Probably have to wait until they do AJ vs Nakamura, whenever they decide to do that.
That's hardly a ringing endorsement of Nakamura given that AJ Styles could have a great match with an umbrella.

It's just unfortunate that as great as Nakamura can be, he's hardly ever arsed enough to put in the effort.

The way hes been used since coming to SD has not been good. At all. NXT used him better. And whilst he wasnt going full on there either, he was still entertaining and had good matches.

Yeah that is Nakamura's downside, though I'm sure whatever shite they've got him doing at the minute isn't helping his motivation. And to be fair he's not just capable of having a great match with AJ but a bloody amazing one. That is if they are given appropiate time. And they don't book a shite finish.

Ah feck it just give us Orton/Mahal VII so we don't have to get our hopes up.

Why are elimination matches always completely lacking logic? Why would anybody break up a pin or submission hold?

It's fecking dumb.

I thought they could have played up Lana's inexperience when she did that. Although, after being squashed by Naomi, there was literally no reason for her to have even been anywhere near that match in the first place.

It was idiotic. AJ effectively pinned himself by doing a move he doesn't normally do. Makes him look like an idiot. All they needed to do was save the low blow from the Corbin/Nakamura match (Corbin can use the briefcase for the DQ same result) and after the ref bump in AJ/Owens just have Owens low blow AJ and roll him up with a handful of tights. Same results in both but doesn't make AJ look like a dope and at least gives you something to build on. Instead we get Owens pinned him clean and......? That's it? Oh yeah champion gets a rematch clause...yawn.

I imagine we will end up with a 2/3 falls match or some other gimmick between him and Owens either at Summerslam or between now and then on Smackdown.

I thought they were going for the "tap-out while the ref isn't looking" spot, with AJ releasing the hold and Owens capitalising on the tap-out not ending the match.

What a joke.

Maybe I'm not seeing it but Nakamura seems very ordinary.

The whole Lana and Tamina thing was for...? What purpose exactly? And why did Lana stop that elimination?

Mike Kinellis loses his second match!?

The Cena v Rusev match was a joke. Just stupid. Just grab the flag, run to entrance and stick it in like the first time you had sex you fecking Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime

The main event actually put me to sleep. Now I'm screwed tonight as I'll struggle to doze off

Nakamura and Corbin are boring. Nakamura's whole thing is gurning, slicking his hair back over to one side, and firing off increasingly slower kicks as a match progresses. Corbin's is looking like a greaseball with some dirty clothes, and being big.

Thought they'd do another cheap win for Maria's Husband, but it looks like they don't actually want a proper Zayn/Kanellis feud so just ended it there.

Cena was also at an advantage from the start, with his flag being the length of the ring closer to the stand. I also don't know why neither of them went for the others flag and threw it somewhere.

I think that Styles vs Owens match takes the title for oddest finish of the year so far and it's got some strong competition. Actually their last match was odd as well with Styles' foot getting caught in wires, their match at Summerslam better be fecking normal.

I was thinking when watching it that Cena should have took Rusev's flag and pass it back amongst the crowd. There's no way they would have gave it back to Rusev

Quite sure most the anti cena fans would bring the flag back to the ring and perch it on themselves just for the lols.

Fanatastic. The Austin Stunner one is great also.

Also WWE really need to make Braun an outright good guy after Summerslam. I was thinking Joe needs to win the title, but I wouldnt mind Braun winning it either.

I'm still heartbroken.

Naito fist bumping the ghost of Daryl yesterday was brilliant. I love LIJ as a group so much. Just a shame that Fale stunk out the big match after all that.

On yesterday, Omega vs Yano was so much fun, Yano is such a breath of fresh air in the tournament every year. Hyped to finish work to watch ZSJ vs Bad Luck Fale in particular. It could be brilliant or absolutely atrocious and the concept fascinates me.

Looks like SummerSlam will have AJ V Nakamura for the US Title, should be a WM main event for the WWE championship

it wasn't very good.

I really want to get in to New Japan. Someone give me a breakdown of how, what, where and when. I keep hearing about this Kenny Omega bloke who has a great look.

my word you can say that again.

