Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

I remember it being on some sports show on a Saturday afternoon as well. I also remember watching 'WWF' when it was on sky movies before moving to sky sports, feck me that must have been 23-25 years ago.

Yeah, I can vaguely remember WWF on Sky Movies too. To be honest all I really remember of early WWE aside from the obvious (Warrior, Hogan, Sgt Slaughter) is The Attitude Era and RAW causing mayhem and Smackdown being like the Rock's own show.

tbh Main roster WWE is the first thing I feck off when I'm not feeling wrestling. Between NXT, Lucha Underground and NJPW I'm really starting to enjoy wrestling again. Raw annoys the feck out of me, a lot of good wrestling where nothing means anything so there's no point. Add in that every match is exactly the same and the three hours really starts to drag, even when it's a good show.

The WWE match thing has really started to grate me of late. Give me some variety ffs. Even Vince Russo realised you need variety and he's a fecking idiot.

Also ROH when I hear they've got something good on their TV and all the PPVs.

Spot on how I feel. NXT and a select few are keeping me sane at this point. Raw/Smackdown are unbearable at times.

Wasn't WCW on Channel 5? Either just after or just before "It's a Knockout"

Remember how they censored the chairshots with Batman style "whack!" "pow!" things?

Smackdown has become as pointless as that third show, whatever it's called.

RAW is up and down, if they showed 3 hours of NXT level stuff, it'd be the best thing on tv, probably.

If you mean Main Event/Superstars I couldn't disagree more, they are WAYYYYYY better than Smackdown. You get some fresh matches that don't follow "the formula" from the undercard. The Fandango vs Adam Rose month of matches was real fun, and Cesaro vs Sin Cara had one of the best matches the company has had this year on there.

all the best main roster women's stuff is on there too.

Ahhhh, WCW late night on ITV, what a time.....
The best were Friday nights for me, back in the day i used to go to the shop and get snacks, then i would watch TFI Friday on Ch 4, flick over to cartoon network and wait for that to finish, then TNT would come on and that would always start with WCW Nitro, that would finish at the same time that WWF Raw would start on sky sports, then on channel 26 DSF which was a German channel they would show Mexican wrestling of some description dubbed in German.

Then on the Same channel (DSF) they used to have all the WCW PPVs, also dubbed in German, which looking back worked out really well because i didn't get to hear Bobby Heenan ruin Hogans heel turn at Bash at the beach '96. The day that at 12 years old i discovered my dads adult channel subscription card made my friday nights complete!

So am I the only person who has been enjoying Raw lately? Seth has been playing the ultimate heel, Cena has had the open challenge, and the midcard has been shuffling to create new feuds all over the place

feck yes, I remember this. WCW going to channel five and the batman style "wham" "pow" and stuff was just so hilariously bad. There was a time nitro was starting an hour before Raw and this was a time before sky plus (and high speed downloading) so it was a lot of switching back and forth.

I remember early day WCW (think it was the first wrestling I saw) on ITV late nights. Sting teaming with Flair and Flair turning on him after a hot tag. And being so annoyed that Steiners got cheated out of the tag titles by bam bam gordy and doctor death.

Yup, that's 3 of us that are showing our age here now  When it switched to Channel 5 it just wasn't the same. I completely forgot about Sting, of course he was there too, and the Four Horsemen, Steiners etc. I also remember a pretty awful documentary (I think it was on C4) about inside Wrestling and it went in to the Montreal Screw Job and also covered Jake the Snake and his awful crack addiction. From memory it was brutal and didn't pull any punches, especially towards Vince McMahon.

Is that 'Beyond the mat'? That was a quality documentary if so.

They showed Beyond the mat on ch4? Damn.

I remember DSF, that channel was free on Sky before TNT picked up WCW (after cartoon network)
I also remember reading about wrestling, on teletext
I remember reading Hogan went to hollywood but would return for the match and pick a side and thinking "pick a side? hes wcw though" haha.

Yup, that's the one.

Edit! When I said "awful" I meant as in how brutal it was, not that it was a bad documentary.

Where would one find regular streams of Lucha? Every time I see any of it I'm impressed so wouldn't mind getting into it.

Elimination Chamber predictions:

Ambrose vs Rollins: Rollins win.
Probably some kind of interference from Kane, J&J and Reigns with Rollins picking up the win. Move on, nothing here.

Cena vs Owens: Cena win.
Probably by a DQ after a strong showing by Owens. No point taking away the US championship unless Owens is promoted full time.

Tag Team: New Day win.
Simply because they are the hottest team right now. Cesaro/Kidd is past sell by date and none of other teams even make it to RAW regularly.

Intercontinental Championship: Sheamus win.
He really is getting a push and in last match against Ziggler, he didn't even sell Ziggler making any kind of impact. Interference from Rusev cannot be ruled out.

Divas: Naomi win.
Bella has held it, Paige has held it, time for Naomi to hold it now. I'd rather it was Tamina doing Lesnar type thingy there.

Neville vs Dallas: Does anybody care?

Rollins
Cena via DQ
New Day
Sheamus
Paige
Neville

Interested to see where they're going to go with Ambrose after this and whether there's any truth in the heel turn rumors (maybe Reigns costs him the match by accident here?).

If Owens loses to Cena by pinfall or submission it'll be an absolute joke. Confident they've got enough sense not to do that.

Lucha's seem like the only possibility of winning the tag title's after what happened on Smackdown, but expect New Day win here. They aren't as shit as they first were, still don't get the hype though. The title's should be with Cesaro/Kidd.

Sheamus to win and rightfully so, he's been brilliant since his heel turn.

Paige to win the title if they've got any sense. Any outcome in this one wouldn't be surprising though.

Yeah, Ambrose is on a roll and this defeat should not kill the momentus. Reigns will move off and win the MitB. I really want Ambrose/Wyatt now that Ryback has moved to Rusev.

Sheamus is awful. His new look is horrible. He's trying to be a wannabe Lesnar. His last match vs Ziggler was just so meh! Doesn't see any hits he receives well.

Rollins, Cena DQ, Sheamus, New Day, Nikki, Neville. Just about any other results would be total bollocks now that Rusev is seemingly out.

Ambrose Wyatt? They only did that 6 months ago and it was horrendous. Sheamus is fecking great, what's not to love about big lads absolutely hammering each other? He's also nothing at all like Lesnar in any way, other than that he's a stiff big lad.

That was a disgraceful raw. It's ridiculous that in a 3 hour show they can barely get any decent matches. And why are there commercial breaks in the middle of 6 minute matches? I can't be that hard to script a show around the ads.

Urgh, I always preferred Barrett and Cesaro over Sheamus.

I thought Ambrose/Wyatt was gaining some momentum. The promos on Wyatt knowing something about Ambrose family background etc had potential. Sadly it was left half finished as usual by Creative. They are the hottest stars around atm and have good in-ring chemistry too.

Ads in the middle of matches are actually very logical as opposed to inbetween them......as if it's a half decent match, you'll more likely stick around not to miss the restart, thus watching the ads. Which makes them worth more money.

Their chemistry was awful, it was basically two guys clunkily moving between spots Shinsuke Nakamura had done much better that week. Something that Bray does A LOT, and I'm a Bray fan.

Bray Wyatt hasn't been hot since Chris Jericho beat him clean.

That's why they work them that way, apparently it's a good sign for a wrestler if they get a match with an ad break in the middle as it means the WWE think they're interesting enough that fans will stick around.
