Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

I have only been re-watching WWE for 2 and a half years and last night just represents why I switched off in the first place.

First off, Cena and Orton wrestling another main event match. That's number 18 together in their careers. The crowd absolutely shit on it. Chanting for Bryan, Savage, YSJ, we want divas, same old shit and this is awful. For me that should be really embarrassing for the company, all on a big four PPV.

Second off, Bryan not being in the Rumble and the impact that had on the Rumble after the crowd found out he was not 30. That reaction was so obvious, it took away from Reigns's push and also made Batista look bad. I'm sure they could have spared JBL or El Torito to get Bryan in there and have him eliminated by Batista, if that's the way they want the main event title match.

The PPV itself was okay but it had the potential to be very good and that potential was wasted again by bad booking.

There is no way Foley's social media or the comments of his son on social media are works. Bryan's comments may well be. Foley's son went as far as to tell HHH to feck off and that his dad made his ass . That's funny as a through away comment but the sad thing everything in Foley's facebook rant and tweets is 100% the truth and that's coming from a company guy and someone who is normally very diplomatic. WWE just don't get what their fans want and that arrogance makes their product about half as good as it could be.

Foley's not the only one to have shat on the Rumble. JR has tactfully and the likes of Jim Duggan have also said things. Lance Storm is the only wrestler who has steadfastly supported the booking of the Rumble and he just looks out of date to me.

WWE have been after main stream social media coverage for the last two years. Well Mick's got them that with his twitter comments:lol:

Can't believe the bbc are even reporting on this  Surely a first.

That's bad journalism. Bryan's social media comments are part of a work. It's in keeping with his character.

Foley was legit pissed off with the Rumble PPV as a fan and got 16,000 people retweeting his tweet who agreed with him. That's his own personal views, of which I 100% agree.

Pity they did not quote Foley's son's my dad made your ass comments on HHH.

I'm generally a bit of a supporter of HHH, but last night reeked of the bad HHH you hear so much about. New Age Outlaws are tag champs (In like their 4th match back? What the feck?) His pet project Bray Wyatt won and now they're forcing a program with Cena, Orton is still your champ, Kevin Nash got to show-up, and Batista won the rumble.

i don't think i have known a reaction quite like this one in twenty years of watching wrestling, people are legit pissed off

Same, only started re watching at the end of 2012 but this is the worst reaction i've seen since I started watching wrestling as a kid.

People were legit pissed off with the Montreal Screwjob more than this but I get your point with the reactions being generated as there was an interesting back story to that. This just reeks of the company being far to arrogant or out of touch for it's own good.

WWE could be brilliant and compelling viewing but half the time it's a chore and most of the time that is because of the people in charge.

To be fair, Wyatt is legit and was expected to win regardless. Bryan didn't need to win, he already got his spot over Bray in the cage and a loss doesn't hurt him whatsoever, and Batista was also predicted to win pre Rumble. Orton was always going to win against Cena, you don't make someone the undisputed champion blah blah for them to lose it immediately. New Age outlaws got 'you still got it' from the crowd on their return and every match after that and it sets up the Cody vs Goldust feud especially with Goldust eliminating Cody. Maybe there were better choices for the tag titles to go on than the Outlaws, but they can still go and the titles were always coming off the brotherhood I just imagined it being at EC.

I'm disappointed in the lack of surprise entrants though.

I mainly remember a lot of confusion abiut the screwjob, but it was 97 which was 2 whole years before i got the internet

It was more main stream news coverage. Bret informed the Canadian Press that Shawn Micheals had not legitimately beat him for the belt and of course people remember the end of the PPV. It was a big story back in the day but less Internet related.

If anyone's not read Mick Foley's son comments on social media, here they are:

"Sorry people who know much about wrestling, but this company right now is in some serious s--t. This is really bad for their company because one or two individuals truly believe that their opinions reign much higher over the millions and millions of people who watch their show religiously on a weekly basis. It's such a horrible feeling obviously because it hits close to home. You have these guys who work their asses off 320+ days a year, who barely see their loved ones, and they get completely disrespected and disregarded because Triple f--king H thinks they're 'too small' or not star material.

"My dad made your ass, and people told my dad all his life that he would amount to nothing. So Triple H should know from experience that the people that work their asses off and that are told that they are worthless, are the ones that make the company the best it can be. Without my dad, Triple H is just a mid-carder. My dad went out of his way to make sure that he turned Triple H into the intimidating, scary, cerebral assassin, son of a b---h that he has become. So it's about time that people who deserve to be the best are given the opportunity to show it. WWE is a f--king dictatorship and it is just truly a shame."

If they had any brains WWE would work Foley and the reactions his comments have generated into their storylines as it would actually make the show more compelling. Have HHH come out tonight and shoot on Foley and Bryan and then work it into a programme.

The JBL entry was meant to cause confusion I think, unfortunately the cameras fecked it all up and caught Kane coming back to the ring anyway.

