Nikki Bella was the only option to win. Nikki Bella is also over so will be treated as a face whenever there's actual heels around, placing her in this tweener role. It's really very simple.

If NXT stuff was considered, then Sasha would've won. But the highlight of her main roster career so far has been her shaking her ass in New Day segments so she didn't really deserve to win. Nikki easily deserved it.

Nikki's not really a face either but Paige is atrocious and was mocking a dead guy a few weeks ago. Crowd were probably confused.
 
Such a weird opening segment: I did not care much for it, but I can see the progress in Reigns and his talking. Just felt a bit childish. At least there were no What chants.
Maybe it just irks me how inconsistent they are with Reigns and his "family". Suddenly, they are part of the fold again and feel the wrath of Steph, but when he needs them they are out partying or something. Odd.

Rhyno has been replaced by Kane then. Hope they will continue with the Wyatts, making them look strong for the Rumble. I would like to see them dominate a chunk of the match, and Strowman can be a force in the rumble if he gets in early and is allowed to dominate for a while.

R-Truth winning the LOL moment of the year is an absolute disgrace. Triple H dancing deserved it.

Seth Rollins winning is fair I think. Good to see him back too, even on crutches. He'll get such a babyface pop when he fully returns, especially with his redesign/rebuild comments. So easy to sell him turning baby too, he had all the time in the world to consider his actions.

New Day threatening to spoil Star Wars was another highlight in a year full of goofy antics from them.

League of Nations have been booked the way they should have been booked from the start. Except Barret because you know, he's Barret :( Interesting move to get a Triple Threat for the IC Title on Smackdown tonight together with a Tag Title match. Do they finally want us to give a crap about smackdown?

I agree with Poe, this Slammy Awards was way too underwhelming and it takes away the prestige of the show when the winners can't even be bothered to show up. It makes it seem as if the ceremony is beneath those winners. The only notable one was Seth Rollins who actually made it more of a noteworthy moment. The crowd in Minny last night were in complete disappointment and boredom.

You could argue that Nikki Bella was the one to win it, however, it was Sasha Banks and Bayley who actually made the Diva's wrestling division feel more prestigious and relevant again. The matches those two put at Takeover were crazy and had everybody buzzing about it and anxious to see where she would go next. She is the most over Diva right now and that is a clear fact. Is it "We want Bella" you hear the fans chanting every night? I didn't think so.

Regardless, that dosen't excuse Creatives poor booking here. Why have to long time enemies all of a sudden best friends?

The LON should have been booked that way since they start with all 4 members being at their matches, so that everyone would have taken them more seriously.
Frankly if you ask me, I wish they would go back to Friday Night Smackdown.
 
Raw has gone back to being crap it seems.. Now they are saying John Cena will return next week on social media rather than doing a surprise appearance which would of worked better.

Rhyno and Dreamer should just go back. Tag team works best with 2 man teams. Lucha, Uso, Dudley and New Day are all talented and should be able to carry the division. Add in a properly booked Ascension and it's got all the talent it needs.

I voted R-Truth. I genuinely laughed at that moment. The sheer unexpectedness and stupidity was naturally funny.

Seth was a surprise but surprisingly underplayed. He looked so serious and lacked his natural gloating/self absorbed pitch. I think he should remain a heel, unless the Shield v2 is back on radar again.
 
I miss Rollins. Cant wait for him to return.

Also hope Cena takes the US title back next week.

NXT isn't canon and never has been, mentioning that in relation to the Slammy's is like saying an U13's player should make team of the year, just no.

As for Sasha being most over, no metric backs that up. Nikki's merch outsells every girl with ease, only Paige comes relatively close.

I can't even believe the prestige of the event is a conversation since the Slammy's are purely there for storyline advancement but whatever.

Nikki has been a tweener for ages, ever since Naomi turned not long after Mania. It's clear as day that Team Bella flip depending on whatever is needed for that reason.

the whole merchandise theory is a fallacy because Nikki Bella is an ambassador for the WWE who has clearly been here at the company far longer than she has.

Sasha Banks has been having her name chanted on EVERY episode of Raw and Smackdown, even when she is not even there and despite the fact that she is a HEEL. Shit, even Becky Lynch is more over than Nikki Bella.

I think she was the right choice. Sasha is for the future, Nikki got it for what she has already done..longest reign and all that. I would have had Sasha for the category Neville won, but then KO is arguable better there.

Nikki deserved it tbh. Whether its by default or not, for the year on Raw (and SD) she was the main part of the story with Paige second. NXT means nothing with regards to the award system.

Sasha might get her name chanted every week, but Nikki had more people vote for her. Its just that simple.

Looking forward to see how / where WWE edits the crowd for the upcoming NXT show.

Triple Threat match was really good.
Ambrose is one hell of a competitor. Got whacked in the head pretty badly and still put on one heck of a performance.

NXT has no bearing on the Slammys which is pretty much Raw / SD (or as they call it main roster). Its always been like this, otherwise you would have NXT matches / rivalries / people up for awards.

More people voted for Nikki hence why she won. Its not a hard concept.

No, the main fact is that voting is done based on "the main show". Not sure why its hard to comprehend? When has NXT ever mattered to the slammies? Nobody cares who is chanted for most, or why people watch a certain thing. Its based on who gets the most votes.

You have to remember the people who vote in these are mainly kids and casual fans, not the IWC. It's why you get mostly faces winning... like The Usos who have only just returned winning Tag Team and Neville beating KO for breakout star, despite doing nothing on the main roster.

Sasha has also done nothing since she came up to the main roster, and shes stuck in the wannabe female new day. I can't even remember the last time she wrestled on Raw or even Smackdown, she's not been involved in a PPV match since SummerSlam where her team was eliminated in about 2 minutes.

I am surprised Nikki did win it over Paige though.

Good thing though, It looks like it'll be Sasha's turn for a singles run around Wrestlemania though. Just need to get rid of Tamina and Natasha first.

Should NXT be included in the awards? In my opinion, yes. Is or has NXT been included in the awards? No. Never. It's that simple.

Just this year Nikki merch easily outsells Sasha's. One of the main takeaways anyone who I've spoken to who attended shows is that they're always surprised how many people are wearing Nikki merch.

As for your last point, crowd pop is a really bad metric of who is over, at the end of the day that noise doesn't make a penny, and this being a business, that is what's important. Worth noting that every single one of Sasha's main roster matches have been completely heatless too, mind.

You need to take a walk outside the bubble, realise that what Wreddit say is very very rarely anything but the opposite of what the majority think.

I don't really read wreddit or care for them, I just write what I think from what I have seen.

Sasha's matches are heatless because creative will never give her a decent feud with anybody to work with and it is incredibly appalling. She puts on great matches with pretty much everyone she is with (including beating Nikki Bella twice) but never progress any of it. It is quite a damn shame that arguably the most talented Woman on the roster on the roster is not getting anything to work with, while Charlotte and her appalling character(for now) can be shoved down our throats.


Once again, my main qualm isn't that Sasha did not win it, it is that Creative just doesn't have a damn clue on how to creative constructive and great storylines within the Divas Divison despite having an ample amount of talented hard-working individuals.
