The club officials have voiced his importance for the club a lot in the recent weeks - Rummenigge, Sammer - how important it is that he grows more and more into the leader role etc. He officially took over the job as third captain (from Neuer who went from third to vice). I expect to see that on the pitch, too.

I for sure would not be surprised if Müller retires in 9 years at Bayern and never has played somewhere else. He was asked some weeks ago - retirement in the MLS or in an Arabian Country. He answered Kreisklasse C, Zugspitzregion - that is where his brother plays for the hometown club...

So Muller is our back up to Pedro, surely?

Thinking of how Van Gaal seems to like lining up his teams these days he usually has an inverted winger, a number 10, and a pacey wide man e.g. Ribery, Muller and Robben at Bayern.

Now Van Gaal has (by the grace of God) given up on the Memphis as a 10 experiment, he seems to have shifted focus to getting a new 10 who can play his system. Nobody is better at it than Thomas Muller.

We probably won't get him but I can see the logic (from the Van Gaal point of view) in shifting targets. Mata is his Ribery, Memphis is his Robben and he wants Muller to be well...Muller. The alternative plan seems to be to make Januzaj the next Jari Litmanen, which I wouldn't mind seeing frankly.

I can see the thinking of Muller playing #10 for us as well. I can also see the thinking of Bale playing right wing, Messi up front and Neuer in net. If we have dropped interest in Pedro to target Thomas fecking Muller we're deluded.

This. For me, a superior player. I'd throw anything at Bayern to get him here.

Younger than Bale, and less reliant on pace too so will likely have superior longevity. Picking up on the point made by @#07 , it makes sense that LVG may have switched targets with Memphis operating on the left of a front 3 - I suppose I thought Mata may play #10 rather than on the right of the three. That said, this line-up looks half decent.

---------------Rooney------------------

Memphis------Muller-------------Mata

-------Schweini-------Carrick----------

Shaw----Blind--------Smalling---Darmian

---------------De Gea-----------------

Zero chance this happens and I'll be annoyed that we've pulled out of the race to sign Pedro when Muller envitiably stays at Bayern.

But if we have been after Pedro for the past month, I don't buy that LVG has changed his mind after seeing Depay play one game on the left (against that level of opposition too).

It's very likely Woody and co have been bidding for him all summer for LVG but I think they're the only ones who think they can get him.

I agree it would be premature, but if as others have said it isn't about the money, you'd assume its a change of tact. Or, you know, it could be as simple of Pedro preferring Chelsea over United - that's just a bit harder to stomach.

This isn't going to happen. There's no way Bayern lose Muller this summer and I doubt he will ever go. It's a nice dream but sadly that's the problem... It's a dream.

This move is hopeless and Woody knows it. Is he trying to appease fans for the Pedro fiasco?

There's really no chance of this happening.

Bayern have already publicly ruled out him leaving this summer and categorically assured the fans he's not leaving.

Yeah, there is no chance Bayern are going to perform a u turn and sell him after saying that. They'd look like a complete joke.

Hilarious that the media think we dropped interest in Pedro to go for Muller as an alternative, he's a completely different player who plays in a different position and why would Bayern even consider selling him.

I think the media know they need another story to focus on. Pedro has been the talk for the last couple of weeks but that's now almost dead in the water to united. There's no way he was our plan b to Pedro that's utter nonsense.

to be honest to all the naysayers. How many thought we would have Di Maria, Falcao, Schweinsteiger all feature for this club in the last 12 months?

We are super super rich. If we Want Muller (which I would love) and we go massive for him (especially as he doesnt see eye to eye with Pep) then we could easily land him,.

He is obviously plan a and Pedro b

2 reasons it COULD be

1 - the Memphis at No.10 experiment has ended so in Van Gaals mind a No.10 is now priority over a winger (pedro)
2 - Maybe Muller is actually gettable through indicators of his agent etc.

No, he isn't.

So much goes on behind closed doors that we will never know.

Didn't Moyes say we were close to bringing Ronaldo back?

Am certain the club will not put bids in for players that they have no idea if there is even a possibility that they will join. Public declarations from clubs (and even players) mean very little.