Actually, now you mention it I remember a news article about it but it was in German and i don-t speak German, these were the days when i used to watch wwf on sky sports and wcw nitro on tnt and wcw ppv on DSF which was dubbed in German

I think it was a nod to the time King entered the Rumble. I believe it was 1997, he entered and was eliminated very quickly, and then went back to commentating as if he'd never even been in the Rumble.

Besides, people are angry at the wrong thing. I don't care who won the Rumble, The Glorious Golden One ft. Cody lost his tag team title :(

A lot of people are legit pissed about this, and rightly so. The crowd at Raw tonight could be interesting

Only dont think it will effect anything, WWE knows WM30 has to be a Box office attraction and Reigns/Bryan dont provide that attraction to the casual fans yet, Batista Orton will be booed out of the stadium anyway

also in other news, big strike from fans outside WWE HQ

Firstly, the vast majority of fans wanted Daniel Bryan to win the Royal Rumble so that he would be in line for a WWE World Title match at WM30. That did not happen.

Yet.

Obviously, Daniel Bryan has made an amazing connection with the WWE fans and I'd venture to say that today, 24 hours after the Royal Rumble, that Daniel Bryan has NEVER been more popular in his entire career.

At this point, Daniel Bryan becoming WWE World Champion would be great but it certainly isn't definitively necessary for DB to be 'over.' Daniel Bryan is 'over' and his fans are seemingly rallying behind him in a verbal show of solidarity and support. If Bryan embraces this support, then a happier ending is more likely to occur.

Will all this soap opera-esque content actually lead to happier days for Daniel Bryan fans? My guess is yes unless the sports entertainment business has changed even more than I perceive. However, I do think that patience needs to be infused here and that's something that many of us aren't long on.

Personally, I'm happy to stay tuned and enjoy the Daniel Bryan bullet train ride to wherever its destination may be. I am a firm believer that great talents cannot be suppressed permanently and that there is a method to what is perceived to be the madness that is on going.

The Daniel Bryan phenomenon will likely result into a spirited and emotional Monday Night RAW that will also include a healthy TV rating. How WWE addresses the DB 'conspiracy' and creates an interest in the Elimination Chamber on PPV has my curiosity.

JR with wise words.

Don't get me wrong, I truly do think that somewhere down the line there's going to be a payoff, but they're getting awfully close to the line where the fans need something, a taster if you will. Hopefully Elimination Chamber offers that, he doesn't have to win, and I actually don't mind him not getting the title at Mania and such, but he needs to be in the chase at some point. Put him in the Rumble and have him screwed over even.

I remember them doing it to the Rock, and Chris Jericho back in the day, but there was always that feel of "matter of time" until they got their hands on HHH, and a title.

The only way that would possibly have worked is if they'd kept Batista coming back quiet so him entering the rumble was a surprise, and even then it'd have been risky.

Instead they advertised the feck out of it to the point it was obvious he would have to win, which meant everyone basically wanted anyone except Batista to win...then they put him directly up against the one person people might have accepted winning it in the absence of Bryan, and had Batista win by just rolling him casually over the top rope?

I mean, unless they were trying to make Batista look like a egotistical bellend, I don't get what the thinking was. Well, I do...someone obviously thought plastering Bastista's face everywhere would sell the PPV, but they could at least have come up with a less retarded way for him to win it. That's two years in a row I've watched the rumble where everyone under the sun already knows who the winner is. At least Cina kind of earns it though.

I always thought the stuff about Vince/HHH trying to keep Bryan down was B.S, but it really does feel that way recently.

By now I thought vince would backed Bryan, as surely he knows all this popularity = Money.

For some reason though they are almost taking it as a "you want to dictate how I run my business? no way." It's a sad state of affairs that somebody like Batista can decide he want's to return, and just waltz straight back into the main event in Wrestlemania?.

Anyway on a more positive note I enjoyed the PPV as a whole, but they definitely ruined the ending.

P.S how ripped did Kane look? That must be the leanest/best shape he's been in for years. Perhaps I never noticed before due to his attire, But topless he looked in great shape.

I never understood that. I wanted Batista to be in last years rumble as a surprise entrant. It would have had a bigger impact factor. I guess they focused more on the amount of buys. It's all about the $$$ these days. He didn't do anything before the Rumble but get on the mic for a few minutes. It was a wasted return so that more people bought the Rumble knowing he'd be there.

WM is all about $$$$$$$. That's why we had the Rock, that's why we've got Batista, the older fans who didn't buy WM in the previous years will buy it because of these guys that they used to cheer back when they used to watch WM. That's just the way it is. If it brings in extra buys, they'll do it. It's the same reason why Sting will walk into a match against the Undertaker despite never having wrestled in WWE in his life and being the age of 54 and out of shape if he chooses to leave TNA.

Aye, I was shocked how good Kane looked.

Apparently Batista was getting into it with the crowd last night. I mean , did he really think he'd come back to universal cheers?

From what I've read of people who were there, the sound on the feed was altered at the end of the PPV. Inside the stadium was much louder with boos than you'd think.

I pretty much could only hear booing from the time Rey came out to the end of the PPV , if they are really saying it was worse in reality that is shameful