Fale has had stinkers with Tetsuya Naito and Zack Sabre Jr now, two of the best around and the only two matches I would describe as stinkers in the whole tournament so far. When you're being significantly outperformed by Togi Makabe (who's match with Goto was probably the closest in quality to these last two Fale matches from the whole tournament) then you need to ask yourself serious questions.

On the plus side it's been great seeing YOSHIHASHI, Tama Tonga and (in particular) Juice Robinson step up.

Now isn't a good time to jump in, they started a tournament last week that has shows like every day so there's some catching up if you wanted to try.

To get the best idea I'd say the weekend of shows August 11th to 13th for current stuff, last two nights of the league and the finals will include all the key players prominently, aside from that Wrestle Kingdom 11 and the recent Dominion show. All available easily enough on their streaming service.

I'm sure Jericho said he wouldn't be back for a long time after this recent run. They must have been desperate after the shit show that was battleground.

And other news Talking Smack is back...kinda.

Man the u.s title really is a hot potato. Happy Y2J is back though!
I'm probably alone in this but I'm tired of Jericho. When I was young and he'd just come from WCW to the WWF he was, alongside Austin, my favourite, and his return in 2007(?) brought me back to the product after I'd stopped watching for a while, but I find him very boring now. I don't mind his podcast, though.

His last run with KO was probably his best run since that feud with HBK run.

No he was supposed to be back in July before SummerSlam. He also did a few house shows a few weeks back when WWE were in Asia.

Anyway, Jericho came back and SmackDown had a good show after a long long time. With the talent in the roster if they get the title off Jinder SmackDown can have a good run again till WM.

I agree. I hate this 'lets put the title on Jinder cos hes indian and we want the indian market'
I dont even think Jinder is the most popular there. His matches have not been good at all. I wanted to give him a chance but I dont think hes done that great. His promos are all pretty much the same.

And the weird thing, on SD you have him, Rusev and KO all doing anti-american gimmicks. Its lazy.

Owens' gimmick is great though, the other two are standard foreign heel gimmicks.

Hasnt that been proven to be false.

But regardless, that relationship is not doing either any favours. Its a sad thing to follow.

They're a pair of clowns. He's in a mid-life crisis and she needs to grow up.

Interesting to see what WWE does now. Their policy states that a wrestler will be suspended when arrested for domestic abuse and sacked if convicted.

The thing is Dave Meltzer says that he is not that popular in India so they brought Khali back who is actually very popular there to help Jinder.

Kenny Omega is awesome.

Sign up for NJPW World to begin with at the start of next month so you don't get billed twice (they charge the start of the month so wait a few days) so you can watch all the shows, its 999 YEN a month so whatever that converts to. Easier than trying to hunt down streams and hoping that someone puts stuff up on Youtube and you see it before it gets taken down.

They also show the opening matches on their own channel on Youtube but these normally tend to be the NJPW juniors (cruiserweight equivilant) or multi-man tag matches. They do add free matches as well, last one added was last years G1 Final with Omega vs Goto which was the match that made me a Kenny Omega fanboy. Watch on Youtube for free.

http://blogofdoom.com/index.php/2017/07/13/njpw-g1-climax-primer-2/

Heres a link to give the basic background to the G1, (not mine at all) to bring you up to speed with the majority of the main characters and the format.
Cody Rhodes also pops in from time to time as a member of Bullet Club but he isn't in the G1.

Would Kenny omega ever come WWE?

He's been and left already. Kenny thrives on freedom and doing whatever he wants, New Japan give him that creative freedom where WWE are incredibly unlikely to ever do so. He's also super settled living in Japan and being the face of NJPW's upcoming US expansion.

Never say never, but I don't see it ever happening.

I'm calling it, Juice Robinson is the most improved wrestler anywhere in the world this year. On a semi related note, the finish to SANADA vs Toru Yano was magnificent.

Best decision to leave NXT. Good to see him shining.

Someone told me he was "skinny fat jobber" CJ Parker and I didn't believe them until I looked it up myself. Mad where he is now.
